  • Thank you Dounia & Marcie. The interview went well...so well that they offered me the position at the end of the interview  . i start 11/29, which means i'll have health insurance at the 1st of the year! Woohoo! 5.15 mi run today at 10:17 pace. first true non-crappy run in a while.
  • Thanks for the reminder! :drinker:
  • Hi everyone...hope the running has been going well. been foam rolling, doing some PT exercises and some Pilates and I think it's helping a little. Did 4.55 on my tm late today. almost bagged the run, but knew I'd regret it more if i skipped it. I have a job interview tomorrow morning. wish me luck please...i really NEED to…
  • I do. In fact, it's flurrying today and I'm planning on getting out there instead of the treadmill. the snow melts off here much quicker than people think and as long as it's not terribly icy or windy, I'd rather run outside. Wear layers and hydrate. Just because it doesn't feel like you're sweating, you still need water.…
  • i did a double-take when i read your first post
  • I completely agree....sometimes the 80s rock completely does the trick, other times the dance music makes me run faster. I know someone else mentioned it before on the thread but Motley Crue's Kickstart My Heart...perfect running song. Also Ozzy's I Don't Wanna Stop. Just about anything by The Offspring also has the…
  • Thank you :blushing: funny thing is that a couple of years ago, I wouldn't have listened to most of it other than old school disco and the 80s dance stuff. I was dating a guy who listened to club music and heard Boom Boom Pow and thought "hmm, this would be great to run to." I started listening to some other radio stations…
  • I just posted this on another thread today... scroll down a bit http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/133408-running-playlist-your-fav-running-songs?page=1#posts-1815593

  • Hi everyone! Took 8 days off...whew. cold is gone, cough is pretty much all gone and I've been doing a lot of stretching. Nice, easy 4.7 mi run today (10:39/mi pace) with no lingering calf pain. Yeah!!!! Going to try and take it nice and easy and get some pain free runs in for the rest of the year. :)
  • Best slow cooker website ever. I can't tell you how many recipes i've used from Steph! Her 2nd slow cooker recipe book is about to come out also!
  • Had a good 5.5 mile run yesterday, but towards the end, my left calf started bothering me again. That should have been a big clue, because by 4:30, I was back in the bathroom with Round 2 of the stomach virus. Grrr. So between my calf being sore, haveing a cold/cough and not being able to eat, it looks like I'm taking a…
  • Fantastic!! WTG on breaking the 300# mark! :drinker:
  • Congratulations! You rocked your half!!! So happy you had such an awesome race and I'm sure you'll come in under 2 hours soon!!! :flowerforyou: :drinker:
  • Regular deoderant/anti perspirant. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than Body Glide. Solid-style. Just have a separate one for your thighs (and any other place that may chafe). I run, and in the summer when it's really hot, sometimes i chafe on my upper/inner thighs. I use solid deoderant/anti-perspirant and i never have a…
  • 4.85 mi run done. bit of a challege with all this congestion. used my inhaler before I ran and I think it helped, but now my voice is pretty much gone, i think from all the mouth breathing. Well, i signed up for another half marathon (and hoping I'm not hit with a stomach virus and a charley horse 6 days before this one,…
  • Hi Jake! Nice to see you here. Congrats on the lifestyle change and getting into running. It's definitely my sanity at times (but i wear shoes, lol...my feet (and my knee) didn't like the barefoot thing very much. Lisa
  • Hi everyone! 5.5 mi on the tm today. can't wait to run outside again...my children are home on Fall Break, so I won't get to run outside until Saturday. Feeling a little sick. Not sure if it's a cold or going to be worse, but i have the feeling like I've smoked a pack of cigarettes. May have to break out the inhaler. Nice…
  • Dounia-Congrats on your PR!!! That's fantastic and I"m glad all of your hard work paid off! ;) I also took a week off from running to let my calf (and the rest of my body) heel. tho by Thursday I was jonesing for a run, lol. I actually waited until today and hit the treadmill for 3.5 easy miles. Hoping i can get a couple…
  • Dounia, good luck on our half this weekend. Marcie, nice job on the long run. fwiw, i try to alternate miles or blocks when i'm running on the street and the camber is really bad. i tend to run opposite of traffic to start with, but there are a couple of streets that I can't do that, so it all balances out.
  • Lisa's Denver Half Marathon Report .I find it ironic that the half that I best trained for and had some of the best runs was the absolute worst half I've run and a PW by like 7 1/2 minutes. BUT, given my calf and the stomach virus, I AM happy with my time...well, not my time so much, more the fact that I got to run it and…
  • Good luck racers! :flowerforyou: Enjoy and I want to hear all about them in the next couple of days. I've accepted that I'm not going to have the race I planned for or trained for :( My calf is doing a little better, but I don't expect it to hold for the half. So, I'm going to run and if the pain gets worse, well, that's…
  • Well, I don't know if I'll be running on Sunday. (and this post contains a little bit of TMI, sorry in advance). Yesterday i was having a great run. I was about 4.5 miles in when suddenly, my left calf seized/cramped like you can not believe. there was no warning pains/niggles. One minute everything was fine, and then the…
  • Grrr, i just lost my post to you. trying again, and hoping i'm not double posting. i see no reason why you can't do both, in moderation. i'd cut back the running to 4x a week, or even every other day. so some weeks, you'd run 3x/week, others 4x a week. And i'd try to make one of those runs a bit longer, like 5-6 miles.…
  • 5.5 miles today. 3 miles was supposed to be at pace. Because i did my speedwork yesterday and not on Wednesday, I was really worried about this run. My legs felt SOOOO dead at the beginning and i really thought it was going to be a struggle. plus, it was windy. first mile was 10:43 which i was more than happy with. but…
  • skipped speedwork yesterday and did it early this morning. I really don't like doing it early, because i have to do it on an empty stomach and that makes it even harder. but on the bright side, I'm done for the day, lol. total of 5.3 miles 1 mi w/u @ 5.5 mph 4x400 @ 6.4 mph 8x400 @ 6.5 mph 1 mi c/d at 5.6 mph recoveries at…
  • Hello everyone! Welcome Brenda. That's quite a goal. LOL, my poor body can only take one or 2 halfs a year, max, lol. Anyway, 5.15 mi run at 10:20 pace. I feel like I'm just counting down the days until the half because I'd really like to take a break. Tomorrow is speedwork and I'm really not thrilled about it. see you all…
  • 11.5 miles today at 10:48 pace. this one was harder than last week's run. very relieved that it's over. this will be my last run over 10 before the half. My knee will NOT let me do 4 runs over 10 miles 4 weeks in a row. so, instead of doing 12 next week like my schedule says, i will do 7-8 and call it good. two more weeks…
  • 5.25 mi run yesterday that was craptastic, lol. Oh well, guess you have to take the bad runs with the good. Nice job Victoria, getting your ten miler done!
  • Great running everyone! In the next couple of weeks, we're going to have a lot of races! Yeah. I just got an email with my final information for my race on the 17th...can't believe it's that close already :) Yesterday was 5.25 mi at 10:40 pace. It's my hilly run for the week and it's and out-and-back, and on the way back,…
