This is absolute ridiculousness lol. Seriously. I'm a man, I love sex at least as much...most likely MORE than most men. But I tell you this, to 'get anything you want out of me' is going to require a hell of a lot more than just 'a good piece of sex'. Lol...some of the posts on this forum amaze me...even after over two…

I increase my weight every time I can complete my goal set/reps with good form. When I work with women I have them do the same. Usually this results in an increase at least once a week or so (I do a split workout, A and B...which results in doing two of each workout on alternate weeks). If you can't increase, take a look…

I'm sorry but this is completely untrue. Ten jumping jacks has more effect on your metabolism than any meal does.

Very interesting video. The way Mr. Mosley went about the 5:2 diet is effectively what Brad Pilon recommends in his book 'Eat, STOP, Eat'.

I'm right there with you on the wpm thing, and while I played MUDS, I didn't really start gaming until April 8th 1999, when I made my first and only (he was 11yrs old when I quit playing lol) EQ toon on Fennin Ro =p. And there went all the women who might have been fantasizing about ME!

I am a definite supporter of intermittent fasting. Another site would be www.leangains.com. I also highly recommend picking up Brad Pilon's 'Eat-STOP-Eat' off of Amazon. Even if you choose a different format (like leangains), the information in Brad's book is pretty invaluable.

I have a home based bodyweight workout in my profile. I lost 40lbs of bodyfat with it in three months when I started MFP two years ago. It flat works. However, you're going to have to eat more...period. Because in all honesty, nothing's going to help much if you start undermining your metabolism with a steady lack of food.…

I plead the 5th. Along with the other 26, just in case that one wasn't good enough.

Absolutely. Strength training helps even healthy people on so many levels...but the benifits to those that are seriously injured can go beyond even that.
-
Lol, I don't know about an old hand...but I've definitely learned a thing or two about how to recover from injuries where they insert threaded objects into my bones =p. The trick is to stay active, even while the bone is growing around the screws...and then after about 4-6wks, increase your loads progressively. For…

Thanks! Your numbers are pretty impressive period lol. But yeah, the injury thing does suck! Last February I ripped my right biceps off my forearm...ended up with surgery to reconnect, and months of recovery from that as well. NO FUN!
-
I think that entire concept is totally ridiculous! It's absolutely motivational. The only people who would find it shaming are those that want everyone else to support their choice to be fat. Period.

Hey guys! It's been awhile since I've posted in here, lol...but, being finally being back in the gym recovering from a shattered collarbone (Surgery was January 11th)...I think it's time I posted my current working sets! Squat - 275lbs 5x5 Deadlift - 275lbs 5x5 Bench Press (injury limited) - 135lbs 3x12 Bent Over Row…

You forgot to write: But just so you can get your head around it...I didn't quote the OP, I quoted the lady (wait for it....), that's in the first set of quotes in my post!! It was her that I responded to, thank you very much.

I feel like I'm in some kind of religious debate. Self proclaimed elite lol? Seriously lady, your fanaticism has addled whatever reading comprehension you may have initially started with. No one claimed junk food should be the staple of any diet, much less a weight loss diet. What has been said is a calorie is a calorie,…

No, no, no, yes, yes, no.

I understand that she is diabetic...I was posting this as an avenue of research for her, not as something to practice herself. :)

Absolutely!

I understood your intent, and love your generous and obviously caring outlook. I wasn't calling you out to make any sort of example, I just wanted to give you an avenue of research to look into for yourself. The answer is it increases insulin sensitivity, and helps your body relearn to work with normal blood sugar levels…

Those aren't sources. Half of them are tripe written by whoever felt like answering. The other half are full of misinformation. Go find me peer reviewed studies that support your point. Because I can tell you right now, at least 60% of us (inlcluding myself) who believe a 'calorie is a calorie' have waded through those…

More than a lot. What's funny...is if you look at the majority of the 'a calorie is a calorie' people, they invariably started out overweight (some morbidly obese), and are usually pretty thin/built/fit. Many of them had issues with insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, thyroid problems...the works. Yet here we all sit, with…

First, not one of those sources is worth the time to click on. Half of them either you or I could write for. There is no accountability. Second, no one, not one person on this site that I have EVER SEEN in over two years...says processed food is good for you. But yes, a calorie is a calorie when it comes to weight loss.…

My sons mother is 26, she still doesn't drive for similar reasons. I tried to teach her...her current boyfriend tried to teach her. She just won't. Her mother is 50something. She doesn't drive either. I can't give you any advice other than to just do it. The fear will eventually go away.

I ate at an overall deficit of 2100cal last week...and 3000cal the week before. The scale showed me 2lbs heavier this week. Do not trust that thing, it's the devil. :D

I actually did lose 40lbs of pretty much all bodyfat in 90 days...eating virtually nothing but taco bell (lunch), chicken and broccoli (dinner) lol. And a lot of it. Every day. A healthful diet is a wonderful thing...and should be a goal for everyone, but it's unnecessary for fat loss. The truth is the truth. Now...to the…

Some people hardly lose weight at all once they start lifting, but the inches drop dramatically. But to answer your specific question...4lbs is pretty normal, some people gain double that initially. I trained a young lady (39yrs old, 5'2" tall) for 30 days last year. At the beginning she was 158lbs. At the end, she was…
