Maybe balance was a bad word... I should have said constant mental battle... for example I feel guilty if I eat something with high calories, but then I feel guilty if I don't eat enough because then I'm not giving my body what it needs. Sometimes I think I just don't have the mental and emotional capacity to deal with all…

Thanks for your reply. I've been at this a while and I know I cannot possibly eat much less than I do right now (around 1500 calories, although this is probably more like 1600-1700 by real world calculations). Sure, I feel OK at first, and I might drop a couple of kgs... but then I start to become irritable, I can't…

Sometimes it feels like there is a law... all the pressure from the media to be this size, wear this, eat this, run this far; and the hundreds of 'qualified' personal trainers, health 'experts' and 'coaches' and keyboard warrirs constantly telling us to be thinner, fitter and faster; not to mention the fact that every shop…

I've looked into this, most health professionals recommend a waist circumference under 35 inches

BMI is not so good on an individual scale. For example, many athletes are considered in the overweight or obese range. I'd rather rely on body fat % and measurements. BMI simply tells me that I'm overweight, most medical charts tell me this. I don't think I'm going to die any sooner than someone thinner just because my BMI…

Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment! I feel like I'm a little 'thick' and could definitely do with some toning. I just have to find a way to learn to love strength training as much as I do cycling and yoga!

It's 3.48pm on day one and I already want an ice cold beer... I can do this!!!
-
This is yoga combined with body weight resistance (planks, pushups, lunges, tricep dips etc) :-)
-
So body weight resistance isn't classed as strength training? Personally I can barely do one push up, so right now I could not add any more resistance to such exercises.

How is everyone finding this week's challenge? I'm enjoying it, it's giving me a good excuse to check out the lifestyle and wellness section of the news over a cuppa! Here's a quick update on what I've learned: - Wednesday: Attitude is a HUGE factor in the weight loss journey…

It isn't any fun at all :-(

- The amount of food wasted when you are eating out because portions are always too big and you can never eat all that food!
-
- Yes, being cold all the time! - Having to replace your entire wardrobe. - People on public transport feeling they can take up more of your space because you're not filling it so much! - Butt bones hurt more from sitting on hard surfaces. - If you have wider hips like me (and still some curves in your behind), the dreaded…

Is everyone out there learning some new things about weight loss? On Monday I learned how much not getting adequate sleep can effect your workouts! I learned this from experience. For some reason I barely slept on Sunday night, and after managing 4.5 hours of fitfull sleep, I had to get myself into work. I thought cycling…

So true!

I get you kingscrown! How did everyone do this week? I was going well but I did have 2 days where I couldn't muster the imagination to think of anything new to try so unfortunately I get a big fat F for this challenge. Nevermind, it's all part of the fun!

The homemade items are all measured and recipes from a program I completed when I lost a good amount of weight the first time around, most of which I have kept off by continuing to use the recipes. The program is Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation if you want to look further into it. All recipes use whole foods,…

Thanks for your reply. I've used IIFYM to calculate my maintenance and weight loss calories. Maintenance is 2023, loss is 1618, so I figure 1500 is a good target and if I go over this a little it won't matter too much. The days you see with the big drop are days that I cycle solidly for at least 2 hours, MFP calculates…

I never thought about that, thanks!

Oops haven't updated for a couple of days! Yup, still not a fan of figs!! I ate one whole honeeyed fig last night but struggled to get it down... On Wednesday I couldn't really find any new foods to try (I always eat a simple fare the day prior to pay day!) so I thought I'd try a new tea. Brewed up some lavendar tea which…

So close! I guess Australia is exotic to some! Attached but no children

Today I sampled another Chia Co pod, this one was mango flavoured and MUCH nicer than the blueberry one! What's everyone else been sampling? I think tomorrow I'm going to try some honeyed figs... I've only had figs twice in my life, once as the whole fruit (undried) and once as a preserve, wasn't a fan then but I'll give…

Haha this is great!

Mmmm peanut butter! I'm not going throught this right now by the way, it's just something that happens from time to time (especially for us girls if you get me!). I'd just like to know how others handle this situation. Personally, I usually eat some fruit, even if it means going over calories.

Well the week is over, how did everyone do? I was doing great up until Friday where I ended up buying lunch and dinner after a particularly pressuring day at the office. Every other day I met the challenge, but there will be no rewards for me because of Friday. Nevermind, I did my best! Hope everyone else managed to pull…

I find planning the week ahead really helps. Some suggestions if you are struggling to make your own food: - If you have a spare hour or so sometime throughout the week then you have time to plan what you can make to last the week! - Cook up big pots of soups, stews, risotto, and paella, or anything that freezes well and…
