  • I agree. That sounds really high.
  • I'm one of those every-day-weighers. Stick to the schedule you set for yourself, and don't let it be a huge deal if it's up. Facing the facts without letting yourself get all guilty is the best Christmas/birthday gift you can give yourself! Good luck!
  • That's hard. From first-hand experience, that's hard. Friends are the people you think you can confide in and vent to, and when weight-loss and exercise are on your mind, you want to vent about those things! It's upsetting when they don't acknowledge what you're doing, and even worse when they try and sabotage you.…
  • Luckily, there are tons of resources available for recipes and exercises. Unluckily, you're the only one who can do anything about it and that's hard. Keep this feeling you had while you wrote this post, and remember it. Bring it back every day and you'll do great. I'd start with the fast food, personally. Avoid it at all…
  • Dag. That sucks. Lol.
  • I'm with you! Thanksgiving is just one day and some leftovers, but Christmas means plate after plate of goodies baked from the neighbors and party after party with sweet boozy drinks and appetizers all over the place. I'm just trying to exercise more and cross my fingers...yikes!
  • You all seem to be talking about soda...I'm the only one who thought of sparkling water? If it's still bad for your teeth, then by all means stay away, but right now I'm hooked on La Croix Coconut Sparkling Water, zero calories, zero sweetener. Ingredients: carbonated water, natural flavor. Maybe worth checking out for a…
  • As long as you're staying within your caloric allowances, you won't be gaining weight from chocolate. If it's your TOM, there will definitely be bloating - it varies in women and can go from 0 to 5 pounds of water weight in the stomach area easily. Don't worry about it! Just keep to your schedule of exercise and keep on…
  • I'd say definitely not to the chocolate shake, sorry. As someone who has had strep throat about 10 times, (I wish I were exaggerating,) stick to: -drinking as much water as you can. Seriously. -butterscotch candies are really good for soothing throats. -tea, especially "throat coat" tea, the organic herbal remedy -I've…
  • As a college student, I feel pretty confident that I've figured out cheap eating. Oatmeal for breakfast every day, bought in bulk. Cheap, healthy, whole grain, low cal, boom. Seasonal fruits and veggies for other meals, very cheap, roasted with olive oil for meals. Check those grocery store ads - they've got great deals on…
  • It's not very consistant, but it's on today! Marathon! I'll be watching it while I hit the treadmill...
  • Basically they have two unhealthy eaters (from either end of the spectrum) switch diets and discuss why both of them are unhealthy. I love it!
  • I have a Sportline pedometer from walmart. It works great and is generally very accurate. I try to get in at least 10k steps a day, but 12k if it's possible.
  • Yep, I go with first thing in the morning after peeing with no clothes on. I like to weigh every day, but there are a lot of people who prefer to weigh in less often. Numbers can change frequently due to water weight, so it's important to not take daily changes too seriously. When I was starting to lose weight, even the…
  • Mine's open too. I didn't log yesterday, but I've already logged what I'm eating for breakfast and lunch today and what I ate last week.
  • I hear you sister...eating out for me is where I just can't eat normal portion sizes. It's like I KNOW that I will feel gross if I keep eating, but I do anyway. For home prepared meals, my advice is to count out the calories of the portion before hand, put it on your plate, and put away leftovers before you even start…
  • Being sick is hard, especially stomach stuff. I think it's most important to listen to your body...don't stuff food down, but don't keep yourself from eating. Stick with soups and crackers and ginger ales- stuff that feels right on your stomach. You'll be fine to pick up wherever you are once your body is healthy again!
  • My go-to packed lunch looks like this: Spinach in a tupperware thing -baggie of roasted almond slices -baggie of fat free feta cheese -small container of balsamic vinegar and olive oil mix together for salad! apple banana snapea crisps (check them out if you don't already love them...they're great!) cheese stick maybe a…
  • It depends. I'd say if your intake is low, around 1200, count some of your housework, especially if you're feeling like it's tiring you out. But if you have an intake closer to 1400, I'd say just don't log it. Go by how you feel and if you really think you need those extra calories for energy.
  • I'm on the pill, are I rarely see any gain/loss more than 3 pounds. When I started the pill, I did gain about 3 pounds. It's all in my boobs so I can't complain at all.
  • According to your ticker in your sig, you've lost 6 pounds! If that's in a month, I think that's WAY fantastic. That scale IS moving!!!! Congrats!!!

  • Girl, you got this. If you follow your gut, you can't go wrong. Breaking up and getting rid of a relationship that really isn't good for you is a step in the right direction - and though it's emotional, eating poorly and treating your body poorly is going completely the wrong direction. Focus not on the break-up, but on…
  • There are plenty of ways to try kicking the plateau. What worked for my mom and me was to wear a pedometer and kick up steps to 12000 a day. Good luck to you!

  • When I started losing weight, it was the last twoish/threeish months of my dorm life. (Just finished up freshman year). I put on about five pounds up until that point, and had had enough. How I did it was logging EVERYTHING that went into my mouth. Those late night easy macs and sporadic McDonald's runs were killer if I…
  • Patience. I hit a plateau and really felt like I was not getting anywhere with calories set almost at maintenance and really not keeping that good of track for a while. I still lost about a pound, and on monday I started to do the 1200 again. I won't weigh in officially until Friday and I guess it's too soon to really say…
  • I think it's all good. There are times and places for keeping things trim if you're pickin up what I'm puttin down, but as far as chest hair, let it be. I find it to be WAY more attractive for a guy to be confident and manly in whatever skin he's in rather than self conscious about something that is just human.

  • Ham or turkey or chicken or something and cheese wrapped up with whatever veggies you like inside of them, or with lettuce wrapping it up. Deeeelicious.
  • I'll just assume it's up and say...Strawberry. :)
  • Good luck! It's a great resource...my best advice is just to stay active even on bad days. Cheers!
  • Good luck! Sounds like you really have a good paradigm starting off. :)
