  • Alright guys - update. I emailed Lou, author of book, not really expecting a response, but - here's the correspondance in case you're interested! Hello Lou! First of all - loved the book NROLFW, and I love the workouts. I have my dad hooked on NROLFL, and he's loving it too. I have a question about starting over.…
  • I know showers dry out my skin way more if the water is really hot - I guess if you have to shower a lot, try to keep the water on the cooler (not cold - but more lukewarm) side. OR, could you just wash your face if you're worried about breaking out?
  • bump. I'm interested on hearing more about this too..
  • Iced Coffee with milk and with half of the classic syrup - delicious and sweet enough. Edit: OOOR sugar free vanilla instead of classic and skim for the milk. very low cal.
  • LOVE!! Does he have any directions on how to make one!?
  • Best pork chops ever - had them tonight bone in pork chops - I use 3 center cut 1 cup of water 1 packet of mccormick's slow-cooker savory pot roast 1 can of root beer or coke leave on low for 8 hours before eating, sprinkle mccormick's aujus gravy mix on top. Pork chops = literally falling apart. So tasty.
  • You are already in a good habit and routine of being healthy: DON'T STOP. It's so fabulous that you are feeling great and congratulations on all of your hard work! Absolutely keep going. Which would you regret more? Also, getting in the routine is really sometimes the hardest part. You have that down - keep it up!!!!
  • I'd start at 1.5 or 2, but as you get closer, expect to see smaller losses.
  • ...This feels like an ask a doctor or a pharmacist thing.
  • I love love love NROLFW. As someone who hadn't lifted since PE, I think it's a great way to understand what it's about and get into it.
  • http://getdrunknotfat.com/ My favs are gin and tonic and whisky diet coke :)
  • Yay! I love this stuff!
  • I'm 5'6", but my family is made up of many many short women. (Four aunts at around 4'10" as well). Many of them feel most comfortable under 100 pounds - but are most beautiful when they're around 100 or 95. One in particular has pushed herself down into the 80s...yes, pushed herself, and she neither looked nor felt…
  • Talk to your doctor, and if she/he isn't much help, talk to a professional nutritionist. I know I would, as staying healthy while pregnant is very important and also not something you want to mess up on. Good luck and congratulations!!
  • This: http://thinktraffic.net/motivation It's harsh and a bit graphic, but hey, it's what works for me. Also, in terms of motivation on a reward-basis, I have s reward system set up for myself... +daily yoga routine or weights (+1) +walk, 30min minimum (+1p30min/-1<30) +weighing self (+1/-1) +logging calories (+1/-1)…
  • I've heard great things about 30DS and would love to try them... but I can only speak from experience. That being said, New Rules of Lifting for Women or New Rules of Lifting for Life (Depending on age) are great. I'm doing the women one, and my Dad is doing the life one. It's not a video, but it's great info and great set…
  • This thread may be information overload, but it has lots of good ideas! http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=10500
  • Take before and after pics, measure your inches, maybe lose the scale for a while. Also, this isn't what people like to hear, but my experience has always been that losing weight in pounds works best when I stick to low-impact exercise of walking and eating low cals. Working out and eating low never yields results for me.…
  • I agree with the above posts and can totally understand your concerns. The main advice I would give would be to listen to your body. If you feel absolutely drained, maybe you aren't eating enough. Regardless of calories or hunger, just stay tuned to your amount of energy. If you're having trouble moving your body at all,…
  • Good for you for sticking to your number goals! I know especially when I first started, it felt like the end of the world if I was 80 calories over. Listen to your body and keep grounded; you know a few hundred calories doesn't equal a pound, and it will be okay as long as you stay focused. Welcome to MFP!!
  • Walking is fantastic, and I also highly suggest the website www.doyogawithme.com for free HD yoga videos.
  • For me it's perfumes or strong scents (even that purple dawn...man that kills me), hot dogs with the nasty cheese inside of them, and any wines. However, I have found that "sulfite free" or really any organic red wines don't give me any headaches. Trader Joe's carries quite a few brands that I'd suggest.
  • I'd add vanilla extract and maybe orange, lemon, or lime peel. It will add quite a kick of fruit flavor without the calories or carbs.
  • What I do (which is totally inaccurate, but it's worked pretty solidly) is set up a calorie level for myself with no work outs, no activity for a day (for me its 1300) and add 200 cals for a relatively active day (on my feet, walking, yoga, etc). and add 400 cals for a hard workout (lifting and yoga, etc.) It's not…

  • This is common with any dramatic diets - huge changes at first, then a sudden plateau of weight and also low energy. You'll find here that people are very focused on leading a consistently active life and finding a sensible deficit for your body from your maintenance calories. For me, if I don't move out of bed all day, my…
  • My boyfriend is 5'10" and 121...always been skinny. He doesn't really care to put on weight and has some stomach issues, but he has researched what he would have to do. He found that he would have to eat so much - as in past the point of uncomfortable - and lift heavy weights consistently. Dead lifts, squats, etc. Also,…
  • For me, I found that the last few pounds are really really hard...especially after staying so low cal for so long! Good luck with the carb-cutting. If you are finding it isn't working, try bumping up to maintenance cals for a month or two...you will gain a few pounds, but once you cut back again, it will be more effective.…
  • OOh those all sound like good things!! Right now my reward system is a little complicated...I gain or lose a dollar every day for four different tasks, and can get bonus dollars for extra. I.E., if I walk for 30minutes, I get a dollar. If I don't, I lose a dollar. Same for logging calories (regardless of the #), doing yoga…
  • If it were me, I'd stick with the workouts. Just because the diet part of your routine is struggling, don't stop the part that's thriving!! Get your diet in line when you can, but keep up the good work with the workouts.
