Maybe I should just ignore the online calculators, they really seem to vary a lot. I'll just have to wait until I can get it done by someone at the gym. I just did this one and it gave me a completely different estimate!

I'm not really interested in gaining muscle. I would like to maintain what I have and lose a little more body fat and I'll be happy! Thanks for the reply though! I don't care about weighing a specific amount, but I do have extra fat that I want to lose so 115 seems like a reasonable goal. I'm 124 now so it's not a very big…

I would love to know mine, I'll probably get it tested in a couple weeks when the semester starts and they offer that at the fitness center at school again. (I'll update this post then if I remember!) I've done the online calculator and it put me at 26%, which gives me a lean body mass of like 90 pounds, which sounds kind…

A healthy diet and regular exercise will help you lose weight because it helps you cut calories. You can maintain your weight with a healthy diet and regular exercise too, so calories really are what matters. You don't necessarily have to count them, but you have to have a deficit to lose weight.
-
I am the same way. Of course I have improved my diet a lot, I eat smaller portions, and generally healthier...but there's nothing that I cut out completely (unless I don't like it) and I can almost guarantee that I haven't gone even a week without fast food during my entire weight loss (61 pounds so far)! It really does…

you don't look anywhere close to that, really! don't let that bother you. I was a lot bigger than you (A LOT) when I was in the 170s and I'm 5'6".

after seeing your second pic, I change my guess to about 140!
-
145-150 I always hesitate before answering posts like this though because I'd hate to guess higher and make someone feel bad!

I just finished my fit test! It was really hard for me to, I paused for a little extra time in between each exercise to let my heart rate come down more and that helped! I've tried Insanity in the past and it is hard but I think you can do it! Just try your hardest and do what you can!
-
That was HARD! but here are my results: switch kicks: 80 power jacks: 48 power knees: 72 power jumps: 33 globe jumps: 10 suicide jumps: 10 push-up jacks: 17 low plank oblique: 55 It took me 36 minutes to do because I paused for a little longer than the dvd in between each workout to bring my heart rate down a little more.…

The only foods I exclude from my diet are foods that I don't like.

To late to join? I'll do the fit test today and post my results when I'm done. I bought Insanity a few years ago, I've tried it twice and did 2 weeks the first time and then 4 weeks the second time (at my heaviest weight). I'm really close to my goal weight now so I think it would be a really good program to do and maybe…

Definitely wait to see how you feel about your body overall after your weight loss, but if it's something that you really want you should ignore everyone else's opinions! It's your body and the only opinion that matters is your own! My boobs have gotten a lot smaller since losing weight (60 pounds) and I personally am…

to be fair, you are assuming that that's what they're doing, unless you actually ask people if they purposely went out and bought something that was a size too small for them or what, and that still makes you a bit rude! I just don't buy that you've overheard many people saying this, especially not enough to prompt a whole…

Some people like their clothes tight, that's their preference and they're entitled to it. Some people might be growing out of their clothes and either can't afford new clothes or don't notice/are in denial that they don't fit anymore. Either way, who cares? I don't let what other people are wearing bother me.

I feel like the only way to do that and stay at the same weight is to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time, which I don't think is possible. I am in a really similar position as you though, I am 5'6" and 124 and still want to lose some fat on my stomach and my thighs. My goal is to lose fat and try to maintain my…

My favorite concert was Motion City Soundtrack and Say Anything in 2010, two of my favorite bands playing together is hard to top!

I have lost 61 pounds out of my total goal of 70! It's taken me close to 2 years (started Nov. 2011), and I have had many periods of days/weeks/ and occasionally months of struggling to stay on track or lose any weight. I think it's pretty normal. Just keep going and don't quit on yourself even when it takes longer than…

it's good for you and your body. exercise isn't only to burn calories, that's by far not its only benefit! also, is getting to eat more really such a bad thing? lol
-
very true! I have them and I haven't even had any kids yet!
-
Absolutely! you've worked really hard and you look great! your waist is tiny!
-
Are you eating back your calories that you burn while running? If not, you should be. It makes sense that you get hungrier because your body burns a lot of calories running and it wants them back! lol
-
Lol I thought this was going to be about gaining weight in relationships after you find yourself eating as much as your male partner! That happened to me  but anyways, I was wrong!
-
just wear what you want, who cares what everyone else thinks about it?

I have burned 1000+ calories (most ever was 1200, 2 gym sessions in one day that totaled 3hrs), but it usually takes at least 2 hours of cardio (elliptical normally), which is more than what I normally do but I will occasionally. It's possible but it just takes a long workout. And of course, the bigger/heavier you are, the…

If you are using an online calorie burn estimate, I would suggest logging no more than 10cals burned/minute. I can't burn that much anymore but I could get close to that at my highest weight, working out as hard as I could. Now, I am much closer to 7-8 calories a minute. You could possibly burn a little more, but it's very…
-
I either don't log at all and just consider it a free day, or I look for similar items in the database and chose one that seems to be reasonable. I've gotten pretty good at eyeballing portion sizes which helps a lot for when you have to guess. Basically, you just have to log it as best as you can and remember that your…

That was my first thought too. Are you using a heart rate monitor with a chest strap? You could burn maybe 600-800 in 75 minutes, but 1200 seems unrealistic. But to answer your question, you don't want to make it a regular thing. It's better to be near your suggested calorie goal!

WOW! you look seriously amazing! Great work! I'm so ready to be done, I'm going on 21 months now but I still want to lose 10 to get to my goal! you are definitely motivating!
