I have a Trek 7.5 FX that I am in love with. I don't think I'd do any MTB with it (in fact, I know I wouldn't) but I do love the Trek bikes ... good luck!

I like the imap apps .. imapmyride, imapmyfitness, imapmywalk .. very slick and accurate. Gives you pace, average speed, miles, etc.

I have a Polar FT4 and love it. I don't think it has a step counter in it but I'm sure some of the other Polar ones do. I like this brand because they are so easy to operate and do most of the work for you. Good luck!

I experienced this for the first time recently. I gained 5 pounds within a few days ... or so my scale said. Actually, I think it was right.. I had really slacked off drinking water and when I ramped that back up .. I quickly dropped the 5 pounds plus 1.8 more .. strange how your body works!

I do cardio pretty much every day but may skip on Sundays if my body is tired. I used to do weights on Tues/Thurs/Saturday but I've been lazy lately and really need to get back into doing that.

I just went through 4 qweeks of gaining and losing the same dang 5 pounds and it's frustrating as heck. I think sometimes your body just "readjusts" and we get weird results. I know the psychological aspect of it stinks but work though it and I bet you see results in a week or two!
