  • I eat breakfast then drink a large cup of tea, a ton of water, another cup of tea, more water. This usually keeps me full until snack time, when I eat something fibrous and filling like an apple. Then more water and tea. Coffee also helps, if you're into that.
  • When I want to lose weight fast, I eat this every day, and it's very effective: breakfast: apple lunch: protein and veggie (small servings) snack: grapefruit dinner: protein and veggie (small servings) I avoid all dairy, added sugar, starches, creams, etc. Just loads of water and some tea.
  • If you do want to have a few drinks, these are my go-to low-cal drinks: vodka, club soda, splash of OJ tequila, club soda, splash of cran Just try to avoid the junk food. If you have to eat something, order a veggie platter or a salad.
  • Sounds like she IS trying to get stronger/fitter, she said she doesn't want to get "bulky". I see the difference.
  • No. Muscle is hard to build. Unless you're an extreme genetic outlier, you can't get too bulky. Your body won't allow it. You need to use weights heavy enough to make your time at the gym worthwhile. It's not enough to do a lot of reps with a little weight. You're increasing your endurance but not your muscle. You need…
  • I have the same problem. Swimming is a really good all-over muscle building activity. If you're doing squats correctly, they shouldn't affect your knee that much. Step ups are a good substitute for lunges. Donkey kicks (on all fours, stretch your leg out and up behind you) are really good.
  • http://enell.com/ AWESOME sports bra for bigger boobs. Keeps 'em secure, but doesn't make them look like one big giant boob. Plus they kind of make you look like a superhero.
  • I have a bad knee, not from an injury, it's just hurt since I was a little kid. Had 2 surgeries, still can't figure out what's wrong with it. I have a hard time exercising because of it. I've been working out pretty hard for the last 2 weeks, and each day my knee hurts worse and worse. I hear a lot about how you should…
  • Thanks for posting those awesome links!
  • Yeah...I was super motivated to do this challenge but I'm losing interest fast! I think I'll go try to find another group.
  • Portion control is also one of my biggest challenges. I'm working on it, though. Also, I work nights and have a crazy schedule. I work 2 weeks up at the top of Alaska and eat from a cafeteria. The good part of this is: there is no alcohol (one of my biggest vices) and they generally have very healthy food up here (in…
  • I usually have some kind of fruit and veggie for breakfast, with coffee (skim milk) Lunch: big, big salad, small protein (cottage cheese or chicken) Dinner: 1/4 cup starch, half a plate of veggies and 1/4 plate protein Snacks: more veggies and fruit, sometimes a yogurt, if I'm craving carbs then a piece of Ezekiel toast…
  • I'm Naomi, I'm 28 and live in Alaska. For two weeks out of every month, I have a very sedentary job - answering phones for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. But then I have two whole weeks off of work to do whatever I want with! I am at 180lbs and want to lose 40. MFP told me I should eat 1200 cals a day, I think that's…
  • Where did he post day 2? I can only find day 1!
  • Yeah I'm kind of bummed out it hasn't been posted yet. It's 6am where I am. Perfect workout time.
  • I assumed that the first day of February would be day 1 of "Fired up in February"...am I wrong? If so, then I must've missed a day. I just thought we were starting at the beginning of the month.
  • I guess I'll just do a repeat of Friday's today...?
  • Where's 2.2.13?
  • I would say go with what feels healthy. For me, and I'm 5'8, I feel healthiest at around 135. But that's not going to be necessarily true for someone else who is my height. There are a lot of factors to consider (activity level, climate, etc.) but what it all really comes down to is how you feel about it. Your health is…
  • I have a hard time eating my vegetables, too. I started juicing and you'd be AMAZED at how many vegetables you can get in one glass of juice, and it doesn't taste half bad.
  • Day 1 down! It felt great. I am really feeling motivated to keep up with this.
  • I'm in....how does it work? Do I just look back here for the challenges?
  • I have a friend who is a fitness trainer, I had her work out a routine for me for when I'm up here at the top of Alaska working for 2 weeks out of the month. I do have access to a gym and a swimming pool up here, so she included that. There are also some exercises easy for at home. She targeted my thighs mostly, I have a…
  • Thanks everyone. You really have no idea how much that helps. I think I'm going to look into getting a trainer when I get home. One of my biggest fears is that I'm not using the machines or weights correctly - if I had a professional show me, I'd be much more confident. It's a tough thing for me - I am a self conscious…
  • I make risotto out of mine - it is so good. Ingredients: 1/2 tbsp butter or oil 5-7 Cremini mushrooms, chopped 1/2 Vidalia onion, minced 1/2 shallot, minced 3 cups vegetable broth 1.5 cup quinoa, rinsed 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, more for the top Drizzle of black Truffle oil (optional)…
  • Tequila, club soda, and a splash of cranberry juice with a lime wedge. ;) I drink a lot of tea, my favorites are lemon ginger (good for digestion) and peppermint (also good for digestion). Put a lemon wedge in whatever you drink, it's really good for you.
  • I do the same recipe every morning, more or less. I make one batch that makes a HUGE glass for my husband and a smaller glass for me: 1 large apple half a lemon with peel 3 carrots half a beet including leaves big handful of spinach big handful of lettuce handful of kale 1/2 cucumber tiny bit of peeled ginger 2 celery…
