Marti, I just finished my 30 day shred workout for today. I'm on level 2 and I had no problem doing 50 jumping jacks or 50 crunches. Didn't even get 25 lunges or squats (I don't think), but I did them after the workout. So all-in-all, I got us 2 points for the mash-up challenge! :D

I'm so glad you made a discussion board for us! I think I'll find it very helpful. On another note, we have a great team and I'm super pumped on the challenges this month!

Gwynne, I'll accept your challenge. I work in the basement of a 3 story building, not much compared to what you've got but I'll give it a go.
-
I challenge someone to run farther than me today.

I'm loving the October challenge titles! Can I just say thanks for the weekend challenges in advance? I think they're really going to help me keep control of drinking and whatnot that seems to happen during the weekend.

spinach!! fortified breakfast cereals

I'm almost through week 1 of 30DS. I really love the workout mostly because I CAN do it and because it's so short. I was told to do cardio workouts along with the 30DS as you'll see better results. Good luck and have fun!

This morning I ran my first official 5k race! The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in 30.27! My goal was 30 minutes, but I'm still ecstatic about my time. I feel so good! I can't wait to find another 5k race to sign up for.

If no one accepted the 2nd squat challenge, I'll accept!

That's great! Soda, diet or not, is not good for you so this is a great accomplishment. Keep up the good work!

Some people have said that "aerobics" is pretty close to how many you burn, but I've also seen people say they burn more than that.

It depends. A vegetarian diet can be french fries, cheese sandwiches and ice cream or it can be homemade black bean burgers, salads, stir fries, etc. Your options are endless and it's easy to be a healthy vegetarian, just do your research. It's about variety. My diet consists mostly of legumes, beans, vegetable and…

I'm in! I started running a number of months ago(maybe even a year?) but not consistently and it was quite embarrassing how pathetic I was doing, but I stuck with it. In the beginning it felt like my lungs weren't even there (plus I had asthma). I no longer have asthma and can run 35 minutes at a 10 min/mile pace. I'm…

that's exactly it! a pity party, we can do this together!

maybe up your sodium on workout days to balance your electrolytes level?

I noticed this too and I'd like to know.

Appetizers: La Mozzarella, Il Carciofo or Verdure Cotte sound good and healthy. Any of the salads, but I'd avoid creamy dressings. I'd stay clear of the pizza and the pasta because restuarants usually have huge portions, but if you're better than me with self control then you'd probably be fine. Try to get lots of veggies…

with honey and fruit too!

I love oatmeal! I usually do the 50/50 water milk too. Almond butter or sunflower butter and mashed banana. Pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice and a little brown sugar. Or mango, grated carrot, vanilla extract and a little plain greek yogurt (tastes like carrot cake!)
-
If you're going to munch, munch on carrots or other veggies or drink a fruity tea. I completely understand where you're coming from and I have nights like this more often than I want to.
-
I also was going to say plain greek yogurt. protein in general keeps me full longer, so try adding more protein to your meals? I make vegetarian taco salads about 1x or 2x a week and I substitute plain greek yogurt for sour cream.
-
This is a unique concern! You could get a juicer and juice fruits and veggies. Make smoothies with plain greek yogurt for protein.
-
oh and diet drinks are worse off for you than regular. you really shouldn't want to be putting artificial anything in your body. cane sugar is natural and sugar substitutes are all man-made. gross.
-
flavored fruit drinks are wasted calories. just drink water or add a lemon or cucumber slice.
-
I eat it with hummus or laughing cow cheese.
-
I'm nervous to start running in public again too! Are there any trails you could run on or how about a park?
-
You're going over sugars because of all the fruit you're eating...which isn't bad, but try balancing the fruit with veggies. Looks like you don't get a lot of veggies in your diet. i.e. add spinach to a fruit smoothie. spinach is also a good source of iron which if you're not eating meat, you're probably low there as well.

Just come prepared with snacks/meals for the day. I keep tea at my desk and drink that in the afternoon to hold me over, afternoons tend to be the time of day I mindlessly snack. I also drink plenty of ice water.

Get a gym membership! I have one and it goes in phases of constant use and limited, but for $13 and not far from your home I would. I think a lot of the reasons why people don't go/use it is convenience....conveniently located and times it is open.

I haven't had any luck. There's usually already priority people so getting there earlier to be on standby (for a normal person) is unlikely. But I'd give it a shot again if I ever need to.
