Hi there! I've lost about 8 pounds on Lyrica (100mg 3x a day), but now facing a plateau. I am also a recovered anorexic. I was hospitalized when I was 12 for starving myself (also depression) and have struggled on both ends of the weight spectrum ever since. I gained lots of weight taking meds for Bipolar in my late…

Yes, being in the water helps me as well - especially if the water is warm. I did physical therapy in the water, once, and loved it. I could do so much more while in the water. It IS easy to overdo it, though, because you won't feel it till later. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a pool very often. :(

I can't function well on pain killers, but I need them sometimes. I take Lyrica, but I don't think it's working as well as it did when I started taking it. Maybe I need a higher dose. Sometimes we have to push through the pain, but sometimes it's just not realistic. Pick your battles, rest when you can, and get some light…

Also noting...I've never tested high on my insulin levels as far as I know. Weird, because PCOS is supposed to mean you test high, right?

For me, Metformin seemed to work for a year or so, but then I started having flare ups of cysts. Doc put me on Byetta in addition to the metformin, and after awhile, I became hypoglycemic! So, I was taken off both medications and put on Spironolactone (a blood pressure med - not sure how it's supposed to work) and…

Hi! I need a lot of encouragement too. I also have Fibro, but I'm 31 years old. Do you not have health insurance, or would they just not cover the Celebrex? I'm currently on Lyrica, after trying pretty much every other Fibro med with no success - and it is helping a bit. I'm trying to lose around 90lbs --so it's safe to…

I'm 31 now, but I was diagnosed with fibro when I was under 30. I've been suffering from pain ever since I can remember - but didn't know what it was before about 5 years ago. I definitely recommend exercising in water - either swimming or aqua aerobics. I did physical therapy in a pool and it was a lot less painful than…

I DO think that eating less processed junk in general does help a bit.

Yep. I can feel a storm system coming from a day or two away just from the change in the atmosphere. Sometimes it renders me completely bedridden for a few days. Hot humid weather (which is what we have pretty much all summer in southern IL) is terrible for me, as is very cold weather - but storms are the worst.

Yeah, I only take Aleve every now and then - no tylenol really (except what's in the hydrocodone, but i only take it when I really need it because I'm afraid of addiction and that my doc won't refill it). That's crazy that Lyrica did that to you! It's been the ONLY thing that has worked for me. Gabapentin made me feel very…

Hellooooo out there? Anyone home?

I'm 31 and an active logger! Not like a lumberjack...but, well...you know. Lol. :)

Even if pain does not signal injury, it can STILL raise your blood pressure if you put your body under stress by "pushing as hard as you can". That's a good way to have a stroke or a heart attack especially if you're overweight and used to a more sedentary lifestyle. My pain has raised my usually normal range blood…

I have fibro, PCOS, Bipolar, and a few other chronic illnesses which I feel like I'm too young for...but they've been plaguing me for quite some time now. I've struggled with my weight for over a decade due to medications and illness, and I'm also a recovered (or recovering?) anorexic...I was hospitalized when I was 12,…

For as long as I can remember, exercise has always hurt - even in childhood. I guess that's why I became an artist and not an athlete!

I've taken: Cymbalta: Didn't work, caused extreme nausea Savella: Same as Cymbalta Topomax: Really weird crawling skin sensations, and other overall weirdness - no help with pain Gabapentin: Helped at first, but when I got up to 3 doses a day I was sleeping ALL the time...and after awhile it seemed to quit helping the…

I count cleaning and cooking/food prep because any activity for me is strenuous due to the chronic Fibromyalgia pain. Honestly, I can't do much hardcore exercise, so I get it where I can.

Try Quinoa, lentils, tofu, and nut butters! I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but I'm trying to explore alternate sources of protein and eat less meat.

YuuuuUUUmmm

I have PCOS, too!

No way - coffee is amazing! Coffee and tea have health benefits (as long as you don't add a bunch of sugar).
-
Your body can have "withdrawals" from sugar, so yes, I'd say it could count as an addiction. These days, they consider gambling and shoplifting addictions, so why not sugar? There is a physical response to lack of sugar - that's why I got sick when I tried going extremely low carb (Atkin's diet - never again). Like any…

oooooh sushi is my favorite food ever - my ticker has a pic of homemade sushi rolls!

try to satisfy your sweet tooth with things that are naturally sweet such as fruit, or some natural peanut butter with honey on some toast. Over time, your sugar addiction will lessen.
-
Good luck! I've got almost 100 to lose, myself!

you'll need to enter the amount of oil or butter that was used in the cooking process to accurately figure it out.

^^^ THIS.

Avocado is one of them. Can't seem to get enough of it. Lucky for me, it's healthy!

buying dry goods in bulk is a great tip. You can also probably find these things at a local Food Co-op (our local one has bulk rice, beans, etc for a good price).
