  • I agree with the others' ideas about mixing it up a little, substituting a sweet potato, and integrating more vegetables into your day. If you look at the colors of the meals you are eating, they are all pretty bland, so you're probably not going to get all the vitamins and minerals that your body needs with this type of…
  • Awww, she's not on Facebook anymore either...wish there was a way to contact her!
  • Usually I log my Leslie Sansone DVDs as walking at a brisk pace, but I am not familiar with this particular DVD so the one you do may be more involved than the typical Walk Away the Pounds DVDs...does it involve more movements than the basic four that are in every DVD? (kick backs, kicks, knee lifts, and side steps?)
  • Okay this challenge is already helping me. It's going to be a struggle for me to lose 30 pounds in 90 days, as I typically don't lose more than 2 pounds a week, but I am serious about trying for it. Today at work there were baby blueberry muffins and I wanted one so bad, and I almost gave in. Instead I remembered this…
  • I'm in...30 pounds will take me 100 pounds lost and I am SO looking forward to that milestone...I am so in...
  • Ohmigosh going through and deleting things is so eye opening...I can't believe I used to eat some of those things!

  • I would eat them every day if I could put them into my calories without going over. However, one thing that I know about myself is that one is never enough. The sugar in sweets truly makes me crave more, and I can never stop at one, so I am doing my best not to have sweets and sugary treats around because I know that…
  • Yay! Has Chubby Bunny seen this yet? She's been wanting this forever! Thanks Mike!
  • Welcome to MFP, and thank you so much for the service you hope to sign up for...it takes such a special person to serve in the military (I am a former Army wife, so I know the kinds of sacrifices our military members make). Best wishes on joining the military and on reaching your fitness goals!
  • When I get done I will have lost 190 pounds...122 left!
  • SBS, thanks for this info...this is great! Can you address the topic of how many minimum calories a morbidly obese person can safely eat per day without doing any damage to her metabolism or body? I of course realize that everyone is different, but is there a general guideline?
  • I wish I could help you...but I struggle with the same things. I jumped into my new lifestyle head first and swore I'd never look back. I was exercising, sticking to my calories every day, and seeing fabulous results. I took off 68 pounds fairly quickly, but have not been really back on track since Christmas. I have been…
  • Hey guys, I am going to be walking in the Relay for Life on March 30. This is so important to me because my grandmother died of lung cancer, and also because this is the first year that I've felt in good enough physical condition to walk the relay. I am so excited! I am accepting donations that will go directly to the…
  • Oh and for the milk or other liquid measurements, I've found that 8 ounces (1 cup) is pretty close to filling one of those small old fashioned jelly jars. It's probably got a 2 inch diameter and is about 4 inches tall if that helps.
  • This is a very rough estimate, but when I have a cup of Fiber One bran cereal, it typically fills about 1/3 of my standard sized bowl. Once I add the milk the bowl is a bit more than half way full. I would definitely invest in some measuring cups and spoons though as soon as you can (try the dollar store...they have them)
  • Last night I put on an old Backstreet Boys CD, strapped on my heart rate monitor, and just danced around like a goofball for 25 minutes. Burnt calories the fun way just by keeping in tune with the music and not playing any slow songs...
  • Banks has written a few posts about this, but basically, those of us in the obese weight range can safely have a larger deficit than 1000 calories per day, so it's okay for us to not eat our exercise calories. MFP says I should be eating 1470 calories per day, but because I am morbidly obese, I have set my calories to 1100…
  • I had to lose 60 pounds before I really noticed a change and could start wearing smaller sizes. Granted, I have a lot more weight to lose than you do, so I would think 27 pounds would definitely show a difference on you. I know it can be discouraging to be working so hard and not seeing the results, but keep up the great…
  • You've already gotten some great ideas, but I just went to the grocery store yesterday with my mom and was super excited about the things I got so I want to chime in too! Here's what we got! apples, pears, canteloupe, grapes, oranges radishes, romaine hearts, cucumbers, fresh broccoli, fresh asparagus hummus Pepperidge…
  • This seems a little high to me...mine is usually between 55-60. I would try it first thing in the morning, before you even get out of bed to get a true picture of your actual resting heart rate.
  • Hey! I'm in Shippensburg and am in Camp Hill every week for church...we should get together and walk or workout or something some day!
  • Just wanted to thank everyone who gave me some input about this...last night while I was at church my brother somehow got my computer to connect and it's been working ever since...I don't know how in the world he did it (and neither does hes) but it's been working ever since...thanks again guys!
  • I was able to get into the router on both computers...the desktop and my laptop if I plugged in the ethernet cable...I don't know what to do with the settings though... And there was probably a disk for the router when we bought it, but for some reason the guy who installed it took it with him we think because it's not…
  • I'm okay but very stressed. I am finally going to be going back to school to get my associate's degree, and while I'm very excited, the finances are stressing me out. Tuition: $1800, books $500, computer program that I need for one of my classes $100-$200, surgery $600, having OS removed and reinstalled on computer $100,…
  • The network consists of my brother's desktop, my laptop, and the modem and router of course. My computer is Vista, and I'm not sure what his is. My computer does recognize that the network exists, and it gives me the option to connect to it, but it comes up saying that I need credentials. It asks for a user name, password,…
  • Okay, I figure MFP is a site that has lots of people with lots of special skills, and that's the reason I'm putting this out there. I recently had to have my laptop's operating system completely wiped out and reinstalled, and because of that, my wireless network configurations are completely gone, and I don't know how to…
  • I think you may be eating too few calories...how much do you weight? what is your activity level? how tall are you? and how many pounds are you trying to lose per week?
  • I think 2 ounces dry makes 1 cup cooked...so it would be about 4 ounces...don't know how many grams that is though...
  • HAHA the peanut butter I can understand, but how in the world can someone who is watching their calories be without oatmeal!?! LOL!
