It isn't that I'm intimidated or that I have flimsy reasoning, I'm very firm in my beliefs. What it is is someone who seems to be curious about the lifestyle, taking things into consideration vs. someone who seems close minded and has their own views that aren't open to change. The latter are the people who ask you…

I saw a lot more argument against what someone else was saying to one thing or another rather than actual inquisition.

personally, I think Vegans can tend to get a bad rep because of crazy fringe groups, like some of the lunatics in PETA (not all of PETA are crazy, but I think everyone can admit there are crazies there) that try and shove their anti-meat agenda down people's throats. So people tend to see vegan and automatically assume…

and just for the record since no one else has posted anything similar--i'm vegan for many reasons including the environment, world hunger, animal liberation, and health. I don't believe everyone needs to be vegan but I do strongly believe everyone needs to knock down their meat/dairy intake to about once every 3 weeks or…

mickmelie You may think you're being nicer about it but by going on a pro-plant based thread and arguing your views over and over again even if its done in a seemingly nice sort of way, you're still being just like that man this post is about. Obviously you aren't changing any minds here and we aren't changing yours. Best…

LOVE ModCloth!!!!!!!

Tofurky vegan sausage has like 25g of protein per link!

Everybody in the world thinks they are entitled to their own opinion, and I suppose they are. Where most people are mistaken is that everybody also seems to believe that they need to tell everyone their opinion at all times, or that everybody is just dying to hear what they think. It is because they are ignorant fools.…

Vegan for 10 months here. Vegan for the animals, for the hungry people, for the environment. Vegan and LOVING it. :)

Last time I had a TOM my boyfriend asked me how come I never get into a crappy mood or anything. I don't gain weight either. Nothing changes except for the obvious. I told its because all of this TOM is just a myth. Maybe not completely a myth but I think its greatly exaggerated by people's belief that all of these things…

Sounds like Ima be a fattie.

Vegetarian Resource Group www.vrg.org has great info about vegetarianism and great recipes too. If you go to peta.org you can sign up for their weekly email and they always have a good recipe in that too. There's tons of veggie food with protein in it and a lot of times you can even eat it for a lot cheaper than you would…

All fiber makes you feel full, not just insoluable fiber. Like I said, if that were the case, 430 lb. men wouldn't be saying 1 glass fills them up. If you don't believe me, try looking into it for yourself. I would say most things the FDA come up with are a joke. Can't argue with you there.
-
Plus removing some of the insoluable fiber in the really tough to digest foods helps your body extract more nutrients and enzymes from those foods that you wouldn't normally get.
-
Well I use a blender right now when I do liquids because I haven't gotten a juicer yet. The only things that should have any leftover in a juicer would be tough vegetables like celery. The bulk of it should be leafy green vegetables which break down very easily. Granted, if you use a juicer some of the insoluable fiber if…

If it was just processed strained juice like you buy in the grocery store you wouldn't have 430lb. men saying a glass of it fills them up.
-
You don't throw any of it away...it all gets processed and liquified.
-
Yes, McDonalds is quite disgusting. I boycott them.
-
Like I said, you would have to read about it or watch the documentaries yourself to understand what you are talking about. Juice fasting isn't a way of life. Its a temporary cleansing/jumpstart to weight loss and healthy eating. Its basically a raw vegan diet in a more convenient juice and go fashion. High in…

It isn't the fact that its in juice form that reboots your system. Its the foods you're putting into the juice form that reboot your system. Getting away from unhealthy foods and processed and/or refined foods.
-
Try watching the movie, "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead". It will answer all your questions and inspire you as well. For the quick answer from someone who has watched it: The point of drinking juiced fruits and veggies rather than just eating the fruits and veggies is because if you just ate fruits/veggies you'd have to eat…

If I had to say which group was more selfish, people who want kids or people do don't, I would have to say I think its people who do want to have kids. I know sometimes people feel like they want to have that parent-child relationship and have someone always be there for them. If you really think about it though the reason…

I am 27 and child free by choice. I have considered, at some more financially stable point in the future, fostering or adopting a child. Not like a newborn child, though. I'm not even sure if I would ever even do that. I've always said ever since I was a young child that I didn't want to have any kids. Everyone always said…

You look at studies done in which people are asked do you eat ___? if so, how often? and you see which group of people has the lowest weight.
-
Wow, what an awful thread full of awful comments. What is wrong with you people? You are not a nutritionist. You do not know everything. Stop acting like it.

I'm not saying time of day has been conclusively proven because it hasn't but to all the people who think calories are the only thing that matter in a diet, take a look around you and get some common sense. Its pretty easy to figure out. When you take a look at what Americans eat vs. what thinner countries eat, and weight…
-
Its not proven at all that it doesn't matter what time of day somebody eats. And I'm not saying no one should ever eat 5pm. I'm not the 5pm nazi. I eat after 5pm. But I'm losing weight right now. I was just saying whats worked for me in the past. I stopped eating after 5pm a few years ago and coupling that with cutting…
-
Wow. I have bad legs, but 6.0 isn't a walk for me, its sprinting as fast as I can.
-
I agree with drinking lots of water. Also stop eating after 5pm if you currently do. Also up your calorie intake from 1200 to 1500. At 150 lbs your metabolism should burn enough to eat more than 1200 a day and still lose weight. You are hitting a plateau but feeding your body will kick your metabolism back into shape.
