I so agree. I went vegetarian/vegan back in 2011, shed 35 pounds very quickly and gained most of it back. I am now doing it the correct way (I still live a mostly vegetarian/vegan lifestyle, I usually only eat meat 2-3 times per week) by consistent exercise, and charting down EVERYTHING I eat.
