  • First of all, you're not a failure. You're human, and humans make mistakes and do impulsive things. Pick yourself back up, jump back on the wagon, and finish the ride. If you accept this hurdle for what it is (a bump in the road... NOT a failure), then it's easier to get back on track and continue. Tomorrow.... start over.…
  • I'm having the same problem with my platuea... I will try eating more protein to try and see if that will help. Also, I stopped exercising for the last week so my body could "rest". I have heard that works wonders!
  • Thank you all so much for your quick responses! :)
  • Honeycrisp! :) They are amazing!
  • i go to planet fitness and have used the personal trainer, who is free with your membership. he is definitely worth it! i find that my motivation comes from within me... i have tried everything else, but if i don't force myself off the couch and out the door, i won't go. so... every other day, i have to force myself off…
  • I'm in!!! I think This is great! I'll start tomorrow.
  • completely agree... if you're body isn't getting enough fuel, you will store every calorie you take in as fat and not lose any weight. try exercising less (30 minutes/day) and eating your calories that are suggested. you'll see results :)
  • I buy the EAS carb control pre-mixed shakes to add protein to my meals... especially breakfast, since i just eat plain oatmeal. I have found that the shakes have really helped boost my muscle building and i'm shaping up differently. it's not always about what the scale says (i had to find that out the hard way). as your…
  • yes!!!!! love them!!!! my daughter just saw them this past weekend at the uproar fest in indiana :)
  • holy crap!!!!! you look great! great advice, by the way! :)
  • I follow the Body for Life program. I just started a new challenge today. It's not easy, but it allows me to have a "free day" once a week where you eat what you want and you rest, so no exercise. It's the best program I've ever followed :)
  • Your husband is right... you need to eat more calories! You need to eat 1510 BEFORE exercise. If your net is 1510, then you should be eating at least 1650-1700/day when you exercise. If you aren't at least eating that much, then your body thinks you're "starving" and everything you eat will be stored as fat. That's never…
  • Welcome!!! :) Good luck with the journey.... lots of bumps in the road, but the end result is worth it. :)
  • I am not running an official challenge through the website... I'm just starting a challenge that people can be a part of... we can encourage each other and weigh-in every couple of weeks. I plan on following the eating plan and exercise schedule to a tee. If anyone wants to do this with me, add me as a friend and write…
  • My daughter and my husband are my biggest supporters. My daughter is naturally thin (and a little underweight... the turd!!), but she has seen how much of a struggle this has been for me. She does everything she can to make me feel like I'm doing a good job. My husband keeps telling me how sexy I am... that's motivation to…
  • Welcome! I find that, in today's world, it's hard to maintain a healthy food lifestyle.... especially when my co-workers are always bringing in donuts and cookies! I don't eat them, tho... but I look to my friends on mfp for encouragement. Sometimes, just reading their status updates and their success stories is enough to…
  • exercise is essential for overall health and wellness. anyone can lose weight by cutting calories, but if you want your body to change in a positive way and burn calories, you have to exercise. losing weight without exercise is a long process. even the "Jenny Craig" and "Weight Watchers" spokespeople exercise, they just…
  • I go to Planet Fitness. There is a circuit training area there (like curves has), but it only costs $10/month for a PF membership! It's very cost effective, plus they have free personal trainers if you would like to use one. I find that I burn a ton of calories using the circuit at PF. :)
  • I eat 6 times a day, so I usually don't get hungry. But, there are some rare occasions where I am hungry (as in stomach growling loudly) between meals. When that happens, I eat an extra snack (small one, such as a handful of almonds or a piece of string cheese). Allowing yourself to be hungry like that is not a good idea.…
  • They're right.... you did great!! Don't sweat the small stuff..... and don't focus on what you think you did wrong. Focus on what you did right, which was to get up, go to the gym, work your tail off, and have a super awesome burn! You should be very proud of yourself :)
  • Did you enter your weight into the eliptical? I find when I don't enter my weight, I burn quite a bit less than what it says I burn.
  • I have rather healthy eating habits, and I share my diary with my friends. If you like, add me and I'd be happy to help out in any way I can. Weight loss buddies are the best way to fight the battle of the bulge
  • i try to walk at that pace at least once a week. i think it's perfect, as long as you're getting your heart rate up. It's worked for me so far :) good luck!!
  • About the belly flab, I've heard the best way to get rid of it is cardio.... it's worked great for me!! Good luck!!
  • I, too, am a sugar junkie. I have had to make several changes in my eating habits to avoid holding onto weight because of my sugar intake. Here are the rules I follow: 1) no processed sugars (anything that comes in a box, says "little debbie", or doesn't come from a tree)... that includes fruit in a can. dried fruit and…
  • I know how you feel! I am definitely not a morning person either, but I have to be in the office at 7am. I can't deal with the idle chatter of my co-workers either. I just want to sit here, drink my coffee, force myself to check my emails and phone messages, and try to wake up. By 8:30am, I'm sufficiently able to deal with…
  • I like that idea of doing wall push ups in the bathroom... sounds great! This may sound morbid, but we have a large cemetary right behind my office... I try to walk through it for at least 15 mintues twice a week. I also do cardio every night, so that extra movement during the day gives me extra energy to get through a…
  • I take one day a week off every week for rest... I follow the body for life program, so I do 3 days of cardio and 3 days of weight training. That "day of rest", or free day, rejuvinates my body and I am ready to get back into it the next day.
