Also, you all are awesome.

True story, but I suppose it's because I'm a transplant from Wisconsin. Black & red > black & gold.

Aww, you guys, where's the love?

I like the Clif builder bars. I didn't like them initially, but now they're my favorite. Luna bars are also ok, but in my mind they're the "girly" Clif bar - definitely marketed toward women, smaller, lower cal, lower protein. IMO, not quite as tasty, either. Quest bars are super popular, but I think they're gross …

I have had this scale for almost two years and I use it multiple times a day (I use it a ton when I am baking in addition to weighing my meals, since it saves considerably on cleanup - fewer measuring cups and spoons to wash!). It's cheap, durable (I have dropped it on the floor several times >.>) and easy to clean, so I'd…

Agree. How much do you eat? What are your macros? Do you only do cardio or do you also do resistance training? Do you weigh your food? Are you consistent and accurate with your logging and your workouts? Getting a dream body in a year might be an unrealistic goal, but quitting is the one guaranteed way to NOT get it.

Are you sure he wasn't a stand-up comedian?

My diary is public, feel free to take a look-see or friend me. I do most of my own cooking and I tend to go through periods of eating the same type of thing for a few weeks at a time before moving on to something different, so I'm sure it will look pretty tedious (I also didn't log around Christmas). I've been sick so…

I usually do a lot of cooking on the weekend and put the leftovers in the freezer. I don't eat breakfast, but I still like breakfast foods so I'll eat them for lunch or snacks or what-have-you. My go-tos are: - baked oatmeal. I change it up every week so that I don't get bored because, like you said, regular oatmeal gets…

Whole milk! I'm from Wisconsin originally, so, yeah, milk was a big part of my life growing up. Not in my coffee, though  Black for me! I get local milk directly from a farmer and it's awesome.

Since your food diary is closed, it's kind of hard to give advice, but I would suggest you check your protein intake. I aim for 100-115g per day, typically, and generally do not suffer from hunger or cravings (unless I've been drinking :drinker:). Protein, as someone else mentioned, helps keep you feeling full, and is also…

I wouldn't let it get to you like this, if you are being literal. You'd be off by maybe 200 calories, even if you ate an entire extra serving, which sounds unlikely. That won't even make a noticeable dent in a week's worth of deficits. Try to think long-term, to help keep things in perspective. ETA, I see from your profile…

This, most definitely. I know you said your scale is broken, but definitely invest in a new one as soon as you can. It's extremely eye-opening how inaccurate using measuring cups/spoons and other volume-based methods of measuring are. Plus, it's just an awesome tool to have around the house. I love having an accurate…

Logging everything (even the 5000+ calorie days) and using a food scale to weigh EVERYTHING. I know that if I'm not honest and consistent, I'm wasting my time. Lifting weights, starting with a basic beginner's program like Stronglift 5x5 or Starting Strength that steadily progresses in intensity/weight so as to ensure I…

Coffee as black and bitter as my soul.

I gained ~8 lb, but I'm ok with that - Christmas cookies come but once a year.

I hope you do give it a try! I have always been a natural IFer - I've never been a breakfast person, and I'm happiest with nothing but black coffee until noon or 2 (I don't have strict eating/fasting windows, just eat when I get hungry, but it usually works out to a 14:10 kind of thing). I tried to force myself to eat…

Not yet, since I rolled out of bed with a mild hangover and twenty minutes to get ready for work. And after work I'm going to my sister's for a good luck New Year's dinner, but then after THAT, I'll finally get my workout in. It's upper body lifting day, so OHP, BOR, bench press, dips, and pushups, here I come. I'll be…

All the people saying how you spend your New Year's day sets the tone for your entire year is depressing me... I am currently at work (granted, I'm not actually WORKING....), so it's gonna be a gloomy year! As far as food - gotta get as much luck in as possible! Pork (in this case, ham), collard greens, black eyed peas.…

For the first quarter: 1 - Improve my consistency in terms of average calories consumed. I tend to be all over the place. 2 - Get back into early morning cardio, so that it's done and out of the way before I go to work, and leaves my afternoons free for other activities/workouts 3 - Save up for a better (heavier) barbell…

I don't even really think of them as setbacks anymore, so much as a change in priorities due to other life events. For a while, I will prioritize something else over health and fitness and subsequently gain weight back temporarily, like at Christmas when I prioritized food and family. I ate well over my maintenance every…

:drinker: Have you read Dance, Dance, Dance? Possibly my favorite Murakami

I'm currently reading Gaudy Night by Dorothy Sayers and Miss Pym Disposes by Josephine Tey (I love well-written and intelligent mysteries), and also vol 3 of Preacher. The book I most recently finished was the Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood. Would most certainly recommend them all (and I really, really need to get…

Excellent read, thank you so much!

I waste a fair amount of time admiring my own muscles in the mirror. It's a totally obnoxious habit, but I live alone, so it's ok?

Sense of humor. But that goes for everyone, imo.

I'll have what she's having! :drinker: :smokin:
