Honestly, the safety of such a goal greatly depends on your starting weight. If you are obese/overweight, then there likely wouldn't be any huge health risks from losing that much. That is about 2 2/3 lbs a week. It is doable.

Great job! Good to know. I have pretty aggressive goals, so I am wanted to aim between 1200-1400 a day. I weight 229 now and I am trying to get back to 199 within the next 2-2 1/2 months. I hope I can achieve that by coupling this with a steady fitness plan!

Vegetarian diets are only good for the things you mentioned if you are careful and prudent about eating well balanced meals. I was vegetarian for a little over a year and I gained 35lbs! Ive never tried this intentionally. Does it positively impact metabolism/weight loss? The concept is interesting. I'd be afraid that I'd over eat because I was hungry though.
