  • Counting calories. Exercising everyday -no excuses.
  • MFP is no substitute for a doctor and heart trouble can be serious( deadly , as a matter of fact). As one who has been successful at a significant weight loss I only give you my opinion of my experiences and I am not a doctor. I do know that below 1200 calories is not good in any form as it will lead to a host of…
  • 5' 2.5" I am recently down to 133- 138 lbs. I can get into size 4 misses if made loose or elastic waist ( Sears Laura Scott). Have size 6 in Lee jeans and size 8 in Gloria Vanderbilt skinny jeans. I recently tried on a 9 in Juniors, although they fit, not on my body type as I am 56 yrs old.
  • I started running a little over a year ago and although I didn't want to pay the high price tag for good running shoes, I am happy I did and would recomend getting fitted at a running store. I wear Asics foundation. I have flat feet and over pronate (it really stabilizes my foot). I now run 5-7 miles 5 days a week. I wear…
  • Look for curvy fit. Try Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans or a juniors size.
  • It is the dry meaure. I eat one third cup dry plus 2/3 cup water (microwave)and it is 100 calories. I have started adding a tablespoon of ground flax (35 cal) to up the protein and nutrition.
  • I have PCOS , endometriosis, and irregualr.(diagnosed by laprascope over 20 years ago) I went thru over 5 years of fertillity treatments to get pregnant and after giving up on it all I became pregnant and now have a healthy 22 year old son . I follow low carb,1200 cal diet to control my sugar (was pre diabetic and had high…
  • I am gluten free, but not dairy free. I love my snack of natural peanut butter on a carmel rice cake. Not sure that it is dairy free (have to read the fine print on rice cakes ).
  • carmel rice cake and 1TBSP natural peanut butter (150 cal) plain greek yogurt 5 oz and 2 TBSP PB2 (133 cal) South Beach protein bar cinamon raison (140 cal) Sugar free chocholate pudding ( made with skim milk) 3/4 cup (120 cal) Weight Watchers cheese stick (50 cal)
  • Walk or run 5-6 miles. I run 7 miles 5 days a week in 65 min. If you can't run then you can still burn cals by walking 5-6 miles ,but it will just take more time.
  • I have a true gluten allergy. I break out in a terrible itching rash and litterally suffered, itched and scrathed till I bled for years until I found the cause was gluten. When I went gluten free The itching stopped wwithin3 days and the rash diappeared within 2 weeks. I wish I would have known this years ago. I would eat…
  • Never worry about going over on the protein unless you have some sort of health problem(ie kidney disease). I have my macros set to 100 g of protein, 100g of carbs and 50 g of fat. I eat 1200-1300 cals and did so for most of my weight loss. My exercise is very high and that is why I need the protein. I burn 500-1000 cals a…
  • They haven't learned to live a new lifestyle. I have maintained my loss for more than 6 months and I STILL count my calories, exercise everyday, and live a new healthy lifestyle.I have all new clothes size 28 down to 8 and am NEVER" going back". It is just as hard today as it was the day I "started my diet". I want to be…
  • I go to the gym for the pool! My gym is actually a resort 3 miles from my house and for a fee($285/year) I have access to a fitness center, pool and hot tub with nice changing room and shower. I have a treadmill at home and a hot tub,but I enjoy the socialization at the pool and as my husband is retired and home all day it…
  • My newest snack treat is 5 oz. Chobani greek yogurt (plain) , 2 Tbs PB2, 1 equal packet and mix.133 calories. It's like peanut butter pudding.
  • I plan on at least 3 snacks a day. I fit this into a 1200 cal daily diet usually 100 - 200 cal snack. Even when I eat the snack, I always want more, but since I count calories I know I have had enough. The math number tells me this and I know that even if I feel hungry I am not "starving". My best strategies are removing…
  • Sodium! I always gain at least 2 lbs and sometimes up to 4 lbs when I eat out even in my calorie allotment. It usually goes away in 2-4 days, so I keep that in mind, but I only eat out about once a month.
  • Usually you get what you pay for. u really need one that has a good power motor so it doesn't burn up. Then you want to make sure it has speed, distance and incline adjustable, usually they have a heart rate moniter, but you could do without if you have an HRM of your own . You want to try it in the store to make sure the…
  • I have been thru several scales and the ones I really like are the glass digital ones that weigh to 0.1 lbs. I do find that they seem to retain a memory weight, but I do a doulble weigh to combat this issue. I first zero the scale and then stand on it with a heavy object( I use my cat if he is around or a decorative rock I…
  • I would try to find one that I could use (a friend or gym) and see if it was what I really wanted before purchasing. I have yet to find a bike I can comfortably sit on for any length of time, which is why I use a treadmill.
  • Food scale for $20 at target. It weighs in grams, or ounces at the click of a button. You are using a computer , so you should be able to get the hang of it. A serving of meat (3-4oz) is the size of a deck of cards. Once you get the hang of it it becomes second nature to weigh. My scale stays next to the stove and NOTHING…
  • I have had heel pain in the past and custom arches helped immediately , but they were super expensive(over$200). My sis had the same problem and suffered thru it(she is a nurse on her feet all day) but it took almost a year of exercising her heel to feel better. Good shoes do make a difference if they were causing the…
  • I still get about 3 LB catalogs and I guess they haven't figured out that I can no longer wear their sizes. I now am able to shop in stores . My prayers have been answered, At first it felt odd, but now I am getting used to it.
  • Fruit is missing from my diet because of the extra sugar and I was pre-diabetic before I lost the weight. When I do eat fruit or too much of it, which for me is more than 1 serving a week I have "problems". I get plenty of veggies which give me the fiber I need to keep things "moving".
  • Looks like the cereal, baked beans and pasta are thowing you over. Try some fat free cheeses, greek yogurt and keeping carbs to smaller portions. You can check my diary.
  • Make your own soups, stews, veggie mixes like ratatouille in large batches and freeze. Serve along side a lean meat made fesh. I freeze just about everything in one serving size pieces and thaw the night before. Fresh always tastes best, so always have something fresh with the frozen meal.
  • Good for you and keep at it! A year ago I started running at 4.5 MPH (more than a 13.3 min mile) and could only do it for a 30 second stretch. I kept at it and run everyday, no excuses. Today I average a 9 minute mile (6.7 MPH) for a sustained 7 miles. It would have been unbelievable to me if you would have told me that a…
  • I ask this question all the time and have tried various changes. more carbs, more protein, more calories etc. I have come to the conclusion that even when I eat 3000 calories a day I am still "hungry". All my blood work is normal , I eat healthy( 100g protein,100g carb,50g fat) and I am at my goal wt . I definately am not…
  • 2 years ago I started the SB diet at my doctors suggestion (I have gluten allergy and was pre-diabetic). I still use it to some degree, but had a nutritionist tweak it and adapted especially for me. (I just couldn't stand ricotta cheese) .
  • Whenever I say "The Lord's Prayer" give us this day our daily bread........I add to myself the phrase "and no more" . I think of the mana sent in the dessert and only to gather the amount needed and no more. Also John 5:5 (at the pool of Bethesda Jesus asks the question) " Do you want to get well ?" As I had made progress…
