  • I make a list of meals for the week with paper and pencil I make a list of foods needed to make the meals for the week I ask hubby if there is anything he wants not on my list I shop, he unloads and puts away If there is anything we didn't get that wasn't on "the list" OH Well we'll survive!
  • It is possible to be fabulous at 50 (i'm 56). Not that I have the tone I did years ago. Age does take a toll. However I am MORE fit and feel great than I was in high school. You have to want it enough to be motivated to accomplish your goals.
  • It is my understanding that most of the 5% continue to log their food in some way and have changed their eating style/ way of life on a permanent basis. This is why I am continuing on MFP. I have kept my weight off for 3 months and have no intention "of going back there" again.I don't give up even if a have a bad day or…
  • Greek yogurt, rice cake with peanut butter, cheese stick or babybel lite and strawberries, protein bar, all fast and easy and 100-200 cals
  • Happened to me also when I went to visit family. A week of indulgence got me a 12 lb gain. I got it off in 2 weeks. Most of it came off in the first week . I think it was the sodium content that made me retain water. Don't fret, just keep moving forward.
  • I lost all of my weight on 1200-1300 cal a dayand di not "eat back"y exercise cals. I lost about 2 lbs a week consistently for 18 months. It just is not healthy to eat less than 1200 and you probably can't get proper nutrition unless you are taking special supplements or are under a doctors care (i.e. bypass surgery).
  • It has taken me 18 months to lose the weight. I've been at goal for 3 months. I have a 5-10 lb window and as soon as I gain I start again on 1200 cals and vigorous exercise until I am back down. it is still a struggle and I look at logging as a lifestyle.
  • I was never skinny. As a child I was always medium to large as compared to my classmates. I entered high school wearing a size 13/14 at 135 lbs 5'3" and left high school at the same size. In my 20s I went up to 215 and then lost 70bs to get back to 145 (I was going thru a divorce at the time) . I stayed there for about a…
  • Add garlic powder or minced garlic, or onion, thyme, basil , oregano, pepper etc.Any seasoning as long as its not salt. I sauteed onions in a non-stick pan with PAM and they browned and were so sweet just by themselves. I have learned to like all veggies even plain. It takes a little while to get used to the taste of the…
  • I started running in Jan. C25K and tthe shoes (as others have said) made a difference. I have flat feet and wear Asics Foundation ($99). I know it is a lot, and I didn't want to spend that much either, BUT it was worth every penney. I take good care of them and only wear them for running. My shin aches went away after a…
  • Anyone using the "barefoot shoes" with the toes? My running store is featuring them half price next week ( they say they are not selling) and I am very curious. Only once did I see someone wearing them and that was a teenager in an airport. I am concerned about support as I run 5-7 miles a day 6 days a week.
  • I have a Kureig for 3 years and love it.I buy the dark magic or columbian K cup when I want a strong brew. It depends on my mood. Mostly l like the convenience of it. I hate dealing with the grounds. I use a french press for company or more than 1 cup.
  • Mind , Face then Bod. "You just can't fix stupid".
  • I run 5-7 miles plus swim an hour, 6 days a week. I feel great . What is wrong with that????????
  • I am 56 yrs and have just lost 180+ lbs in less than 2 years. My Mom who is 81 lost 70 lbs. There is hope if you have the "want to".I was on BP pills for 10 years and was starting on diabetic meds. I could barely walk because my knees hurt. I thought this was my fate because of gentetics and age. NOT SO. I ate 1200 cal,…
  • Giving my "old " opinion (I'm 56yrs).It's been my experience for a girl to have mostly guy friends because she likes the way she feels when she interacts with them.I don't think she really has the intention of cheating, but it happens more often than not. When she truly meets the man of her dreams the guy thing fades.
  • WE are here to help and I am living proof what calorie counting, exercise and committment can do . I went from 323 lbs to 145 lbs in 18 months (size 28/30 to an 8). I have been maintaining 140-145lbs for 3 months now. Feel free to message me, sorry I can't add friends right now as I have as many that I feel I can handle on…
  • After 2 years I still have binge days. Actually for me the cravings never went away, just the ability to deal with them has improved. Getting all the unhealthy stuff out of the house for the 1st few weeks helped. I still have my hubby keep protein bars hidden. It seems alittle drastic, but those trigger foods can really…
  • meat, nuts, greek yogurt, cheesesticks, eggs
  • Healthy eating will get you there winning your bet. My husband lost 30 lbs as I was losing my weight from eating healthier foods and better cooking techniques. We cut out fried, processed, junk and fast food. Some healthy alternatives are greek yogurt(open container), rice cakes and natural peanut butter, eggs(eggwhites),…
  • Salt, anything that is processed, comes in a box or can, deep fried anything
  • I am struggling with maintaining. It has been 3 months so far and am trying within a 5-10 lb limit. Each time I eat a little over it sends me into a day or two of weight gain of 5-10 lbs and then I struggle all week to get it off again. I find it best so far to weigh everyday and it is easier to work on a 2-5 lb gain than…
  • I have lost 180+ lbs and have the same thing going on. I am still shrinking and I have been at goal wt for 3 months. When I was in my 20s I lost 70 lbs and it all went back. However, since I am 55 now, I doubt it. I am not headed for surgery and will live with what is. My doc told me to wait at least a year and do some…
  • I would love to be an ispiration to the "older" crowd. I am soon to be 56 years. Two years ago I could barely walk thru the door at the gym, I had high blood pressure, newly diagnosed diabetes, and just felt tired all the time and it depressed me. Today.... I have lost over 180 lbs,am free of all meds, I RUN 5-7 miles…
  • I AM allergic to gluten and even if I have a tiny bit ( 1 TBSP of barbQ sauce) I can feel the total effects of it. I don't think you can truly make a judgement about it if you aren't totally gluten-free. On the other hand, as soon as I went gluten -free I felt fine in 3 days. All symptoms disappeared. So i would try it…
  • To lose my weight I ate a strict 1200-1300 cal diet plus exercise(Idid not eat back my exercise calories) I am currently at goal wt and have started adding in more calories, but I seem to gain 5-10 lbs then resort back to the 1200 cals to lose it again.
  • I weigh everthing on my digital which was about $20. I even take it on vacations. I use paper plates for large quantities and small condiment cups for small things. I have even weighed dry spaghetti.I find it eally helps for peanut butter, nuts, and things that are high in calories for a small amount
  • I have weighed myself before and after intense workout and actually lose 2-3 lb during my workout. I sweat THAT much. After my meal and rehydrate I gain back a pound or two and gain steadily throughout the day. I lose 1-2 lbs at night when I sleep.
  • I only gained 15 lbs while pregnant and was back to my beginning weight within few weeks after delivery. I was however over 200 lbs and OB sent me to a nutritionist to have a healthy diet while being pregnant. As I recall she had me on an 1800 cal diet (22 years ago).
  • I usually am in bed by 10pm and wake up around 7 or 7:30. I get into my exercise clothes and am at the gym and on the treadmill by 8AM. I do the treadmill for 60- 80 minutes, then it is into the pool for an hour. After, I use the hot tub for 20 minutes and then shower. I do this 6 days a week and don't change my schedule…
