I used both my 5# dumb bells, held together. Those were harder than they looked! I do Russian twists but putting the weights to the floor at my side made it harder!

Well, we do have tornadoes in WI, BUT most homes (and a lot of businesses) have BASEMENTS in WI. Makes a huge difference in a tornado. A couple of years ago an entire town nearby was wiped off the map. There were no serious injuries, no fatalities. Everyone got to a basement, and basements don't blow away with the rest of…

I am doing bodyweight exercises that I've found online, and it I am definitely gaining strength. A gym membership is not in my budget, either. You can do it!

I stayed with "eclectic" through high school. We used Sonlight for history and literature, or at least used it as a starting point, and went off on personal interests. Math was entirely dependent on the personality and needs. Tons of reading and I took grammar, vocabulary. etc. from that. Science was various college texts.…

HI, I'm Sharon. I'll be doing the Challenger exercises and the serious commitment (130 miles) walking challenge. My starting weight is 133. End goal 120.......which is quite a goal, considering I've stayed stagnant since Christmas!!! But this should kick me back into committed and consistent with the exercising! Thanks,…

My food log isn't my ex - it isn't going to hit me if I'm not perfect. So I have no fear of being imperfect here. I can be honest. And that, my friends, is an NSV!!!!! Thanks. I hadn't thought of that before.

I'm very surprised the dentist or oral surgeon didn't give you specific instructions or a timetable! I was eating by day 3, and did just fine. I was careful, and rinsed my mouth (with saltwater, if I remember correctly - it was YEARS ago), but once I was no longer in pain, I was told to eat whatever I wanted. I didn't…

I'm making dark chocolate, pecan & cranberry bark for my daughters and myself. Mmmmmm. Beyond that it is something needed for summer wear, and we dye eggs together to hide for the youngest.

Put me down for the serious commitment group!

What an interesting and exciting group! I'm looking forward to working with you all, and getting to know you better! I will be in the Challengers group, which is a bit scary because I have not been burning anywhere near 500 cals a day!!! But, I'm not going to do it any younger! It's time! Thank you, Teresa, for all…

PC, cell, laptop (my daughter is on it) and that is amazingly ALL.

Eggs are inexpensive, low calorie, highly nutritious and filling. Any fresh veggies I buy are whole - not conveniently cut up for me. They're much less expensive and retain more nutrients if you cut them yourself. Beans are great food. Ramen, on the other hand, probably has no nutritional value at all, and are not filling.…

I gained 40 on a med.....it was VERY depressing!!!! I was able to get off, eventually, but it is taking a ton of work and time to get it back off.

Welcome to MFP! I recently moved from a windy plains state AFB city with crazy weather......I walked the mall and did workout videos at home when the weather wasn't conducive to being outside. Part of the year it was so crazy hot that when we were outside, we were in water! I chose to get up and play in the splash pad with…

Wear some UGLY glasses and say you just got the new prescription and want to go show off to all your friends. Put green food dye on the cheese in his sandwich. Call and ask him "what's our address? What is your last name?" Call back half an hour later and ask the same two questions. Develop a new fear (ants, dust bunnies,…

Thank you, Teresa! I am Sharon, aka quietlywinning. I'm looking forward to this summertime challenge! I've been on MFP since almost the end of May of last year, so my one year anniversary is also coming up. My initial goal was 40 pounds, and I lost steadily until Christmas and just a very little since then. I am 27 pounds…
