I agree, Tammy. Add about 200 to 300 calories food (not supplements) a day for about a week. The worst that can happen is that you will maintain your weight, which is what is happening anyway but at least you will feel better.

Sorry to say this, but I have read posts from a lot of MFP people in the forums commenting that MFP is too HIGH in their exercise estimates. For me, I have found MFP to be very accurate. I record my exercise here and always eat back those calories. I have met all my weight loss goals while on MFP, so that is why I think…

The only way is to 'constantly' keep an eye on them. I always hovered in the background, not interfering until I saw something I didn't like, then just distracted them, not scolded. Like saying "oh, look at that cloud in the sky, or what ever" then making sure they had some project or activity to do rather than being…

I say bad because aspertame works as a preservative (keeps fat from metabolizing properly). Also, the other additives (like flavors, etc) cause the liver to work harder to remove these impurities from your system. Your liver is the organ you want to pamper (not overwork) when losing weight because it is the one that…

You are right. Sometimes you are doing everything 'right' but the scale simply will NOT move. I looked at your diary and your eating looks great. The only advice I have is for you to do something DIFFERENT, (even if it seems wrong - like lower intensity of exercise, rest more, etc. - just to see what happens). We are all…

I don't skimp on the oil. It is an essential nutrient that keeps you healthy and helps with fat loss. I count every calorie of butter, flax oil, cod liver oil, olive oil and grape seed oil that I include in my daily eating. I make sure I measure each time so there is no cheating. I have not had a problem keeping under my…

Great suggestion! I think that is why I don't gain weight on vacation. I do a lot of window shopping and site seeing.

I'm on the same page as you Sleepy. You describe my own situation and thought process exactly. I'm thinking that exercise helps control my appetite, focuses my thoughts, and relieves stress. I marvel at the people that can keep on track without exercise calories to eat.

First, all my sympathy about the miscarriage. I had a couple of those myself but had a happy ending and have a son who will be celebrating his 22nd birthday soon. Second, concentrate on GOOD NUTRITION, rather than losing weight. Hunger means your body is lacking nutrition. I don't see why you have to be a healthy BMI to…

I workout every day but my routines work different parts of the body and I have different levels of intensity. I mix it up with yoga, strength training, cardio, or just walking. Like other posters, I don't do well planning off days. It stresses me out to add this layer of 'on' and 'off' days and I get really hungry if I…

I think genetics plays a part in how visible stretch marks are, but I rubbed Vitamin E on mine after I had my son and they all but disappeared. That was 20+ years ago. I now have noticeable stretch marks on my inner thighs and haven't put anything on them since I don't care about that as much now. It reminds me I might try…

This is what worked for me: I didn't get down on myself about my appearance but thought about meeting my goals each day. They were 1) some form of exercise 6 days a week and 2) meet my calorie total that calculated a 1/2 lb weight loss per week. I focused completely on those two things and felt 'successful' every day I met…

Glad you are my friend. Great info and help for those of us who aren't computer whizzes!

Ha, ha. Nice rant...but oh so true!

This is what I do. I know that I could not be content with only 100 cals for dinner. That is also why I plan my meals ahead of time to the extent that I can. If I indeed just ate (I don't care how nutritious) 100 cals that entire evening, the next day would be a disaster for me. I would be so hungry that I would make bad…

I think the causes are mostly genetic, although stress, sleep deprivation, and poor nutrition can exacerbate breakouts. I was not overweight and had good nutrition 35 years ago and eliminated my acne by going to a dermatologist and receiving treatment. When my son was a teenager, he must have inherited the same tendency…

I plan about 80% of my meals. This really lessens my stress and helps me keep on track. If I 'listen to my body' and eat off plan I tend to overeat - not alot, but enough to put me over calories for the day. For me, I know I will have to plan most meals (like I do now) ahead of time or my weight will begin to creep back…

I have eaten them back (every last one) from day one and have met all my weight loss goals. For me this is a no-brainer, If I can eat more and stil lose, I am all about it.
-
I do the same too because it is easier to track and I know I am getting the correct number of calories and nutrition. It hasn't hurt me, in fact I think it has really helped me to de-stress about food and eating in general.

I have always only maintained a deficit to lose 1/2 lb a week since I started MFP so basically have never eaten less than about 250 cals under maintenance. However, since I have been losing weight (at an actual rate of about 1 lb a week), my calories have gotten less as time has gone on since my BMR dropped along with my…

My one year anniversary was last March. I am more dedicated about logging than I was at first because as I reach my goal weight, the loss has slowed and I have to be more precise in my exercise and food quantities and quality. I see myself continuing for at least another year because in order to get leaner, not necessarily…

My opinion - I don't think cutting out healthy fats will help. Cutting out sugar, white flour, processed foods, preservatives (including unneeded additives like artificial sugar and flavors) and empty calories like alcohol will help more.

Great post. Agree, agree, agree.

Too funny! I needed a good laugh! Sad part is your topic is no more impossible than some people's 'real' goals I've seen!

Sorry, but even though I used to like the food, I've stopped eating there because nothing on the menu fits my eating plan. The BBQ sauce has HFCS, the meats are high in fat, there are too many carbs, and the lettuce for salads is pretty blah.

I'm anemic (HCT = 30 to 31) and until very recently had 100 times the amount of iron in my system than normal. Having iron overload prevented me from losing weight because the iron was so toxic it caused painful inflammation throughout my body, especially the joints and around the heart so exercise was impossible. Also, my…

Same here.

I'm with you, I have been sick until just recently and I am not as young as I used to be, so I can't workout strenuously. I just do what I can and don't compete with anyone except myself. I make sure I get some form of 'planned' exercise each day even if someone else would just laugh and say why bother? For me, the proof…

I find this is the hardest notion for dieters to "believe": that under-eating can derail weight loss as much as overeating can. The optimum fat burning zone is a slight deficit, not a LARGE deficit. The stickiest part is defining the size of the deficit. What is "large" for me could be "small" for someone else. Thanks for…

Sorry, no advice. Alcohol (esp wine) slows my weight loss even if I stay within my calorie limit. I have really cut back. I used to have a glass of wine just about every evening, but now I don't really miss it because I have gotten such good results making that one small change. :brokenheart:
