  • My husband and I are both doing it. I was watching what I ate first, then he started using MFP and got me using it. I guess I had made an account here like a year before, but never used it until recently.
  • Ice cream this week, damn PMS. Usually it's steak, which I don't mind seeing the calories from.
  • Wow, well I'm proud of you and I don't even know you. Just for getting through all you've been through. I would end the relationship with her and not feel bad about it. No one should be treated like that, ever. Especially since she is still with that man, and you have a daugher, keep those people far away.
  • I see what you are saying, but some people are addicted to junk food and it must be treated like a drug addict. You can't tell a drug addict to try a little if they want and have fun. I suppose it's hard for people who don't have the problem to even comprehend the feeling. It's not about being a glutton, it is a physical…
  • Same here. I have kids, so it is hard, and I do struggle. I will buy something for the kids and end up eating some and not being able to stop at "just one bite". So, I learn from my mistakes and know that I just can't have that crap in the house anymore. I buy them treats I don't like, or take them out for ice cream, so I…
  • I have adjusted mine down to 30% carbs/30% protein/40% fat. If you follow their recs and aren't losing weight just play around with it (eating more protein, less carbs, etc) until you see the results you want. 40% fat, or even more is fine, if it is from healthy fats and you are watching your total calories.
  • I just have a protein shake for breakfast then have an early lunch. Or you could just have dinner foods for breakfast. Eat leftovers from the day before or something. I used to eat cereal every morning, so the protein shake made with almond milk kinda gives me the same feeling as having had cereal. I can't eat eggs every…
  • Feel free to add me. I have been primal since April. I don't eat much dairy, just the occasional treat that usually makes me feel sick. But I just can't give up taking the kids for ice cream every once in a while in the summer.
  • I've noticed it in a lot of gluten free foods, which had me thinking there was something better about it than plain sugar. Then I did some research and found out the truth. I have no idea why it's all the rage all of a sudden. I bought some gluten free, sugar free cook books and its all recipes using agave. I try to stick…
  • Get a Jaccard Meat Tenderizer. Best purchase ever. I bought it for grassfed steak, but now I use it on every kind of meat. Everything comes out so tender. Amazon has a good price on them.
  • Born in the early 70's. Family dinners all together every night. All special events or holidays involve a big meal. Dessert after every meal, plus lots of snacks in the house. I mostly got fat due to being sedentary (my mom never exercised either) and then starting in high school depression/anxiety/emotional eating.
  • What is your typical no/low carb meal? I eat no grains and I am generally stuffed after a good meal. Eat tons of veggies and a big ole slab of meat.
  • I also am 5'7" and those numbers don't sound quite right. I would love to weight 160 right now. I definitely wouldn't go with that trainer, but I agree with lifting heavy. Don't be too discouraged. Meet with another trainer, or someone that can teach you the best weight training to be doing and keep going, you are doing…
  • My husband and I recently moved to a new city, away from family and are finally doing something about our weight. It's refreshing to live in a new place when losing the weight and not have to deal with the pressure and questions from everyone around you. When I lost weight before we lived near family and friends. On one…

  • I'd say if you are hungry, eat more. I gained all this weight I am currently losing AFTER I stopped breastfeeding. Breastfed my 2 kids a combined total of 5 yrs and lost the pregnancy weight no prob. Then packed it all on after they were done nursing. Enjoy the calorie burn as long as you can.
  • Hourglass/pear shape. Lost it in my waist and butt first. Arms and thighs are the slowest to lose from, grr.
  • Stop eating wheat
  • Breakfast/brunch once or twice a month, dinner once or twice a month. We eat at restaurants less now than we used to, plus we used to order pizza at least once or twice a week.
  • I agree. I think plain yogurt tastes like *kitten* unless you put a bunch of sweet stuff in it. I love the pineapple chobani, it's 17 g of sugar. I eat it as an occasional dessert.
  • Every day as soon as I wake up. I don't count when it goes up a little, I just track it when it goes down. But it lets me know if I need to eat lighter or get some more exercise.
  • Drinking. Trying to find other, lower calorie things to do. I am an aromatherapist, so I have my anti-stress blends I use when it gets too bad. A long walk or bike ride is good, but usually my stress is caused by being trapped at home with the kids and not able to get out alone.
  • I haven't, but it's on my list of things to do. I am waiting until my kids are older, don't need to leave any orphans behind. Actually, I am hoping they will want to do it with me. My brother in law does it all the time.
  • I just finished C25K and ran my first 5K. You can do it! C25K is nice because you don't go too fast and get too sore/shin splints/ whatever and end up quitting. I now use the Nike + GPS app and recommend it too.
  • About 22 lbs since April 1.
  • I have kids, but my sister and most of my friends don't. Some ended up having kids in their late 30s. Don't let people making you feel bad for your decision. I was married 5 yrs before we decided to have kids and I heard it a lot too. Just give them a vague "We'll see" when they ask about when you are having kids. It's…
  • Pictures from the last year is one thing that encouraged me to get started on this weight loss. I never felt "fat" until I saw the evidence in pictures. I haven't had any pics taken since I started losing weight. We are going on vacation next week, so I am sure I will be in some pics, I can't wait to compare. And I can't…
  • I started C25K in April and just ran my first official 5K yesterday. I did end up speed walking some, the second half was uphill and it was 90+ degrees. All but the fastest runners at least walked some I think. I am happy with my time. I don't enjoy running, but like someone else said, I feel really good afterwards. It…

  • I used to and sometimes am very tempted, but I now control myself. It especially sucks as restaurants, when you feel like you are wasting money on good food. It can be very frustrating when they leave half a nice big cinnamon roll. I just ask if they will eat it later and wrap it up and put it out of sight to save it, or I…
