Well done to everyone who has lost! I don't quite know where I stand with my weight at the moment since we moved back to England. My scale is still boxed up in Germany waiting for the movers and I just haven't bought a new one yet to bridge the gap. It's been a tough couple of weeks but I feel like I'm slowly making…

I like Bornofthorns post too, but AMEN to this!

An ex-boyfriend told me once that I was 'beautiful but would look so much better if I lost weight'. When I got upset, the asshat couldn't understand why. His defense was: wouldn't you rather hear it from me?! Some people are clueless.

Great advice. Exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you!

Last week: 246.2 Thursday: 244.6 Today: 247.0  Well done to everyone who lost their 2lbs (and DIDN'T put it back on like I did) Here's to next week.....

I lost my first 10lbs in 2-3lb spurts over 17 days. I am on an MFP recommended 1350 cals per day and doing low impact exercise a couple times per week (not always very good at sticking to that though) but happy with my loss so far!

Good for you! The reward system is an excellent idea. I thought about doing something similar but couldn't come up with a good but inexpensive idea. Yours are brilliant. And well done on your loss!

I didn't post last week although I lost my two pounds! This week I'm posting but haven't lost a thing. Gained 0.8lbs but I'm hoping it is water weight (hormonal). I have been lacking in enthusiasm and motivation a bit the last few days but well done to everyone who has made progress! And here's to next week's weigh-in!…

I think this Harvard doctor needs a slap. 'In moderation' is just that. I do think we tend to get a little carried away from time to time (that's how I ended up on MFP in the first place) but seriously, eat WHATEVER you want to. Just weigh/portion everything to make sure moderate doesn't become indulgent; and... on days…

I really enjoyed Before I Go To Sleep by S J Watson. Read it a while back but it's still the first one I think about when someone asks me for a recommendation :)

My weigh in - Last Tuesday: 253.0lbs Today: 249.4lbs  Hooray! Keep going, everyone!

I understand where you're coming from but I can't fully agree. It takes courage to believe you can change. Some people take longer than others to find this courage. I'm one of them.

Hi, feel free to add me.

I love this answer above ^^^ It's what I'm doing at the moment aswell. I've tried doing both together at other times but I always gave up on one or the other and then eventually both. Right now I intend to focus everything I have on controlling what I eat. As the weight starts coming off (hopefully!) I'm pretty sure I'll…

Oh man! I freak out about this happening to me, but thankfully it hasn't yet! I won't mock you, cos karma might be in a frivolous mood, and I also have cheap Q-tips...

Orig poster ^^^^ __________________________________________________________________________________________________ That made me cackle - with recognition! I'm 29, never been married and no children - yet. Been engaged now though for 6... no, 7 months with a lot more time ahead before the trip down the aisle. Before…

I have!

I don't know whether Visalus would tick all the boxes for you or not but it's worth checking out. Just google Visalus or Body by Vi for more info on it. There's a lot of research worthy stuff on youtube aswell. In another discussion here on fitness pal a member claims it actually helped her IBS - this is the link to that…

I agree with this ^^^ And personally, I also try to remember a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt - 'No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.' Mean things hurt. But we can choose to deal with it (like above) and then let them go. Don't keep hold of unnecessary negativity. You should feel proud of yourself for…

Hi Candace, I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but I will - you are brave. And I mean that in a totally genuine way. It takes courage to get through the kind of turmoil your life has dealt you; there are aspects of it (not just weight gain) that I can relate to and I know first-hand how hard it can be to bounce back…

You look amazing! I've scrolled back over your pictures a few times because they are unbelievable! You must be so proud of yourself! And so you should be! Well done!!! :)

Hi Ralet, I'm not exactly new to the site, but I'm new to the forums, etc and to this group. Feel free to add me. A little motivation goes a long way!

Hi, I'm new to forums and groups but this sounded like something I could actually accomplish. Here goes: Previous: 257.0 lbs  :noway: Today May 28th: 254.4 lbs Only 119lbs to go! :frown: I'm definitely in for the situps. Knowing I've made an interweb commitment to it might just kickstart me up off the sofa and get the…

I don't want to replace facebook but I do need to invest less time there and more time here on MFP! Not committed enough right now, and that needs to change! How does everyone get motivated?
