I understand your need to be hyper-vigilant about the numbers, I was like that as well. To be honest, I'm actually still weaning myself from that obsession. Like everyone has said, you have to spend some time using a trial and error method. I ended up taking the average of 3-4 numbers and started there. During the last…

Both my kids started running track at 6. My son even had a regional 8U record running the mile. He's now in high school and heading to the State Crosscountry Championships. At 8 they are just wired with energy so I'd let him run. He'll no doubt let you know when he's had enough or he'll simply out run you...ENJOY!!!

Thank you for sharing your truth. I do believe many of us are victims of the same "lose it instantly" syndrome. We are seduced by the constant barrage of images that make promises that feed into our insecurities. The multi-billion dollar diet industry is proof of that. I know I've also made questionable choices throughout…

Got really friendly with some bun and cheese this weekend so I had to forgo the fritters for now....Gotta limit the "treats" because too much of a good thing was what got me started on MFP in the first place. Stashed my saltfish in the freezer since its going to be a while before I get to use it...Planning on heading…

Night time is when I unwind after the chaos of my work day and making sure kids have gotten to practices, done homework..yadda yadda yadda. So I make sure I reserve calories to treat myself to something. It may be a glass of merlot, some nuts, a quest bar or quite simply a cup of tea (zero calories). Don't beat yourself up…

This is an amazing resource. I've been trolling the internet for weeks now trying to read as much as possible to shift gears mentally now that's I've gotten to my goal weight AGAIN!! Gone is the overwhelming anxiety this time around that every morsel would be my undoing and trigger a 150+ pound regain. I stressed myself…

I've never combined both coconut and flaxmeal so I have no clue how that combo would work. Use the coconut flour as you would regular flour and follow your traditional recipe. I would add a pinch of baking powder. As for the coconut taste. I don't particularly notice one but then again I love all things coconut. If you…

Grew up in Granville; went to Mt Alvernia for a while before moving to Toronto. Married and moved to Maryland nearly 20 years now. Expect to be in Mobay in a couple weeks for Spring break. Mi cyaan wait!!

Yeah I like the flat and crispy version myself if I'm using regular flour. However, particularly with flaxmeal, it could get tough so the baking powder will help out. I'm hoping to make some this weekend. I picked up some salt fish yesterday and it was not cheap. BTW, why is it that saltfish was considered poor people…

Baking powder will lighten the texture of the fritters regardless of the type of flour you use. The fritters will have more volume and it won't be as "crispy" as the more traditional one.

Ended the February challenge strong but its been a slow start for me this time around. None-the-less got 3.5 miles in today.

Start strength training now to build lean muscle as you lose fat. That will only health with your metabolism and also tone things up and hopefully limit any loose skin issues later. Have a trainer guide on how to set up an appropriate program.

Wa a gwaan everybody? Fabulous to find this group. Mobay in da house!

If I were you I would experiment with all three items you mentioned starting with flaxmeal as that will have the lease carb load. The flaxmeal will be a bit coarse almost like cornmeal. The coconut flour would have a smoother texture and taste more familiar. Make a small batch and don't forget to add baking powder to the…

New favorite is the recipe from Wheat Belly.

Glad your session went well. Since Nov. 2012 I've become addicted to weight training. I find the key is connecting with a trainer that understands your needs and who will listen to you yet effectively pushes you beyond these limits we placed on ourselves.

This is just brilliant. Every line struct home. Now more so than this one above. This is not my first weight loss rodeo. I've been the yo-yo diva...NO MORE!!! This time I'm working really hard to stay conscious of the fact that it not about the scale (even though I confess to that addiction). I'm trying to create and work…

Thanks for sharing. R.I.P. low fat. I find sticking to REAL, NATURAL foods, as close to its original form as possible, works best for me, everything else is just a marketing gimmick.
