Completed week 3 and was feeling on cloud 9 and was absolutely impressed with myself. But when I started week 4 my knee started hurting like crazy so I'm giving it a rest and having it checked by doc before I continue. Totally depressed with that. ....I can't wait to get back at it.....

November challenge is now official over and while I won't weigh in until Dec. 2, I know I've made positive gains. My clothes fit better and I feel good. I had to postpone my C25K running program after 3 weeks because my left knee started to really hurt. Tried running with a brace and that was awkward and the pain…

MissMorningDew you and I are on the same page with our goals.Minus a few hiccups my eating is fairly well under control. Although I must admit that I am already praying for strength on Thanksgiving day. I do know that I will be exercising that day. As for the rest of it....I've completed week two of C5K and love being able…

I plan my splurges. I strive to stay on target 6 days per week with the knowledge that I have the choice to splurge one day. In my mind I plan for the weekend for dinners out, parties and the like. Sometimes I indulge (and I try to make it a really good one that truly worth savoring) but often by the time the weekend comes…

I've rocked my natural hair since 1986...whew that's a long time. Loc'd when I got pregnant with my now 13 year old son. Lately my stylist and I have been experimenting with cutting it shorter and shorter and I LOVE IT!....Got tired of the whole locs to the butt experience. Now everything including running and swimming is…

I'm a product of the world...Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica; grew up in Toronto, Canada and now living for over 20 years in Glenarden, MD (just outside DC), with hubby and 2 kids.

Charlotte I was originally scheduled to run a 5K in September but I couldn't do it because I had stopped the training when my health issues cropped up. Now that I'm back at it again there are a few races between Thanksgiving Turkey Trots and New Years that I'm looking at. But it all depends on how my body responds. I am…

Day 1 of my Couch to 5K program is complete and I feel wonderfully tired. I thought about waiting until Monday to start but procrastination is a major vice of mine so I'm too pleased with myself for getting it done! Daughter has cheerleading competition this Sunday so our day begins at 7 a.m. tomorrow with her hair…

I need a challenge and I need a space to be accountable because right now I'm completely frustrated. Health issues stalled my progress this past summer. In fact I gained weight. Now that I'm back on "program" for 45+ day, I've been stuck at 183.5. My initial MFP goal was to get to 170 and be in the "healthy" BMI zone. But…

Sounds like a plan....15 would get me oh so close to my goal and I love a good challenge. Let's do this! I'd also like to start the New Year without having to resolve to LOSE weight AGAIN!! Fit and Fabulous baby!!

I go for spicy salsa or savory pates with my cottage cheese. Yum!!

Wegman's has a great selection.

I feel I should have a better handle on things since I've been doing this for what seems like a lifetime. None-the-less, here I am still trying to get it right one day at a time. I'm a 46 year old mother of two (son-13, daughter-10). I work from home with my husband (he'd say I work FOR him, clearly he's delusional).…

I really would love to do a 5K especially with a group but darn it if I'm not already booked for a mommy gig.

A year later and this information still provides some interesting insight into my ongoing struggles.....

Its people like you, and stories like yours, that have truly made MFP so invaluable to me. I got emotional just reading about your victories on so many levels today. It truly resonated with me. I applaud you on a job well done! Thank you so much for sharing!!

The spaghetti squash and cauliflower are in regular rotation in my house but a current favorite is Shirataki Noodles. It is made from tofu and comes in fettuccine, spaghetti and angel hair sizes. An 8 oz packages has two servings. Each serving is 20 calories, .5g fat, 3g carbs & 2g fiber. Be warned when you first open the…

If we are to make this a lifestyle change that we can stick with, some things we just have to figure out how best to deal with it without sabotaging ourselves. I have to have a late night sweet treat as well and on some nights a glass of merlot is absolutely required. I always reserve 150-300 calories for my PM Treats. I…

46 and living it fit and fabulous!

Just turned 46, mother of 12 & 9 year olds, with hubby nearly 20 years. Obese most of my life (331 highest weight) but now about 20 pounds from my UGW (165) and I'm in the best shape of my life. I know what has worked for my body but I'm also always researching/questioning/experimenting. The emotional work continues and…

I had a lot of misconceptions about pole dancing until i was invited by a girlfriend to a demo-party a couple years ago. I could strut around the pole like a diva but could not do a doggone thing else even if you paid me. While this girl was literally doing flips and swinging from the pole. It required a…

LMAO!!! I'd forgotten about that "little" lie!!!

"...focus more on self love." That is such loaded phrase. This is such an incredibly personal and emotional journey and if it was easy there wouldn't be a obesity epidemic. We are all at different stages of this journey and as social being we all need validation. You may get your validation from a compliment, the fit of…

This journey is about my choices. I can choose to lie and stay stuck or I can choose to open myself up and look honestly at my horrible relationship with food, make the changes necessary so I can live a truly healthy life. I do occasionally forget things and may not always make the best substitutions but lying is never my…

I'm slowly plodding along. More the tortoise than the hare. Just able to jog-really shuffle along for 3 miles (nearly 5k). Trying to work my way up to do a 5K soon. Need to improve stamina and speed. Also have a bit of concern about left knee-Ortho appt. scheduled.

Because it works best for me!

Thanks for this...Great information!

From everything I've read I think you both have the right idea. Add back more carbs and calories in small increments and monitor how your body responds.
