"Garden vegetable crustless quiche" from the CookingLight website. So delicious and it calls for loads of zucchini and squash.

Not really a recipe, but I just use flavored balsamic vinegars as salad dressing (vanilla, raspberry, espresso), bur regular balsamic vinegar works fine too. I don't typically mix it with oil because it's so good by itself, but you can mix with a little EVOO for a vinaigrette. Hardly any sodium in this at all- I think…

My lunch almost every single day. Tastes delicious and miss I it when I have to eat something else: 4oz protein (usually chicken) or 2 hard boiled eggs small salad with toasted pecans/craisins/raw veg AND/OR steamed broccoli/brussel sprouts. baby carrots with hummus black seedless grapes Maybe I need to mix things up a…

Hi fellow runners! I usually run in the mornings (5k) 3x per week and supplement with strength training/aerobics classes at the gym. I would love some new running buddies to encourage morning runs. It's getting HOT here in Texas so mornings are the only option for me. I've run multiple 5k race, and I want to train for a…

I agree with bound4beauty ^^^ Eat real food and not only will you will feel fuller but your cravings for junk food will decrease as well. You CAN do it!

great thoughts everyone! I like the salad and kabob ideas.

thanks for the reply! I am planning to take plenty of portable snacks like fruit and nuts, but I'm just lacking in actual meal ideas...

Hi, I am a Christian that celebrates Passover and I understand the conundrum of eating holiday foods vs staying on a diet plan. Personally, I think food is a way people connect, celebrate, and show love for one another. When you laboriously cook, then eat, and celebrate with friends and family, you are sharing in a special…

It has been great to watch your diary over the past couple of weeks. I truly believe in eat more to lose more and a whole foods approach! Way to go. You are living proof!

I made black bean and sweet potato enchiladas with homemade tomatillo sauce last night. Super good and filling. I get many recipes from vegetariantimes.com

Age: 26 5'3 CW: 135 GW: ? I'm happy now but felt the best at about 125-128. Been as low at 116, but that was horrible. Exercise: I run 3-4 days a week, Pump Class 1x per week and other group fitness classes 1-2x per week. I also walk frequently I eat between 1800-2100 calories a day to maintain. I eat clean 90% of the…

My diary is open if you want some meal ideas. I agree that frozen pre-packaged meals won't do you any good. You'll be hungry in a few hours and they don't really taste that great. It takes some prep work to make healthier meals, but I like to cook a big batch of something on a Sunday and eat it all week. Some of my…

I agree- a rest day does not mean you can't do ANY physical activity. I would go crazy! My "rest" days usually consist of a long walk or Frisbee at the park with my dog.

Focus on proper nutrition to fuel killer workouts. =) This may mean adding calories due to more vigorous workouts. Lift weights to tone and you may find you are happy with your current weight.

I've stopped taking vitamins and supplements completely. I try to get my nutrition I need through fruits and veg. Is there a particular nutrient you feel you are lacking?

I haven't bought a loaf a bread at the store in over a year. If you really want to get technical about the preservatives, you could find a source of fresh ground whole wheat. (Seriously, it's just not natural that store-bought flour should last on the shelf for so long). The taste of fresh ground flour is amazing. I make…

Yep- make things yourself. I bake my own bread, make my own yogurt, nut butters, etc... The only way to really know what is in something is to prepare it with your own hands. As for items like eggs and meat- that's a bit harder. I know people who occasionally provide me with beef and eggs, but often I buy them from the…

I actually find eating meatless much more convenient than having to think ahead and thaw/cook meat. Focus on the quality of your carbs (think whole grain/quinoa/carbs from veg like sweet potatoes) and you'll actually get in some protein too. My go-to protein sources are tempeh, eggs, greek yogurt and nuts. Avoid…

Stocks are very low calorie even from the store. But, when you make it yourself you get all the good without all the sodium, preservatives, etc... I would speculate the calorie count would be about the same as store bought, but the sodium would be much lower, if you added very little salt. My suggestion is to use the…

Yep, that looks about right. Really puts food choices into perspective.

I eat tempeh almost every day. It's a soy based plant protein with 13g protein per serving! I crumble it with spices to make tempeh tacos or just stir-fry with some broccoli.

I log everyday, my diary is open. I try to eat whole, healthy, homemade foods. Feel free to add me. Good for you for taking control of your health! =)

baked oatmeal with blueberries and bananas- I eat it every week! I also really like the pork tenderloin with spinach and sundried tomatoes. So many good recipes on that website!

I am fasting from meat and sweets during Lent this year. I have done so in the past as well. This year, I am also giving up processed foods. Yes, I know this definition is broad, but for me that means nothing from a box, only homemade (like bread) and grains. I'm sure it will be trial and error, but I'm really looking to…

I eat an apple every single day. Sometimes a banana too. Oh, and berries at breakfast many times. Then at lunch there's the tomato and avocado. Haha. As you can tell, I don't have a problem with the natural sugars. =)
-
I don't plan rest days, but I just listen to my body about when to take one- usually every 7-10 days or so. My rest days almost always include at least a long, leisurely walk, 3-4 miles or so.

<<<<<<My profile pic is me at 135. I'm 5'3. I tried for years to get below 120- until about 6 months ago when I saw the light and am finally starting to focus on body composition and clean eating rather than the scale.

I think you will get various answers to this question, but I am of the opinion that the quality of the calories really does matter not just in weight loss but for overall health and fitness. It is easily possible to eat your entire caloric goal sticktly on junk food and take out. I ate this way for much of my upbringing…
