  • Welcome to MFP & Good luck!
  • LOL that must have been so frustrating CALake. I know I'm a little late on this challenge but I did it this morning. I was being kind of a wimp at first and I haven't done a breathing set in 4 years, seriously. I just kind of forgot about them when I got back into swimming last year. So I did: 2x50 7 breaths 2x50 6 breaths…
  • Carol of the Bells is my favorite but I really love all Christmas music...and all things Christmas!
  • I did the pushups and maintained with doing the 100 pushups for a few weeks then stopped...now I would have to start all over. I can only do about 23 now. So I would advise continuing to do the 200 sit-ups 3-4 times per week to maintain that fitness level. Or make up your own challenge to get to 300 if you are really…
  • -My family and the sacrifices they make for me to live healthy. My husband doesn't always get the hearty meals he wants because I need to cook lower calorie dinners for myself. My daughter stays at daycare longer most days than she has to because I am running or biking. Not to mention finances... -My MFP friends. I really…
  • I use the Gu Gels and I love them. I use them running & cycling. As long as I can follow it with a big drink of water, it really helps. I wouldn't say they give me a boost but they keep me from bonking, but that's just based on timing of when I eat them.
  • I'm thankful for so much...on MFP, I'll mention my gratefulness for all of my MFP friends and for MFP itself. I have so much more self confidence and I am so much healthier than I would have ever been without MFP. The support I have received here has been great and has really helped me reach my goals!
  • Welcome to all of the new members! obfischer-I know I said it on your thread, but you are AWESOME! CONGRATS!:flowerforyou: So Thanksgiving yesterday, I started with a Turkey Day 10K. It was cold. It was windy. It was early. It was Thanksgiving for crying out loud. It was a fun run so it didn't have bibs or anything & the…
  • Asics are popular and not unreasonably overpriced. Go to a running store & let them fit you for a pair. My running store will watch the way I run, look at my old running shoes for the wear & tear, and measure my foot then give me 3 or so different pairs to try out.
  • I just bought some fitted running tights at JCPenney and another pair at D i c k's today. I only have one pair of Adidas running tights so far but I love them. The pair I bought at D i c k's was Reebok. They are all the "play dry" or "cold compression" (depends on the brand, but the moisture wicking fabric) and they are…
  • I would try out different times over the next few weeks. What is more of your schedule/situation and more people can suggest things? If there is any way you can reward yourself for waking up early, that's always good too. Maybe buying a really high end coffee that you can drink if you get up early, or maybe there is a…
  • I ended up getting the Garmin 310XT & bike mount from REI, tax included and shipping was free, for $304.99. Also there is a $50 rebate for the 310XT from Garmin so when I get that in, it will only cost $254.99 total...Merry Christmas to me! Great deal if any of you are looking to upgrade!
  • Yep! Have that pinned on pinterest, haha
  • Given the $50 rebate, I went with the 310XT otherwise it would have been the 305. Thanks for the heads up on that rebate! I ordered the Garmin 310XT with HRM and the bike mount w/ tax and free shipping from REI for $304.99 last night. When I get it, I'll send in the $50 rebate so it will be just $254.00! Thanks for all of…
  • Good ones! Here are some more I've seen on other threads or used myself in past years: -Let yourself indulge in things you can't get the rest of the year (pumpkin pie, stuffing), but say NO to foods you can easily get the rest of the year (those 100 calorie a piece rolls and 100 calorie cookies add up!) -Be proud of your…
  • Just a quick encouragement to all of you to do your best on Thanksgiving! Go for a run or workout early in the morning, fill up on those delicious vegetables! One other tip I saw on another thread is to let yourself indulge in foods you can't get the rest of the year (pumpkin pie, stuffing), but say NO to foods you could…
  • I did randomabs, finally! And I really did like it. It was just what I needed, not the same mundane thing everyday. A few intense moves that don't take forever and really do something for my ab muscles. So what are your plans for Thanksgiving? I'm doing a Turkey Day 10K in the morning then having to cook Thanksgiving food…
  • I know the 305 isn't waterproof, hence leaving it on the bike ready to go during T1...if money was not an issue, I'd be getting the 910XT but money is an issue so I'm really leaning towards the 305 if I can make do with it. Also, I won't be doing longer than an Olympic distance tri with this, so the battery life isn't a…
  • Some people see it as a "chore" to have to do that stuff. I can pretty much mentally add up my calories and tell you my calories eaten, burned, and remaining at any given point during the day after doing it consistently for 11 months now. It's not a chore, it's my lifestyle. It takes a few minutes and I just have to note…
  • I had moved from losing 1 lb per week with 1510 calories to losing 1/2 lb per week on 1640 calories. That got my metabolism adjusted and I reached my GW. I'm 5'5" and 135 now. This site has maintenance at 1880 for me but most other sites I checked were at least 1950 calories for maintenance. I went from 1640 to 1700 for a…
  • I can't workout or eat less Hershey's kisses for the sake of looking good in a bikini, especially in winter when bikini season is months away. I had to set the goal of running a 5K, then keep making time goals. It got to where I could make myself put something down because I knew I would have an upset stomach when I ran…
  • Those are some great articles, thanks! I REALLY REALLY REALLY need to be on the bike, but I've been procrastinating because I'm hoping to get a new bike in December. That is NO reason to skip riding my old bike now, but I've allowed myself to use it as one. My goal for the winter is to build up on the bike & run...I'm…
  • So thrown off by this week's schedule. Not a fan of middle of the week Holidays, haha. I am doing my 2nd 10K on Thanksgiving morning. I really need to bike this week too before it gets really cold here next week, but Wednesday I can't workout due to working then traveling to family. Grrrr. I did a 6.5 mile run this morning…
  • LOL. I feel that way running & biking.
  • Wow, irony! I had to retie my shoes on a 6.5 mile run today and thought "I really don't want to waste an entire minute of a half just tying my shoes! There has got to be a better way!" THANK YOU! I'll have to check these out!
  • Yes, celtic, I agree. Just listen to your body. Make the exercise intense but not to the point of non-normal-muscle-soreness. So hoosiermomma & I have posted some recipes, what are some healthy versions of Thanksgiving type foods you guys are cooking this week? My grandpa is still in the hospital and while we thought he…
  • To date: Swim: 1 Mi Bike: 14 Mi Run: 27 Mi Made it on the run with today's 6.5 mi run. Plan for the week includes biking Tuesday & Friday but nowhere near enough to get to the Ironman miles!
  • I take the shortcut of still going to grandma's house for Thanksgiving :embarassed: Although this year it looks like my grandpa may be in the hospital for Thanksgiving so we would have dinner at my mom's house, meaning I have to help cook. :grumble: In which case, I'll be taking as many shortcuts as possible short of just…
  • welcome to skywa! celticmuse--With 30 Day Shred, it is recommended to do it every day. I think that would be super intense and very hard, but could give you the boost you need to lose the last 4 lbs if you stick with it! Or maybe you could commit to 6/7 days per week so you have one day of rest. I will say this, the second…
