  • I've got my first half marathon coming up in March--New Orleans Rock & Roll Half. I'm still putting together the rest of my schedule but I'm thinking Joplin Memorial Half Marathon in May will be the next "big one".
  • My wedding cost $3000 total, which was still a huge number for me to swallow, but according to a wedding planner friend, it looked like a $15000 wedding. --I got my dress at the David's Bridal $99 dress sale and it was perfect for me. It was simple but elegant, which is what I wanted. --I used the Michael's coupons in the…
  • 4 miles today so total of 25.7 for the week. Goal for the month is 75, so I'm doing pretty good!
  • dmeyne--That sucks about your bike! Hope you have more good weather soon to make up for that ride! I'm up to 22.5 miles for the year on the bike. Got a flat on mile 6 out a 10 mile ride today, and since this is only my 3rd ride on my new bike, I haven't had time to get the repair kit for it so I had to ride the last 4…
  • I'm at 48.2 miles through today.
  • Through 1/8 Goals for January: Swim: 2.4 miles Bike: 56 miles (Half IM distance...I know the wind chill will keep me from getting out a lot) Run: 75 miles (81 miles on my training plan but realistically know I'll get sick and miss a run or two) Totals: Swim: 0 miles Bike: 22.5 miles Run: 25.7 miles Pool is still closed…
  • I think it comes more natural to say "move on and go back to normal healthy days" if that has truly become your lifestyle. Which means your entire mindset, your grocery list, your weekly schedule, your family budget, etc. is all geared towards a healthy lifestyle. Your metabolism can rebound easily and while you might not…
  • Psh. I have a late snack, brush my teeth, and go to sleep. I reached my GW doing that every single day. Calories in, calories out. You'll be fine.
  • 7 miles this afternoon so total of 21.7 for the week.

  • This!!! & Please don't be a homewrecker. You can't blame him for hurting you & him doing this to you after the first time, it's on you. Nothing positive will be accomplished with telling her. OMG I could go on for days about how ridiculous this is, but I'm going to stop: don't tell her. Leave it alone. It IS that easy.
  • That's hilarious! And mikey: I'm glad someone else designs houses on their runs as well :)
  • I run a lot and my 4 year old did her first race in November. Find some family fun run/walks in your area & sign your family up. My daughter's race (which I did with her) was a 1K, so very doable for young kids. (It took us right at 10:00 to finish the race together). You guys could then "train" together by walking or…
  • I hit several plateau's on my way to my GW. Some things that worked for me: 1. Eat maintenance for a week, then drop back to losing 1 lb per week calories. 2. Have a recovery week for your workouts. Build for 3 weeks, recover for 1 week with your running distances (just a general rule of thumb anyways) 3. Watch your…
  • Bump. Those look delicious!
  • I just realized I never responded with what I ended up with: 2012 Jamis Ventura Comp road bike. I LOVE it. Thanks for all of the advice, it really made me more confident about choosing road bike over tri bike. I've only had 1 ride on it so far (its so cold...cant stand the wind chill!) but it's my pride & joy

  • Yeah, I once literally thought during the last mile of a long run "I am so glad nobody can know what I've thought about during this run...they'd think I had lost my mind." I also tend to design stuff in my head while running....like my dream house, new shoes, landscapes for neighborhoods that are drab, etc.
  • I'm listening to various Pandora workout stations today at work to try to find some new songs...the only new one I've found so far is "The Anthem" by Pitbull
  • They are very intense! I liked them for the calorie burn, but as a triathlete, I decided not to incorporate them regularly into my training routine. Regular strength training and my swim/bike/run for cardio will work better for my fitness goals.
  • Thanks for the info! We are only going to be there 4 days, so I don't have much time to acclimate without missing the fun. I'll be sure to drink a lot of water.
  • Thank you all for your help! I'm nervous that I'll get injured, as CassLister did, and mess up my whole half marathon training. I'm not sure how much normal walking I'll be doing in the ski boots. Our condo is "ski in, ski out" but I won't know until we get there how much walking it will be in the boots. My husband is an…

  • I run 3 times per week, so it's not a monontous, everyday task I have to complete. I also only have 1 long run per week, so I only have 1 day per week where I have to focus on running long. I have 1 run of speed work with a 10 minute warm up, then speed work, then 10 minute cool down jog. That breaks it up because during…
  • I did One Hour Runner Program and LOVED IT! I think it depends on if you are planning to run/walk or straight run your 10K and how you handle training mentally. For me, walking while training would lead to me walking during the race just mentally. One Hour Runner just builds from your 30 minute base adding 1-3 minutes to…
