I certainly agree with that. I just don't like the notion that all obese people are created equal. The stereotype that we all sit on our couches and eat 24/7 for the fun of it is one that just. pushes. my. buttons. People come from different circumstances. <-- not directing this to you, but to anyone who perpetuates that…

There are choices we have all made to get ourselves to where we are, but we don't get a say in the obstacles we face and just how difficult they are to overcome. I would never, ever in a million years choose to have my physical and mental problems and I have worked every day of my life, for as far back as I can remember,…

Wow. Just...wow. This post literally brought tears to my eyes. If anyone thinks for one second that all (or even MOST) obese people chose this condition, please think again. I grew up with body dysmorphic disorder and began dieting as a young girl of a normal size. I dieted my way to over 300 pounds. The more perfect I…

Thank you so much for taking the time to document that!

My Mom used to always say to me, "Eat to live. Don't live to eat." For the first time in...EVER?...That is how I look at food. When I go to eat, I consider what my body actually needs. The funny thing is that I'm enjoying food more now than I ever did before. Food commercials used to trigger every craving in me and I would…

Xandralexa: I'd not heard of that site. Thanks! I've added it to my list. They've got some fantastic-looking recipes, especially the Italian section. Note to self: Do not look at these while hungry. Vietnamese-Style Chilled Maine Shrimp with Cabbage & Peanuts?!! Ohhh...

Awww TooFine4MFP and Skinnyhopes...I am sending positive thoughts in your direction, as well as anyone else who suffers with constant thoughts of food. As serious and disheartening as this subject is, I have to try to put a positive spin on it. It's one of those "if I don't laugh, I'll cry" things. We are here. We're in…

Haha my ex was like that - No matter what he ate he was actually somewhat underweight. He'd go to the grocery store and get Doritos and ice cream and just eat it like it was nothing. I would try so hard to lose weight and would gain while he LOST weight eating the foods I made plus his snacks and fast food. I'm right with…

Oh thank you! I am not alone! lee3978: I also like to eat in private when I can and hate it when food does not meet my expectations or when someone interrupts my meals. My meals are small and, although they are more frequent now than ever before, I want to enjoy each delicate little morsel. I actually have bookmarked "food…

Ha! :) I weigh myself just to be sure things are relatively "in check" but I expect at least a 3-5 pound gain from water retention and I don't beat myself up or change anything because of the numbers I see during that week.

I could have written that! I can completely identify. It's so odd and, sometimes, very frustrating. :P There are weeks in which I go to the grocery store 4 or 5 times because everything I'd thought I'd wanted doesn't seem appealing at ALL anymore.
