The thing that has really helped me stay on track with my exercise is that I have set a goal to complete at least 2 short-course triathlons this summer. I'm in Western Australia, so the Triathlon season runs from October to May. My deadline for the first one is is the 2XU Women's Tri on 6 March. I'd like to get one in…

Bananas are very good for you. They're packed full of antioxidants, vitamins (particularly B6), fibre and are low GI. Have a look at this website for more info: http://www.australianbananas.com.au/nutrition

Hello from across The Ditch :drinker: You'll find a heap of support here. One friend request coming your way

I know what you mean! I was shocked when I started logging my food. Welcome to MFP and good luck with your weight loss too. You'll find a ton of support here

I've been using my F4 at the gym with the machines twice a week for at least 20 months. The equipment picks up my HR from the strap too even though the equipment is not "polar compatible" and I have not any any issues with it damaging the watch. It is a very useful side effect, though I do find the machine is often reading…

I used to try not to eat them but after really examining my nett calorie intake over the week and how I feel generally I noticed that if my nett calories drop more than 500 cals below my target calories over the course of the week (adding up the deficit day to day) I start to feel really off and not myself. I started…

Maybe you could invite her along for some of your walks (if you aren't already).

Hello and welcome! You'll find lots of support here and yes, 16lbs since July is good. Keep up the good work! My sister was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia a few years back so I have some idea of what that means for you. Are you able to exercise much? My sister has to be very careful not to overdo it with the exercise or it…

Definitely ask to have a second test done. Every once in a while any blood test can return a false positive. This may be the case with your result.

I don't think there would be any harm in doing an additional interval or two (or three), but I would only go for as long as you feel comfortable. If you don't think you could do the whole workout again, just stop when you feel you've done enough. I'm doing a 5K training program through Adidas micoach. The last two runs…

Welcome to MFP and good luck with your fitness goals. You'll definitely find lots of support here.

Hi Jayjay. Sounds like you slipped into the usual minesite life  I'm an enviro consultant for mining (based in Perth) so I know how easy it is to not exercise and eat way to much at dinner while on site. Good luck with your goals. I did some boxing a while ago with my PT and really enjoyed it. Feel free to add me as…

I have the Polar F4 as well and really like it. I've never had a problem with it. I have seen it on Amazon for $71 (and also $199) but I think it is being replaced by the FT4 which is somewhere between $75 and $100. Any Polar HRMs are good but some of the really cheap ones don't do calories burnt.

Another vote for lean and chiselled :smooched:

That sounds like the right kind of store.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. I get migraines very occasionally, maybe one every 6 - 12 months. When I do get them its the "hide in a dark room with a cold compress to the head and try not to throw up" type. Just a thought for you, a friend's wife get migraines quite regularly and has discovered it's due to a lack of…

I must have missed that one :blushing: That's what I get for living on the other side of the world

In the open, in her living room.

I have done but have been slack for a while. My poor juicer is sitting there looking rather forlorn at the moment. One of my favourites is carrot, apple, beetroot and ginger. Just be careful with the beetroot as some people react quite strongly to it (stomach cramps and the like). Also be careful of using too many leafy…

I'd recommend going to a specialist running store, not your average chain shoe store. If you can, try to find one where they analyse your gait and running style. When you go, let them know you are having issues with shin splints. On the subject of shin splints, try to do as much running on grass or sand as you can, at…

Hello and welcome to MFP  I have similar goals to you (attempting to lose 8 - 10kg by the beginning of December) and just thought I'd let you know that it's been fairly slow progress for me over the last 3 weeks. I've been losing about 0.2 - 0.4kg a week, whereas I lost about 2kg in the first week I decided to get…

I use the Polar F4. Its slightly cheaper than the F6 ($71 on Amazon). I believe it's being replaced by the FT4 ($73 - $100 on Amazon).

Definitely #3. Though lack of motivation does then translate into #2, not making time to exercise.
-
Agree. I make sure to weigh myself on the same day of the week just after getting out of bed and going to the bathroom.

Where in China will you be? I was in Beijing for 3 weeks in Feb 2008 and loved it. I did a lot of walking. It was easier than trying to communicate with my limited Mandarin most of the time. The subway was fairly easy to use though. Besides that, the palaces, temples, parks and so on are so big there that most of them take…

Hi Tasha. Welcome to MFP. I think 140lb is a good goal for your height. I'm 5'3 and aiming to get to 132lb. I'm at 143lb right now but definitely have more belly fat to lose. You can always re-evaluate when you get to that goal anyway
-
There's a calculator under the "Tools" tab.
-
Maybe you need to recalculate your goals? I think MFP recommends doing that every time you lose 20lb or so.

Hi there. Out of curiosity I set up an account on Daily Burn (which I'll probably delete). I'm sure I selected the lose weight option but somehow or rather it decided I wanted to gain weight and set my calorie goal above my BMR. I went in and changed my goals and it now has about the same calorie goal as MFP (1200 for MFP…
