  • It's most likely the age of yours. The majority of the Polar HR monitors now come with a chest strap which sends a coded signal to the watch to avoid this.
  • I have a Polar F4. Its similar to the F6 though has a few less features. It does record calories burnt, avg HR and max HR for the session and gives a readout of HR during the session. You can also set target HR limits (upper and lower). I got it as a gift but think it was around AUD$150 18 months ago. I'd recommend…
  • If you've only recently started with resistance and strength training exercises it may be that you're building muscle while losing body fat. In this case it is quite possible that the scales will say you're not losing weight (or maybe even gaining) but your physical appearance will change. Remember, muscle weighs more than…
  • Also think about working your abdominals and core. This will make sure your pelvis is aligned correctly and that you aren't rolling your hips backwards, which would make your bum look bigger than it is (and your tummy too).

It has an iPhone app which records your route and you can then upload it to the web (you have the choice to make the route public or private too). It's also a lot easier to find routes others have put up and made public than geodistance seems to be.
  • Awwww, you just bought tears to *my* eyes! What a lovely and uplifting story. Congratulations.
  • I hear you. I find it hard to stay motivated sometimes too. A couple of pieces of advice (if you don't mind): 1) Don't let your initial enthusiasm make you try to do too much too soon. If you aren't used to working out 5 or even 7 days a week start slow. Increase your level of activity by an extra 1 or 2 sessions in the…
  • I'm currently doing a lot of intense ball exercises with my personal trainer and I wear a heart rate monitor which also calculates how many calories I burn. In a 30 minute session I burn around the 450 calorie mark (and sweat a heap!). Some weeks a bit more and some a bit less depending on how many breaks I have.
  • I'm in Perth too and have added you all as friends
