  • Hi everyone, My name is Velma. I'm 27 and have been a juicy apple all my life, lol. I started this thing in May 2011 at 289.9 lbs. Today I weigh 255.6. I was around 240, then life showed up and showed out. I was a VERY TIGHT 24W when I started, and am now a comfy 18/20W. I want to lose more weight and will do my best.
  • Depends on what you're eating. Try reduced sodium versions of food, and don't add salt to your food. Try using Mrs. Dash and other spices/seasonings to replace salt. If you need to add some, use cracked sea salt sparingly.
  • I am SO glad I stumbled onto this forum. IT IS HOT AS YOU-KNOW-WHAT here in Central Arkansas. Thanks to y'all for the suggestions! :)
  • Hey there and welcome! I, too, am a southern woman. I have 105 lbs to lose, and I've been doing this since May. I still eat red meat, just not a lot of it. I've found my taste for it has changed. I mainly eat chicken and fish. If I do eat red, I try to keep it as lean as I can afford (price wise and fat wise). I believe…
  • Hi Finkerton! Welcome to MFP. What is working for me (seeing how I have 110 lbs left) is to think of it like this: every time I drop 10 lbs, I'm that much closer. 10 lbs isn't very difficult to lose, and seeing bones in my body that I've NEVER seen is awesome. It, along with feeling good and looking better pushes me…
  • I normally get in the bed around 1:30 a.m.-2:30 a.m., so I don't eat anything after 12:30 a.m. However, I'm normally not asleep (insomnia and pain). I read until I fall asleep, then I wake up and start a new day. I have to agree with everyone that says it doesn't matter what time unless you've some health condition like…
  • Honestly, I wasn't aware I would be able to eat more when I walk. I mean, it seems like a "duh" moment since I've been doing this for a month, but at the beginning it was like WHAT? Eat MORE? If I'm not hungry after exercising, I'm not going to eat. It kinda makes me feel like I'm cheating by associating exercise with more…
  • This is what I do. I keep my scale in the cabinet with the plates and bowls right above the counter by the sink, so I have NO EXCUSE not to grab it.
  • Or eat a few of the minis from those bags and give them to someone else or hide them so that you cannot see them. Lately I've been eating the Hershey's Special Dark pieces. Half of a serving is only 90 calories (for 25 pieces), and it's so satisfying.
  • I've recently discovered DARK CHOCOLATE. I wish I would've ate it years ago...it's SO DELICIOUS. I'm not really big on sweet things, and it's just the right thing. Some of the time I give into my cravings, BUT I don't overdo it. If I'm giving in, then that means I have to cut out something OR exercise more. Either which…
  • Boneless grilled (or griddle) pork loin center cut with steamed veggies. Use a small amount of olive oil to keep the chops moist and tender. I recently had this meal. Had I not had the mac and cheese, it would've been under 500. Check my diary for some other foods that you may like and can mix and match.
  • Hey Steph, I looked it up, but the descriptions I read I don't think matched it very well, or does it? It basically seems like you can look into a mirror and practice punches and other moves. Is that right?
  • Hello everyone: Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone, and for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I cannot swim, so that's out of the question. I've tried to learn, but I almost drowned and on top of that, I accidentally flashed everyone (another story for another thread, LOL). I've tried all of the drugs, including the…
  • It could be the stress of going back home for a little while that brought up something. Do you keep a diary/journal or some other way of chronicling your feelings? Do you normally consume a lot of artificial sweetener? I know I do (and I'm trying my best to limit it to one diet soda or glass of tea). When I do, I tend to…
  • White Co. here. Thank you very much. :)
