I think it all depends on your body and baby. My hip measurement has gone down, but I also had some weight that I could afford losing. My measurements have all stayed the same or gone down by a few cms since I've been pregnant, by eating lots of healthy food and getting to the gym when I can to lift weights/do the…

Thanks! Who knew that to lose weight, all I needed to do was get knocked up. ;)

35 weeks, up 11 pounds. Took measurements at the gym last night, and even more impressive are that my butt and thigh are each down 2 cms. The only part getting bigger is my ever expanding mid-section.

I've kept active and eating healthy; I'm sure this is a big part of it. The bigger part is that my BMI was above average to begin with, so I don't need to gain as much as others do (13-18 lbs is plenty for me). I definitely look/feel better now than I did pre-baby, which is a little mind blowing. Ha.

Love! This is so true. Also, CONGRATULATIONS on your baby boy! Eeeee!

Had doc's appt this morning. 32+1 and 10 lb gain so far. I've been slacking on the working out/eating less healthy than usual... probably since I've really started to feel pregnant in the last week or two (oh the awkwardness!).

I love this! A co-worker has a little girl and we had those cheapo princess/superhero rings on some cupcakes someone brought to a potluck one day. Someone asked him if he wanted to take their princess ring to his daughter, Violet. He replied, "Well, she's not much into princesses, but if no one minds me taking the Iron Man…

THIS! My belly is way too big for my normal clothes. My old pants cut me funny and my shirts are way too short (I still wear things like this around the house or when gardening and my hubby makes fun of my redneck belly poking out the bottom of my t-shirts). Cheap summer dresses are AMAZING. I wear them to work and on…

THANKS!

I'm looking for thoughts on baby hats, especially with baby coming in July. Are they really necessary?

I kind of love this thread. The reaction I get when I tell people we're not finding out is usually pretty positive, more along the lines of "Oh how wonderful to have it be a surprise -- I love that!" Like others here, my hubby and I just want a healthy baby. Gender doesn't matter. There are cool parts about having a boy…

LOVE this thread. Thanks ladies for sharing all of your awesome pictures. I've been lifting heavy for a little while now, and it's crazy how much faster my body has changed than when I was doing cardio/weight machines. It makes me feel super badass, especially now that I'm doing squats and deads among the dudes with my…

29 weeks and up 7.5 lbs. I can feel the desire for healthy eating and the gym waning though... so I'm sure things will skyrocket over the last quarter of this pregnancy...

My sister's an OB nurse. She said the tea doesn't bring on labour, it just makes contractions more efficient. She gave birth on Monday morning. Her water broke around 2 a.m., and baby came at 7 a.m. She said she started drinking it at 26 weeks. She was 41 + 2 days when she delivered. I'm at 29 weeks now, and I need to get…

^THIS^ I worked out for more than a year using the machines, before I started seeing a trainer (I've kept it up because I love her). The progress I saw in a couple months using free weights far exceeded what I had done using the machines. It also helps balance your muscles and ensure you're not relying on a dominant side.…

YES! Absolutely this. I lift heavy things too. The amount of comments from people about "oh, be careful... should you really be doing that?" are crazy. Yes, of course I'm careful; I love this little parasite, and I wouldn't do anything to harm it. I'm 29 weeks along, have the full support of my doctor for everything I do,…

I'm up 7 lbs, and tomorrow is 28 weeks!

Everyone looks different at every point of pregnancy. The only way to tell how far along you are is the ultrasound. ER doc could give you a decent guess, but you can do that yourself by counting back to last period/ovulation. For example: My sister was due on Saturday (no baby yet) and I'm due in July, and I look waaaay…

@Vegas I'm so excited for you to take up boxing. If I wasn't knocked up, I'd have started a little while ago. I can't wait to get into it someday!

^this^ sounds like how I do it too!

I bring my butt down pretty far (at least parallel) for deads. Grab the bar by my shins and really use my legs to push through my heels and into the floor to throw my body up. Squeeze your butt as you straighten out to engage the core/hips. Maybe ask someone at the gym to check your form if you're worried about it -- last…

Good for you for keeping with your swim workout! You're an inspiration, for sure. You look fantastic.

Well done! I'm at 27 weeks, and I've gained about 7 lbs so far. Working hard as well to keep weight gain to the necessary amount (I was overweight to begin with). Been going to the gym consistently still; pretty much everything is the same except for belly and boobs (my arms are smaller, but I've been working on them).

I use the regular Olympic bar. It's just easier for me to be consistent with, especially since the 45lbs is no problem for me to lift. I can see maybe using the lady bar if 45 was too heavy for OHP in the beginning or something. Generally, I have a problem with any weight equipment dividied into men's or women's....

Thanks for sharing! I do "power clean lite" too. Love it! They are so much fun, and make me feel so powerful.

<--- I posted a picture from dead lifts last night. 185 lbs for reps! 27 weeks preggers this week. Feeling pretty BAMF.
-
Don't let this make you feel bad about yourself! Every person is different and we're all starting out at different places. As long as you and your doctor are happy with how things are progressing, enjoy this time! You and the baby don't need the stress otherwise. <3

I love this. Thank you for this reminder and perspective.

I'm 26 weeks today, and up 5 lbs. I had been working out and logging pretty consistently for two years, and my weight hadn't changed all that much (other than the initial drop). My body composition however had changed a LOT, especially since starting heavy lifting. Turns out the wine was probably to blame for the lack of…

I'm 28, and today is 26 weeks. So far, I've gained 5lbs, and this is my first pregnancy. I typically eat somewhere between 1700-2000 cals/day now. I lift at least 2 days/week (often 3), and try to do some cardio/get a good long walk in for another 2 days/week. Edited to add: I'm 5'4", and I started at 194-195 lbs.
