Natural ginger: red hair, green eyes, freckles galore. SPF 60 is my best friend. Typical cancer and fiercely passionate, defensive of those I love, fiery.

I've only started doing StrongLifts recently, so I can't comment on this program specifically. However, prior to this I had been doing Olympic lifts with a trainer twice a week. Two other days, I'd do about a half hour of some sort of cardio, but aiming to keep my heart rate lower since I'm pregnant... so it wasn't very…

YES! I find the Olympic bar is waaay easier to throw around than the curl bars (can get better form etc.). Even doing something like cleans, I can lift more using the oly than the short bars. Highly recommend doing things this way.

Hey ladies, I've been lifting for a while, but just started StrongLifts this week. I upped some of the weights since lifting just the bar was way, way too easy (my 1RM for DL was 225). Even though things are lighter, I know they'll progress rapidly and I'm really focusing on my form. My squats are much lower than they've…

Thanks Tameko. Yeah, I haven't been doing anything that I haven't done before, and the weights for Strong Lifts are much lower than I have been lifting at...

I drink this one every morning... so easy to make and drink while I get ready for work! 2 cups of baby spinach 1/2 banana 4 fairly large frozen strawberries (I grab them out of a bag bought at Costco) 1 tbsp flax seeds 1 cup unsweetened almond milk With the strawberry and banana, you can't taste the spinach at all -- but…

I think part of why the smaller dinner/larger lunch thing works is because you expend a lot more calories during the day when you're active -- generally people are less active after dinner. Therefore, you take in the calories when you need the energy, and you take in less calories before you sit on the couch for the…

Also, map out a market/grocery store close to your hotel, so you don't need to pack so many things, you can pick up some snacks there.

When I travel, I try to go places to eat where I can't go when I'm at home (so that counts out MacDonalds). I tend to bring healthy snacks to keep me going during the day as we keep busy doing things (apples, almonds, or yogurt for breakfast if you have a mini fridge/bar fridge to keep some small things in). Snacks during…

BMI is not accurate. Like you say, it doesn't account for body type. My BMI wants me to be 120-ish, but a trainer at my gym did the test which shows how many calories your body naturally burns when it's at rest and how much body fat you have, and really, I should be aiming for more like 150.

Hooray! Congrats.

Hi Amy! If you have a phone where you can download the app, I recommend it. It's so easy to keep track of workouts/what you eat as you go - it definitely makes it easier to stay on track.

I definitely understand what you're going through. I was a full time grad student and worked full time, too. It's hard to find time to do either let alone make sure you're eating right or getting some exercise. Good for you for deciding you can do it on your own! We're here for you if you need support!

I just smile sweetly and say "maybe later," and later never comes.

If you have less body, you need less calories to fuel it.

It's important to make sure you're getting the vitamins and minerals you need to fuel your body. I know I've had some days where I've eaten tons of vegetables and filled up on healthy foods so I didn't get quite to my calorie goal, but the difference between your goal and what you've eaten today is pretty drastic. If you…

Welcome! I'm new too. I'm looking forward to sharing your journey.

Congrats! Way to go!
