  • My theory on WW: They want you to be successful, because that is what they advertise. But they want you to do it REAL SLOWLY so you can keep paying their weekly fees, keep buying their food and stuff. That's where the money is, and, as a business, that is their bottom line.
  • My doctor wanted me to join WW at the beginning of the year. I told him I can gain weight all by myself w/o paying a weekly fee. I felt bad I did nothing on my own until I found this in May - I've lost 14 lbs so far - and no fees!
  • Wow - that's 4 lbs/week - amazing.
  • I just realized that for the last 2 weeks or so, I haven't peed my pants when I sneeze...
  • I like to mix mustard & a little honey together & put on chicken for a change of pace once in a while. Or I like the BBQ chicken w/ corn on cob & mixed veggies. You can mix some of the rotel in w/ the mixed veggies & top w/ a bit of parmesan cheese.
  • I remember years ago when I was on weight watchers, the leader said every 10 lbs was a dress size. I knew it was total bull because at 145 lbs (I'm 5'6"), I was a size 14; and at 230 lbs, I'm a size 18. It was very easy for me to gain a lot of weight w/o realizing it because I still fit in my pants - I gained in places…
  • I'm like a 42 J - I did buy a sports bra that cost about $80 at a specialty bra shop. They fitted me for it. Pricey? Yes. But I have used it for about 3 years now and it holds up like iron. Also, because of my scoliosis, I can't do any exercise that involves bouncing/jumping. It's really bad for your back. When I do…
  • On occasion I meet my father for breakfast (it's his only outting now, he is elderly & frail). Of course, he always wants me to get whatever the big special, but at the same time he chides me for my weight. I have figured out that I do quite well with 2 poached eggs and either a slice of toast or english muffin. Not so…
  • Bloomfield, Michigan here! This has been the first program to work for me so far. Very excited about it.
  • Yes - quite a difference. Thanks for the inspiration!
  • 2523. Walking, biking, swimming. Didn't exercise much the last 2 days though as I was prepping for a BBQ here & then hosting the BBQ here.
  • I know. I hate keeping a food journal. I paid $ for weight watchers for years & hated writing everything down, tracking, and then gaining weight. Can't believe this is free & so easy for me to use. I've been on 45 days & lost 13 lbs. It would take me 6 months to do that on WW, if at all.

  • Health Starts Here salad dressings from Whole Foods. They are oil-free and taste GOOD. I got the ginger-carrot dressing and fig-balsamic dressing. They are only like 30-40 calories for TWO tablespoons. There are other flavors I haven't tried yet too.
  • When I get discouraged, I remind myself that the scale is just one of the numbers I should be looking at. There is the scale, the measurements, the blood sugar, and the cholesterol. When I don't see anything happening on the scale, I figure that is a week where something good is happening to one of the other numbers. I…
  • You know what? It's great that you can admit what was holding you back, but what a gift you have in your husband. Not only can he be an inspiration for you, but do you know how many women complain that they are being sabotaged in their weight loss journey because their husband won't help or get on board? You are in a…
  • Anybody can do yoga - it is not about getting into the posture perfectly, it is about going as far as you are comfortable with. Next time, talk with the teacher a minute before the class & let him/her know about your knees. There are always alternative versions of postures that they can suggest to you. There is a version…
  • I do breakout ones during the week (15 minutes walking at work; 15 minutes on bike at home; 10 minute cardio video); on the weekend, when I have time, I do longer things (90 minute bike ride; hiking; 60 minute yoga class).
  • I felt hungry alot my first 2 weeks or so, so I exercised so I could eat more. I have always hated exercise but I am highly motivated by food. So, even if it was hoping on the exercise bike for 10 minutes or taking a walk around my building at work - SOMETHING - to earn some extra calories so I could eat a little more -…
  • Thanks for the tips guys. Next time I'll steam less, just use a little butter (maybe that yogurt) and a little more cheese & leave out the milk. Oh - and I'll just pulse it. Or maybe hand-mash (that's how I do my potatoes anyway. My husband told me he didn't expect to like it, but he did. He does not care for cooked…
  • I'm 5'6" and hope to be a 14, which is what I was in college. Even at 125 lbs in high school, I was a 12. I have never been in those smaller numbers since middle school, and I was not a fat kid - I took tons of dance.
  • Welcome! I've tried all sorts of different diets for 20 years. I just joined here 5 weeks ago & lost 10 lbs. I would have gained & lost that same 10 lbs over 9 months on weight watchers. You just have to understand you are trying to break bad habits and change your lifestyle - not follow a temporary diet. It's really…
  • 10 restaurants in 7 weeks is not more than once a week. I usually go out once a week - and while I might not be "perfect" on my diary, I am definately making better choices than I used to. Go out - make better choices. You have to learn how not to sabotage yourself!
  • Thanks for the inspiration! Your starting weight is only a little more than mine, so this gives me an idea of what sort of change I can hope for. BTW - do you have scoliosis? Your back seems shaped much like mine - with the curve - just wondering.
  • Yoga. I have scoliosis & plenty of back issues since I was a teen (I'm 47 now) and I started taking yoga at 19. I used to have to wear a supportive corset thing in college under my clothes so, back when I was thin, I had to wear clothes 2 sized too big to accomodate that thing - after ONE yoga class, the pain went away.…
  • We saw the Beatles "Love" show at the Mirage - it was the most beautiful thing we ever saw. Also at the Mirage, the Siegfried & Roy Secret Garden - if you like to see the big cats up close. Beautiful.
  • Cut it up into small pieces & stir fry it w/ some teriyaki or soy sauce, maybe some orange juice/ginger - whatever you have in the house that has an asian flair. Add veggies if you have them in the house & serve w/ rice or wrap in a tortilla or eat plain. Once you cut up the thawing chicken you don't have to wait for it to…
  • You are all way more ambitious than me. I'm 5'5 1/2, my starting weight (30 days ago) was 225; I am now 217. My goal is 170. I haven't weighed 125 since 8th grade when I wore a size 11. In college, I was 140/145 and wore a 14. I stay the same size for very large weight ranges. I was a 14 thru most of my 20's but my weight…
  • Hi Tricia - I'm 30 days today, and 8 lbs down. I can't believe it. I could do weight watchers for 6 months & pay all that money & not lose 8 lbs. I have never been able to stick to anything like I have this. I have several mini goals, but I'm confident I will surpass them. Even my husband is getting inspired & is starting…
  • I like to add pieces of chicken to cooked rice and peas & mix that all together for a nice side dish.
