thanks for these guys - will definitely look into these! But tonight I'm going for a standard one - my only concession will be semi-skimmed instead of full fat milk to make the bechamel. I'm going to watch the portion size and I've saved up the calories and then next time I'll be good....

HI I use abel and cole and have been using them for many years. They're pretty good. I live with my partner and we get a small gourmet veg box every fortnight. Have had some interesting stuff in it over the years - not all of which i've liked but it's fine because you can specify veg you don't like and they put in…

Just to play devil's advocate - sometimes I think we can get obsessed with an ideal weight we have in our head. Yes I'm sure sometimes it can be jealousy on the part of others but sometimes they may have a point/it might genuinely be their opinion/they might be being nice - watching your weight is hard work and frankly…

I love soups. When it's cold or I'm under the weather I like to make something like a Spicy Tom Yam soup. Boil up some water/chicken stock, add two teaspoons of Tom Yam paste and then add vegetables such as mushrooms, spinach, red onion, mange tout or sugar snap peas, slices of ginger, chilli and then add lime and fish…

I responded to a post on this before - copied the link below - hope it works. I have one in the fridge too, I might make it as part if a vegetable curry tonight! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/324159-eggplant-preparations

I have various clothing issues but this is not one of them! BUT I have seen adverts for Levis Curve and there are three different styles depending on your hip/waist ratio...might be worth investigating. And maybe "boyfriend" cuts or slouch jeans suit being belted up (which might not work as well for skinny fit or bootcut…

interesting discussion. I can relate to a lot of what people are saying - I think it's hard not to feel a bit a judgmental of others who are overweight when you are doing this and being so conscious of every calorie you consume. I certainly don't think it's right and i try not to judge - it could just be jealousy that they…

Yes it is my weakness too. As a student who hangs out with the lads I was a pint drinker! I have since cut out beer and now drink wine - always ordering a small glass though pub measures can be huge - 250ml glass is a third of a bottle). For spirits however, the measures in the UK are so small that it's hardly worth…

I'm 40 and am battling with my bingo wings too - have been doing exercises using cans of tomatoes and tricep dips! I think some of us just have weak areas - my legs are really muscular for example and my butt is quite pert but yes flabby arms. But I also think a lot of cardio exercise that I do uses my legs and so I have…

well done - it feels good, doesn't it? Much better not to be a slave to our scales and be more self aware - little things like watch straps, belts (I had to have a new hole put in and now may need another one put in!) rings feeling looser etc... Keep it up!

What's done is done you can't change that but you do have the power to watch what you eat over the next few days. Weekends like that happen and you feel awful - I had a whole week like that last week - a wedding, a carnival and then a three day city break where I certainly wasn't going to try and calorie count. Plus it was…

yoga? Do salute to the sun every morning that gives a good stretch, don't read in bed and make sure you eat oily fish - salmon is great for skin. Use moisturisers on your neck - I don't know whether any of this works but I've been reading the anti-ageing beauty bible and now I've started doing all this I'm too scared to…

http://reviews.argos.co.uk/1493-en_gb/8321822/reviews.htm these are the ones I use - calibrated to quarter lbs. But still have to make sure I always put them in the same place - i think that's the fault of my wonky floors though and not the scales themselves...!
-
sounds great! thanks for sharing.
-
second the congratulations - that's great. 3ibs isn't a huge amount and things like your time of the month will make a difference. Also rather than just focusing on the scales have you been keeping tabs on your statistics i.e. waist, hips, arms - all these have probably toned up and so you my have lost inches even if the…

reporting back. It wasn't perfect but I don't think I was too bad. We were staying at a hotel two nights so at breakfast I got them to poach me some eggs and a avoided the fried bacon, didn't butter my bread, Also went for a walk in the hotel grounds. The wedding lunch was ok. I ate it and as some predicted the portions…

ordinarily I would just relax and enjoy it - I am quite sociable and like to party - it's just that it starts a week of really not being able to log...I go to Portugal and then have one week before my birthday party which is when I was trying to lose weight by. I guess I won'tmake that,,, you're right - no one will no how…

How about kedgeree ? i normally make kedgeree with smoked trout but am sure originally it's made with smoked haddock. I would probably make a buttery, fattening fish pie but not suitable if you can't have dairy and are trying to lose weight! ; )

love this sauce - probably my favourite pasta sauce. I use a dried red chilli and thyme rather than oregano. Used to eat it regularly before MFP but just with huge quantities of pasta!!! (my original recipe was from Rick Stein I think)

yum....

my favourite vegetable along with mushrooms. They are great fried but clearly not ideal if you're watching cals. You can chop them into chunks and roast in oven with red peppers, courgettes and red onion - spray with a tiny bit oil, salt and pepper etc. This can then be mixed in with couscous to make a really nice salad…

This is so true! Read my profile...it all started with the relationship. We love food, cooking and eating out...we were a disaster together. I remember at uni we'd sit down with a big bowl of pasta and not answer the door because we were so embarrassed of anyone seeing how much food we were eating. Also we're around the…

i do something similar with broccolli and eat it was pasta! lovely! (I also add some red chilli)

wow that looks lovely - have some dill kicking around in the fridge and was wondering what to do with it!

Oh god I forgot - I started MFP in spring. I love a pie - steak and ale, chicken and mushroom, fish, shepherds OMG - will try not to think about that until the time comes...flaky pastry, short crust, puff, mashed potato...I will have to experiment. Roll on Autumn! BTW: Cook Yourself Thin cookbooks are great for coming up…

Week 2 Nadia (London) 39 Height 5.3 CW 147 GW 140 Sorry I missed weigh in - think that's right. I have a glut of vegetables from my garden and my dad's and so have been creative - stuffed a marrow (large zucchini) with cannellini beas, chorizo, peppers and sprinkled with feta cheese! Very nice, filling, no carb meal!
-
Yes they are and I occasionally buy the Almond slices - they helpfully have the calories - maybe around 100-150? So nice with a cup of tea in the afternoon!

Low fat curries are possible! It's just about measuring everything. So I'll use a tiny bit of oil to fry the onions and if they start to stick I'll just add a dash of water - no effect on taste. When my mum taught me to cook it was all by sight rather than exact measurements and I love cooking like that (it feels so much…

http://www.abelandcole.co.uk/recipes/fennel check out the recipes here. I like it really finely sliced raw. I used to have it with pan fried fish. You make a dressing with olive oil warmed in the pan with white wine vinegar, garlic and maybe a dried chilli, capers, lemon juice and herbs like parsley. you place the cooked…

Happy birthday! Last time I was in NYC was when I was 19 - have always meant to return (I was staying with family and had an 8.30 curfew!) but don't know where the time has gone! Have a great time! These are going to be the best years of our life!
