I'm swamped and behind this morning, but I'll try and find a study that was done on this. If I remember correctly it makes no difference as long as you are not going to bed absolutely stuffed. Total calories matter. Non-scientifically and anecdotally, I never go to bed hungry. If I do I'll lay awake all night. Sometimes I…

chihuahua? We rescued one from the Los Angeles humane society 10 years ago. It was already about 8 years old. We were never able to house train it. We just contained him when we were not actively watching him. He preferred to go inside and preferred carpet. He would hold it hours outside and come in to relieve himself.…

It sounds like you have a plan. I really admire you for sticking to your eating and exercise goals while maintaining your beliefs. Best of luck to you.

Hi I'm a grad student sometimes on campus 14 - 16 hours straight. I'm also a parent packing lunches for two grade school children. Did I mention I'm a grad student (not much money.) I aways pack my food. Find out if there is a microwave anywhere. Most schools have one somewhere available to the "public" Then you have more…

There are some studies beginning to correlate the consumption of diet soda use to metabolic syndrome. I'm not sure how conclusive those studies are yet. Here's a NY times article that has a link to the abstract of the original study. (Have fun reading the study, if you don't read journal articles regularly they can take a…

Looks like a blast!!! There was so much energy in the pictures. You know you are on track. You've been training for it. You can eat correctly even with out recording it for a few days. Go Princess!

Zaza - Here you go. These look like sites which do their research, and will give you a more accurate picture of how phosphorous and calcium may interact, particularly relating to bone health. One site still don't have the citation journals listed, but is well written, and by naming the researchers and universities at least…

I would try to keep the fat down and up the carbs. If it is good fats (avocado, nuts) then I would not worry about it as much, but don't got too far over. Good luck.

Let me start by saying I agree wholeheartedly that soda, coke, pop, whatever you call it, is unhealthy. I don't drink it, don't like it, don't have it in my house, don't let me kids drink it. I am practically anti-soda. I believe Eve23 is looking out for us by posting this, and is getting a lot of us thinking. (Thanks…

Nope, no way. Been burned too many times. I do lots of research (it is what I'm trained to do) and make a spreadsheet and choose the one who agrees with me on the most issues - and I look the most at voting records - what has this person DONE rather than what does this person say. But I vote in private and hold my…

Especially if you have not been exercising then it seems very normal that you would have an initial gain. This is a good gain of muscle. The muscle will help you burn off the fat. You will be leaner, feel better, have more energy and look great. You are off to a good start. Keep up the work and be faithful and you'll be…

Yup - it certainly stands out on campus. People know me by my bike. If I don't have it locked up outside my building (the creepy old one:wink: ) then they think I'm not there.
-
A classic I love this bike - I gave up my paid off truck (to my dad) so this is my daily transportation. ready? So cute. Mine has the smaller front wheel (because I'm petite) but is the pink. 21 years old and still rides like a dream. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/bridgestone/1987/pages/bridgestone-1987-23.htm I had…

Oregon native and long time Portlander now in AZ. It will be ok. See if you can find something to distract yourself. It is a rare summer storm, and they usually move quickly, so look for the rainbow afterward. Three summers ago on the back porch of my SE Hawthorne home I saw a double rainbow at sunset. I hope you get a…

LOL, when I visit my parents church my mom is now trained to bring sliced fruit. She brings it just for me...and then it is the first thing to go. So, start a trend, the next time you bring food to a potluck style gathering make it an attractive fruit or veggie plate and see the response.
-
Oh, I used to watch those with my mom. I'm home now, I'll finish up tomorrow. Yes, it is a cool, old creepy building. Sometimes when I'm there alone I hear laughter... I just keep door locked. Off to garden. Whoooooo Hoooooo. I guess Mr. Van *kitten*'s name is off limits.

Thanks Shorerider. In the last hour another person showed up here. At least I'm not alone in a creaking old building...like I was earlier.
