But I wanted evidence. The best I got was some stuff about how we need more protein, which I've read contrasting stuff about (admittedly from 80/10/10ers). Nothing to back up the claims that we can't burn more than 100g of body fat a day or anything.

Threatening? I already did it, I will do it again Friday. I might do it again in future depending how much it freaks out my husband (I don't like freaking him out). What is wrong with "easy"? Surely I should make it as easy as possible to avoid the risk of giving up? And if I am losing weight I am getting less fat right?…

When did I say I don't walk. I take 2 short walks with my kids on days when it's not raining and I don't have a backlog of housework. I regularly go out for an hour or two walk on weekends with my husband and kids. It takes me an hour to walk to church (and half an hour back because downhill that way) with the buggy. I…

I do try and go on 2 walks a day with them, but that's weather permitting (rain etc) and also sometimes I have stuff I need to get done - if we go on 2 walks in a day, between naps and feeding them that's the whole day gone ya know. But a walk with a toddler is like you said, stopping every single bloody meter to look at…

Honestly I probably will make OMAD the main "everyday" plan (with 16:8 on weekends actually) but I also want to do some extended fasts in there, just for the fun of it and the challenge mostly, assuming it can't hurt. And no... I do not currently believe that we can't burn sufficient fat to support our metabolic needs…
-
Because I want to know if it's harmful to health for someone fat to run at a high deficit/do extended fasts?
-
I know it's my fault I am fat and I *AM* doing something about it.

I am losing weight fine...

I find that patronising, it's not like I never walk. My phone says I got 12334 steps yesterday and a distance of 5.6 miles. Not great since today I've not done much because I had tidying/meal prep to get done round the house (we have a moth infestation and I have been panicking moving all the furniture to check for places…

Obviously walking burns calories but its not going to improve cardiovascular fitness unless your baseline is so bad that walking is actually effort.

I am not going to just give up because I am impatient jeez. If what I try now doesn't work I will try something different. I refuse to gain back the weight I've lost so far, I refuse! I stayed the same weight for months while ravenously hungry during my last pregnancy, and after 2 pregnancies in the past 3 years I was no…

I always felt like if you don't get your breathing rate up/some lung discomfort you're not exercising really?
-
I have a buggy, that's the same thing right. The almost 2 year old sits on the handlebars and the 3 month old sits in the seat. I'd love to get the almost 2 year old onto a bike omg! It can be done by 2 and a half?, omg omg, that would be awesome??? Man I had stabilisers on my bike till I was 8!

Well that's what I tried to do the last 4 or 5 times I lost weight and I still fell off the wagon. Ultimately sticking with whatever I choose to do is the hard part. TBH the easiest weight loss I ever had was wholefood vegan. I have no desire to overeat lentils and rice (even though it's delicious) but I just don't have it…

I find all the bodyweight programs I find online are far too advanced for me even when they claim to be for beginners I can't manage them. Like I can't do a pushup, only a couple (like 3 at best) of very poor form girl pushups - and the form thing is what worries me, I don't know if I am doing everything wrong and making…

Not as regular as that, just doing the 2 day fasts from time to time. Today I finish one, I've done it a couple of times now. 1600kcal isn't my current maintenance but it will be once I am a normal weight.
-
I don't know if walking counts as exercise really, it's not exactly hard work. Since having the kids I am only averaging 6000 steps a day (when carrying my phone - so outside, I don't carry it round in the house - when I used to have a wrist tracker I got 10-15k average, usually with one 30-35k day in there, in a hilly…

Because when I am thinner it will be easier because I won't be working against my own fat as much. My cardiovascular fitness is awful as well which makes it hard to exercise efficiently. And for a totally other un-weight related reason - I don't feel confident crafting an exercise plan that works on my own, which means I…

I guess because I'm not unhappy and lethargic. Honestly I get a bit of an adrenaline rush from it. I can promise you, I am not a person who is harsh on myself - the second it gets difficult I will almost certainly cut it out, and probably before then just because my husband is iffy on the idea.
-
I never considered myself to have crash dieted. I did do atkins as a teenager but I got lots of protein on that. I know I have very little upper body strength (carrying my kids about honestly kills me) and when I am thinner I probably will want to work on that because I'd like it to be less painful (although my neck not my…

Just because I am *not* convinced doesn't mean I *can't* be convinced.

"Someone"? No idea. Someone who has the same level and type of activity? I would expect more but I couldn't quantify it.
-
I'm not talking about getting to really low muscle levels though, just a normal amount for ones body type and size assuming a normal level of activity, carrying things/children, doing work around the home and garden, transporting oneself places etc. Your body isn't going to sacrifice muscle it uses until it absolutely has…

Surely if a person is fat and not immobile they have more muscle than they need since they are carrying their weight around all day with it? It would be like a thin person carrying a bunch of weights all day long? Why would I want to maintain muscle I won't need when I am thinner and have less of me to carry about?…
-
I thought mild protein restriction was associated with increases in longevity and generally adults don't need much protein unless they're trying to build muscle or ill/injured. My goals are to drop through the BMI categories until I am a normal weight and then evaluate if I need to drop further to a BMI of 22 (where the…

I can get adequate nutrition at this level of calories, although it does involve sacrifices in food choices... Why would my body "burn" muscle when it has plenty of fat it could burn? Hasn't happened so far, maybe when I have less body fat then it will be more likely but right now I honestly feel less hungry not eating…
-
What is the right amount? Surely the bigger the overall deficit the better? If not why not? It's not like I am lacking in calories, there's tonnes in my fat stores.
-
500kcal is harder than nothing though.
-
I am even fatter than that pic now sadly. And what is "sustainable eating habits"? What makes this unsustainable?
-
Well obviously I am not aiming to make it worse, but what I was doing before wasn't making it better. At the moment when I break a fast it's around 5pm, I eat my meal, I feel good, full, satisfied, put kids to bed, hang out with husband for a few hours then go to sleep still full. It's amazing. When I was trying to just…
