Hey, it took me ages before I realised you have to just be clever with your time and it's not necessarily about scheduling exercise classes but figuring out how you can do that little bit extra with your day. For me, I'm not a member of a gym and didn't want to be so I just found reasons to walk more places. Now I walk to…

I live with my bloke who is a chef so when he's home (he works crazy long hours) he cooks amazing meals and I just try and have smaller portions. When we go on holiday I go way over my allowance but when I go back to watching the calories I always have a great loss. I think it is good to shake things up but more often than…

Aw, you're all so positive and lovely ideas - thanks you  I do love a good swim, but being in London there's not many decent sized pools where I live - hard to do laps when there's more than 4 people in there with you. But I'll keep my eye out for a good one. Maybe I could make it a weekend thing - I'm generally a…

Haha ^ this! Do I get to blow a horn as well if I cycle?? Naw, but thanks everyone - I'll carry on walking and maybe add some yoga or pilates to the mix in the new year to work on my core strength  Where dya reckon is a good place to get a HRM? Or what's a good make so I know what to look out for?

Hi Wendy, Welcome to MFP - hope you have fun keeping healthy and fit! This is a great place for motivation and friendship :) I'm 24 and living in London, used to be active but now have a desk job so my weight ballooned for the first year - until I realised and discovered MFP and now I'm on the road to being curvy and hot…

Hi Mel, welcome to MFP. It's a great bunch of people here and I've found some great motivational friends. Hope you enjoy! Happy logging! I'll add you as a friend and we can keep on track together

Hiya, I think you REALLY need to track when you're drinking. In my work there is a massive drinking culture (we work hard and play hard) and I have to plan really carefully what I drink and how much so I don't go over my cals. It's in NO way a freebie as most drinks (apart from something like vodka lime and soda) have a…

Absolutely. I always do, thought not out of requirement...more from the fact my legs are so pasty white I get the ones that make me look tanned!

AC/DC - let's get it on!

I know what you mean, it's a tough one. I'm a massive fan of wine, used to have about half a bottle every night and more at the weekends. I've found that not allowing myself any wine at home during the week has been the only successful way of stopping myself. I'm allowed one bottle over the weekend to share with my bloke.…

Books already out peeps - I can recommend it! I bought their book as soon as I heard about it - so far have tried bacon, poached egg and balsamic tomatoes for brekky. Cottage pie for dinner, and cajun spiced chicken and potato wedges. All YUM! I love being able to have REAL food and not feel guilty. I've even adjusted some…

Also - probably not for the 10 year old but for anyone on here with really young kids - there's a hilarious bunch of people who have released albums called 'ROCK a bye baby' which are all lullaby covers of classic albums by bands like radiohead, nirvana, pink floyd

Y'know what I totally agree with 35andRunning: Paul Simon is a great choice! I think I'd go for some good Beatles, Peter Gabriel, Queen, some of the Who songs are pretty catchy,... I was brought up on Yes, Ni Kershaw, Camel, Deep Purple, Queen, King Crimson, Mike Oldfield, Def Leppard, Phil Collins... Oh saying that, Phil…

Oh, I have the same problem. And I hate when it's really hot weather because I can't wear a skirt because my thighs rub together and chafe and it really hurts :( Thanks to kiannlouise for the lunges tip - I'm def going to try that

I found that it was only when my OH started doing this as well that it really started working for me - he's a chef so I'd be good all week then whenever he was home we'd totally splurge out and I'd ruin it. Now we're good even when he is home all weekend, we cut out wine drinking and full blown three course dinners! It…

I used to be a cappuccino girl all the way, or at least really milky and it had to be full fat milk. But one time I got a really bad cold and I heard dairy is not good when you're all phlegmy! SO I started cutting it out bit by bit and now I can do without - every so often I treat myself to a skinny cappo but I'm not as…

Hi there, welcome to MFP - I've just restarted my journey with a vengeance after finding myself 20lbs heavier than when I joined last year. Feel free to add me :) I'll add some of you x
-
I'm in the same boat too! I started last year and lost a few lbs then fell off the wagon and have now come back 20lbs heavier. Adding you for motivation :) welcome back!

I don't have much advice, apart from I heard the icing thing is good, but I wanted to say to everyone who's answered here - THANKS SO MUCH!!! :flowerforyou: I used to run a lot, but now after many injuries I'm just going back to running and trying the C25K, and I majorly suffer from shin splints! I'm going to try all of…

I saw the first episode last night as well - me and my boyfriend are planning on trying some of the recipes (we've ordered the book from amazon) I think it's a really good thing and they do seem really genuinely shocked that they were so obese - I read an interview with them in a magazine and they have lost about 3 stone…

This is fab, I eat 'feal food' too. My man is a top chef so we aren't allowed low fat anything in the house - plus I don't really like it. I'm all about getting more veggies, seafood and less carbs in my diet :) would love to trade recipes with people?? Feel free to add me

Hi, I'll add all and sundry! I've just started again after failing a bit last time. It's too easy to live in the fast lane in London and eat badly/no time to exercise! Back on the horse and away :)
-
Thanks so much for the advice - my fencing club has a recommended sports physio who they go to who's meant to be great so I'll check him out. I'm definitely going to get motion analysis done at a running shop so hopefully I can get decent, correct shoes and might get some advice on my gait too. Glad to know it gets…

Great thanks everyone :) Think I'll try Zumba as I've always wanted too but was too embarrassed to try in a room full of other people! Don't have a wii fit board yet...Your Shape sounds good, do you need the board?

^^THIS^^ Totally. And even then I'm still not doing too great! :/

SAME! That and my mum is pretty brutally honest about how much weight I've gained since I was younger (think 4 years ago). And pictures of my friends who suddenly seemed all much much skinnier than me :/ My friends at work had a different tap and track app for iPhone, but I have Android and found this to be even better -…

Depends on the item I'm talking about - many liquids such as milk and cordials/soft drinks have a lot more cals than you can think, cake I definitely would and I think I'd just check up on the mints and gum to see how many they are each - If I acccidentally munch down on two or three and they're 30 cals each I'd definitely…

Can I say my boyfriend? He's been on Good Food channel a couple of times!!! Otherwise I do like Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall (Saw him in a restaurant just down from work the other day, got very excited!) Or Matt Tebbutt :) Basically anyone who really pays tribute to English produce and real food!
