Let him lift.... It does not stunt your growth. My older son started at 13 he was 5'10 and 120. He will be 16 in June and is 6'3" 185 and still growing. Thank you all for your responses... Kinda feel silly that I did not try that... Just logged in yesterdays workout and got 295 calories for 45 min. I normally train 45 min to an hour of weights 4 times a week... now I feel better... Thanks again....

I think it depends on your body type... I love doing cardio in the morning on an empty stomach, I have read that it burns more stored fat for energy. If you are close to your goal weight I would eat a small amount of carbs for energy. That way the body will not feed on your hard earned muscle for energy...
