  • I fill myself up with raw vegetables. White cabbage - love it. Sugar Snap Peas - fantastic. My other fancy is Haywards Sweet onions (pickled) - I love them. Your bed will become a bit of a dutch oven but at least you won't be eating anything bad.
  • I use the Aptonia stuff from Decathlon, immediately after my daily ride (about 45 miles). Other than bags of fruit+nut, I find it difficult to get enough protein in my diet. The vanilla flavour, with a pint of milk, tastes fantastic.
  • Perhaps your husband is worried that if you lose weight and gain confidence, you'll realise that he's an idiot and not worth bothering with. All the more reason to lose the weight tbh.
  • I do a fair bit of cycling. Just to compare with other people's logs: 2/9 - 14 miles 3/9 - 22.5 miles 4/9 - 99.3 miles 5/9 - 16.7 miles 6/9 - 21.5 miles 7/9 - 22.6 miles 8/9 - 24.2 miles 9/9 - 33.5 miles 12/9 - 22.5 miles 13/9 - 22.5 miles 14/9 - 34.5 miles 15/9 - 22.5 miles 16/9 - 21.5 miles 19/9 - 38 miles 20/9 - 37…
  • Given your face is the thing you'll look at in the mirror every day, I doubt you'd notice much fat loss. Everyone else will, though.
  • I had problems with my Nexus One when it updated to Gingerbread, but Sportstracklive (the app I use) soon fixed the issue and now it runs perfectly.
  • And would you know it, yesterday I was 17 stone 6 (hovering between 6 and 7 on the scales), today I'm 17 stone 4. So these things do work themselves out, eventually.
  • You and me both, 17 stone 5 or thereabouts for about two weeks now. Very frustrating considering the amount of cycling I do, but I realise it's probably just my body saying "woah, wait, I'm starving here!" I've changed my diet slightly and reduced the total carbs I'm eating. Let's see how that works.
  • It'll be the noodles that constitute the bulk of the calorific content. The powder won't add much at all.
  • Eat more, exercise a hell of a lot more. The weight will soon come off. Don't attempt to starve yourself, for instance, I've eaten about 3,800 calories today, but have burnt about 3,000 through exercise.
  • The point is that the more exercise you do, the fitter you become. If you're thinking of quitting, then perhaps you don't enjoy the exercise you do. If that's the case, then how are you going to keep the weight off in future?
  • Methinks somebody made a mistake when entering the food into the database.
  • I wouldn't worry about it. My weight sometimes goes up by a pound, a few days later it's gone back down again.
  • A fair point well made, but when I'm cycling I pace myself so I can travel a certain distance. The slower I ride, the more calories I burn from fat, but more importantly, the further I can travel. Right now I'm doing 30-40 mile rides, with the odd 50-miler mixed in. If I were to work harder there's no way I could manage…
  • There are two things I pay attention to. One, is the maximum heart rate on certain parts of my ride. When I started it was about 178bpm cycling up one particularly steep hill. Now, about two months later, it's about 165bpm. The second is your recovery rate (the speed at which your heart goes from full blast to rest). A…
  • This isn't me, but check this fella out: http://theamazing39stonecyclist.wordpress.com/pictures/ I've been cycling all my adult life but have slowly let myself go, to the point where instead of being about 170-180lbs, as I should be, last year I got to 266lbs. Over the last 6 months or so I got down to 255lbs, but then I…
  • http://www.sportstracklive.com/ That gives me all the info I need. That's what I use to enter "calories burned" in the Myfitnesspal app.
  • I track my workouts with an Android App, but the HRM I use is a Zephyr HXM. It links to the phone via bluetooth. If you already have a smartphone, why buy another clunky device?
