congrats dragonairis and myiceisonfire! Draonairis, I've totally been there with the uncertainty of it all, parenting is a new adventure! We have a nice group that could sustain well on the after baby group but I hear it's been quiet and I can't even find it. Maybe we should start a thread on this group and sticky it so it…

I didn't have diabetes but I normally drank 1L of water a day, had to bump it up to about 2L during pregnancy. Now that I am breastfeeding it's worse, my thirst is unquenchable, LOL. Sorry! The bladder gets better though so I only have to go once during the night between diaper changes and feeding,

hey ladies i can't believe it's been a month since i checked in! i'm breastfeeding so cradling my baby by with one hand so no capitals, lol. Congrats on all the babies, loving the birth stories and exciting progress! i am doing great, recovering from my c section and have already lost 20 f the 25lbs i gained. starting to…

Follow-up - I gained 25lbs exactly after all the the drama, and within the first 2 weeks I lost all but 4lbs! Still have to deal with that plus the extra I was trying to lose, but I was shocked at how quickly it came off, especially since I feel like my breasts alone are contributing the extra weight, lol! :ohwell:

Wow, a pound a week is pretty serious. I have a hard time believing you are consistently eating 500 cals above your needs while trying not to? How long have you been gaining that quickly? Maybe you should check a pregnancy test and take a serious look at what's causing you to overeat. You shouldnt be hungry past your…

Birth story time! We went to L&D around 7 (5 hours after my water broke in the gym for those that missed the first part of the story) cause the contractions that started at 2:30 became every 2-3min and very painful. They admitted me and guessed I was 2-3cm by speculum exam but the contractions were way frequent and within…

Helen – Thanks for the encouragement! You’re doing a great job with the walking, I say squeeze in Pilates when you can! I used to be one of those people that though a c section was better so I could avoid potential vaginal tearing, etc, but surgery is surgery so I agree with you. Hope your niece heals soon, poor little…

Yay, so glad i could help. Those first few months can be nerve wracking, I had an MC soap I was crazed about my Doppler till I felt the kicks!

Ask for a check. But here are some tips: -full bladder - lying flat or with a pillow under your pelvis - use lots of lube - move the probe very slowly very low in your pelvis (like right above the pubis) Some women cant detect the heartbeat till 13+, it depends on your anatomy, the Doppler, and placenta position Good luck!

Michelle – welcome! Even though you’re joining at the end, lol! You and I must be due around the same time so we can motivate each other to get back in shape, etc. 7 weeks is a tight deadline, hopefully you ordered the dress a little larger than usual or it’s a forgiving style! yahyamommy – congratulations of your little…

This one has good reviews, I might buy it. Again, it's to tell you whether the baby is breathing/moving so essentially it's a SIDS detector in addition to a monitor. Sleeping in the same room with them doesn't mean you'll notice when they stop breathing, and it will certainly be too late next time you check on them even…

It's depressing but true that the body has a fat set point and, at least for the first while after weight loss, keeps trying to send signals to put that weight back on. It does take a crazy amount of discipline to resist, which is why someone who lost a lot of weight needs to stay on mfp for a good year. its helpful for…

Brunette wife - sorry, you're right, the pain comment was for dragon, a casualty of going back and forth between screens! Great job with the water! Helen - yes, definitely time for a hospital bag, you are moving right along! Great goals for the week, I feel I should be doing prenatal yoga as well... We are naming our son…

AFM - survived the drama of the move, though it did trigger a lot of BHs with all the running around and poor water intake! Getting settled in the new place and loving it, the nesting urge has kicked in and now DH is getting annoyed that I am always doing something. He actually forced me to take a break from boxes and…

sorry I'm so behind! Emily - yay on the baby turning! Glad to hear you had an awesome time with the fam and the baby is doing well Stellcorb - crossing my fingers for a delivery! Xosugarbabies - hope you're enjoying Hawaii Kelley - glad everything was ok with that fall! Haven't heard anything about limiting driving,…

Whoa, I really fell behind! Going to try and catch up Kelley- good for you holding strong on your sex surprise. Couldn't do it. I like Jonathan, what's your girl name? My LO has gone crazy recently as well, wonder what that's about. Glad you are sleeping better though. Work won't replace the laptop? Christina - the…

The first trimester screen is for down's syndrome, trisomy 18, and spina bifida (incomplete spinal column). None of them are really familial. If you are not interested in terminating then you are ok because the 20 week ultrasound (make sure you get it!) is an anatomy scan that looks for all types of abnormalities,…

I feel like the less I eat the more I gain. I gained 6lbs by my first OB appointment at 10 weeks despite being strict with my diet and kept going from there. I reached 10 by about 15 weeks. However, it slowed way down, even after I largely stopped tracking. I'm now up 24 at almost 36 weeks. Going to a generous maintenance…

Yay, congrats! The odds were in your favor for sure
-
Helen- Thanks, I’m a little behind on the packing even though the move isn’t for 2 weeks. We are only moving like 5 miles away! I’m not sure whether we can influence the in utero sleep cycles or not, but leaving the baby alone at night is a good idea I think! Amber – yeah, the move is at an inconvenient time but I am…

A lot of women gain water, etc the first month of insanity. It actually does require a fair amount of strength for the routines. I mainly lost the second month and even then it was like 4 lbs total. But I had defined abs for the first time in my life. I think of insanity as more body recomposition than weight loss. Wearing…

Mfp takes your weight into account but can't know your intensity. For an accurate burn invest in a heart rate monitor like polar. A pedometer just measures steps

Well my first workout video was 30 day shred and Jillian made me feel like I HAD to finish, no matter what. I think I may have skipped a rep or two, but I did it. I've never quit on an exercise video, I feel it's all mental. Do some Jillan so she can train your mind! Biggest loser contestants survive their first workouts,…

I tracked and restricted the whole first trimester but I still gained. I think it was all the carbs, or maybe I still underestimated my intake. My weight gain slowed down naturally as the pregnancy progressed even though I was pretty hungry in the 3rd trimester. Now i go back and forth between hungry and hating food. If…

AFM - I don't know what happened, DH and I talked and he admitted to being stressed about various things and was sorry he's been cranky and I acknowledged I've been sensitive and we have been pretty good since other than some occasional reminders. My big stomach is giving me trouble - unwanted attention, awkwardness in…

sas – thanks! Starting to get embarrassed by the belly size! helenmelon – thank you too for the bump compliment! Hope you are taking your iron and drinking your water to help with that pulse. I still have a lot to do for baby, including moving and setting up a nursery, my shower is next week. I like Isaac Michael and…

Oh, I totally feel you! I worked so hard to get down to 18% body fat and a body I could be proud of, then I got pregnant. I gained 7 lbs in 10 weeks and then had a miscarriage, worked my way down 2 of those before I got pregnant again. I again gained a ton my first trimester despite counting calories and exercise, and had…

Certain populations are more likely to be helped by it than others, ie those with low bone marrow registry numbers, like minorities. As African Americans DH and I have decided to do it. We'll have it for our first born, for his sibling if he ends up having one, and even for us potentially. I agree the chance of needing it…
