Congrats! Of course, now that you know it works, it's time to forget the "don't set the bar too high" goal and set your "ideal dream" goal and shoot for that! You can do it!

Hopefully you haven't deleted your account. There's a lot of good stuff here, and I hope you'll be around to take part in it. As for changing your mindset, I've always found that there's a great deal of power in writing things down. It combines the mental activity with the physical (just by moving your hand), so it is a…

I just Googled "Turbofire Shoes" in case there was something official from Chalene. No luck from her, but I did find a couple of recommendations that turned up several times: 1) Crosstrainers are the way to go 2) Several people mentioned the Nike Shox as especially good 3) A TurboKick instructor mentioned the Rebok…

Good luck! My wife & I are both on MFP, and we love it. I've lose almost 20 lbs in 4 weeks; she's lost over 15. Once you start to track stuff, you'll probably find (like we did) that you don't have to make major life changes, just a few tweaks here and there. If I can offer any help, support, or tips, feel free to ask!

I love these sort of "meant-to-be-together" stories. It's like Fate is saying, "Listen, you two idiots, I know what I'm doing... Will you stop playing games and just get together already?"

My wife & I met thru a dating service, PerfectMatch. I requested an "intro;" she accepted and I got her contact info. I usually waited a few days before contacting girls who accepted my requests (didn't want to see TOO desperate). I went out on my birthday and came home to find a message from her on my machine wondering…

Nice to know that SOMETHING good came out of a Micky D's! ;-)

I just want to reiterate something I mentioned earlier: the 10-minute workout idea. You may be getting hung up where a lot of people do ... They think that if they can't set aside 45 minutes to an hour for exercise, why bother? One of my favorite authors, Dan Millman, has a saying I love: "A little bit of something is…

Wrap some in a low-cal whole wheat tortilla with some lightly sauteed spinach.

This sounds great, Turbogirl. But am I safe in assuming you mean miniature marshmallows? Not only are they lower in calories, but I can't figure out how you'd fit 3 regular size marshmallows on a toothpick...

Chocolate milk made w/ Walden Farms sugar-free calorie-free chocolate syrup in the low-cow milk of your choice: cow, goat, soy, almond, hemp, etc. Here's a neat way I've found to make a low-cal fruit seem a bit more decadent (don't ask my why it works, but it does): Get some seedless grapes. Wash them and pull them off the…

A 20 min walk @ lunchtime will help your digestion and total over 1-1/2 hours of exercise a week. There are plenty of "10 minute" workouts available on DVD, watch instantly, Netflix, or even the Internet. Do one of those when you get home from work. It will not only help you get in shape, but help get rid of the stress of…

If you have DVDs, can you play them on your computer? Also, if you have Internet access, try http://www.exercisetv.tv/. They have free workouts that you can stream. Jumping rope is a great aerobic workout. I once read an article by "the world's fittest man" (cracks me up when they give people these titles). He said the…

Thank you too, Zohars! I love the support on FMP! You guys and gals rock!

Thanks, Aliciakay252; you're a life-saver! Don't know why that site didn't come up when I Googled, but I'll be bookmarking it for sure!

Those pics are NOTHING to apologize for! You look fantastic! Congrats!

My wife & I are fans of the "30-Day Diabetes Miracle Cookbook" (a vegan, carb-conscious diet designed to help weight loss & healthy blood-sugar levels; totally reversed the wife's diabetes) and Joel Fuhrman's "Eat to Live" (he's a bit over the top with his rhetoric for the importance of vegetarianism, but he has good…

The Power90/P90X Ab Ripper is a pretty good overall workout that hits all the groups of muscles in the abs. A nifty single exercise I've recently discovered: Do 5 crunches. Lay out flat on the floor, arms above your head, with your hands and feet lifted above the floor. Keeping your hands and feet elevated, roll over onto…

Welcome aboard, jschm25, and good luck. One of the neat things about this system (for me, anyway) is that it's rather simple, usually only requires minor changes, and isn't really a "diet" in the current sense of the word. It's just learning to live a new, healthier lifestyle. BTW, you and your hubby look like a very cute…

I try to guesstimate, but here's some general rules I try to use as a guideline (based on things I've read in various places): * 8 oz. of protein (meat, chicken, fish, tofu, etc.) is about the size of a deck of cards * a cup of something like rice or spaghetti is roughly a handful * a tablespoon of butter, margarine,…

Please note that I'm NOT an expert, but this is what works for me. I usually "take off" one day a week (usually Sunday). However, "take off" doesn't mean NO exercise at all. Part of my regime is walking the dog everyday, and he won't let me take off from that! I also tend to do something like yoga or (more often) tai chi…

No need to apologize, and a great reason to brag! Congrats and keep up the great work!

Okay, Rosie, it's Saturday, so we're all dying to know: How'd you make out last night?

Well, those people are the ones who are crazy. My wife & I have read plenty of books on nutrition and can tell you that the research has shown that much of the chemical $#!+ that they put in fast food to replace the flavor that you would get from using quality ingredients is, indeed, addicting (and, of course, sugar and…

Maybe a little off topic because it doesn't really deal with the cookies themselves, but here's neat trick to handle sweet cravings: Walden Farms makes a sugar-free, calorie-free chocolate syrup. When I get a chocolate jones, I mix a little into a glass of milk substitute (soy, almond, whatever). That little drink kills…

Exactly. That's why we don't do baby carrots; we peel and cut up large ones.

Celestial Seasonings Sweet Zinger Iced Teas. They brew up quickly, taste great, are presweetened with all-natural stevia, and are zero calories.

I'm right there with you, 1smemae94, because when I see ANYTHING chocolate, you can almost see the cartoon angel on one shoulder and the cartoon devil on the other... So far, I've been able to do okay. My kung fu class twice a week burns like 1000 calories, so Mondays and Wednesday always leave me with a massive calorie…

From the Yogi Tea Web site: "A blend of organic red clover with burdock and dandelion supports the liver in eliminating toxins. Licorice supports overall stamina, and Garcinia cambogia supports the body’s ability to stay lean. Finally, fennel and cinnamon bark improve circulation and aids digestion." Plus, it's possible…
