  • Not speaking from experience, because I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard GREAT things about Strong Lift 5X%, and skimming over it, it sure looks like an effective program to me: https://stronglifts.com/5x5/
  • You also might want to consider getting another brand to see if you have the same problem. From what I've read, stevia is SUPER sweet, so they "cut" it w/various things to make it more sugar-like. So, you might be having the issue w/the stevia, or it might be with whatever it's mixed with.
  • What they said about tracking. As to the swimming, one suggestion I would make (and this is JUST my gut instinct) is that you might want to try some interval training, which seems to work well for walking/running, biking, etc. Basically, cruise with your swimming for a while, then go like a torpedo for a short period, then…
  • Your brother is absolutely right. That's why the entire human population was nothing but fat slobs until the bicycle was invented in the late 19th century. It must be true; it's on the Internet! ;-)
  • If you're looking to bulk up, what I've read (not an expert by any means, and I'm more focused on losing) is that you might want to consider more nuts/nut butters, whole grain breads, and full-fat milk and yogurt. If convenience is an issue, consider things like smoothies with full-fat milk, yogurt, and nut butter blended…
  • I can't speak for the efficacy of any of them, but if you Google "chair exercises," tons of things come up. The one below features Jessica Smith, who's stuff is usually pretty good. Good luck! http://www.shape.com/fitness/workouts/6-seated-moves-work-your-whole-body
  • Based on everything I've heard or read, there's no accepted, definitive answer to whether you should do cardio or strength training first; it seems to pretty much be dealers choice. I usually prefer to do strength training first if I'm doing a killer cardio workout, because I don't want to be so tired that my form suffers.…
  • When my wife & I were on our honeymoon in Hawaii, the hotel had LOTS of Japanese tourists, so the breakfast buffet had miso soup on it. We had a bowl every morning. Funny story: One morning we were having miso soup, rice, seaweed, and dried fruit, and happened to glance at the Japanese family at the next table. Their…
  • Not much that hasn't been said before, but the wife & I do chia seed, PB2, and berries.

  • Totally not for me, but I've known people who swear by it. On the other hand, most of them were eating crap diets to begin with, and paleo just got them eating cleaner. You seem to be eating clean anyway, so I doubt it would do you any good.
  • I've tried it, but never used it on a regular basis. However, I feel that is WAY too expensive; you can buy a comparable (or nearly so) meal-replacement shake for a fraction of the cost (and that's assuming that you want/need a meal-replacement shake). Plus, I'm always influenced by how companies market their products; it…
  • I would put them under "Calisthenics, home, light/moderate effort."
  • Okay, it sounds like you're not even sure what ou might like. In that case, I'd say to check out BeFit in 90 on YouTube. There are 90 days worth of workouts already laid out for you. But more important, they include general cardio, cardio kickboxing, weights, yoga ... a fairly good range of things. So even if you decide…
  • Take a look @ this: http://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/fitness-blender-kids-workout-25-minute-fun-workout-for-kids-at-home FitnessBlender also has plenty of great workouts (including weight workouts) that you might want to check out; they could easily be used by an 11 year old if you used lighter weights.
  • Quick question, Suezqu47: My wife & I are very interested in this book (we really like Dr. Phil), but we're vegetarians. With the food choices, would we be able to follow this diet, or is it not veggie friendly?
  • Fitness Blender's #1. I also like HasFit, BeFit in 90, and Jessica Smith.
  • The best advice I ever heard is: "The best exercise program is the one you're going to stick with." Balancing cardio and strength training is fantastic, but if you hate strength training, you won't do it. Lots of people get fit & lose weight by running, but many (myself included) find that boring. There are several…
  • It might simply be that they don't feel it's necessary, because EVERYONE knows there's no such thing as a vegetarian weight lifter. You need to eat a cow a day to have the strength to pump iron! ;-p
  • I like the looks of it (but I love EVERYTHING I've gotten from Fitness Blender), but my wife & I need to wait for the vegetarian version to come out. Hopefully soon....
  • Not right now... Too many post-holiday bills. But I am interested in giving it a shot later this year.
  • There's not enough money in the world.
  • It's so hard to judge in advance; I thought I was going to HATE Matt Smith. Instead his play on the character took me back to the days of Tom Baker, my first Doctor. But the few things I've seen him in have shown me that he's a terrific actor, and going back to an older doctor might be nice because I'm getting a little fed…
  • From what little I've seen, this seems like a VERY drastic diet that the author came to after years of dealing with chronic illnesses. If I had a choice of doing something this drastic or submitting to a lifetime of drugs or pain, I would try the dietary solution first. But if you don't have such chronic illnesses and are…
  • I don't think you're being rude at all. If you're really concerned that your uncle might think you're being nonsupportive, maybe give him a call beforehand and explain that you'd LOVE to go, but there won't be anything at the restaurant that you can eat and you don't want to spoil anyone's evening by making them feel…
  • Walk it. Nothing lame about it. Have fun!
  • Yep, great show. Much better than I expected it to be, to tell the truth. One of the things that impresses me about the show is that Anna Silk is very attractive and she's playing a sex demon, but the show never seems to delve into pandering to the lowest common denominator. They skate right on the live a few times, but…
  • Only thing I recall seeing him in was "Torchwood: Children of Earth." It was a VERY different part, but he seemed to be a heck of a good actor. I think his doctor will be a bit more sedate and less manic than we've had since the reboot, and I think that might be a refreshing change. Not that I've had a problem with ANY of…
  • Not sure this totally counts, but I was kind of weirded out by Moulin Rouge. I saw it maybe 7 or 8 years ago, and to this day I can't even say if I liked it or not. It was just too weird for me to decide.
  • Like you said, she's 11 years old. Sansa represents everything not likable about a girl in her early teens: she's silly, shallow, and self-centered. Personally, I don't dislike her; but I can't say I exactly LIKE her, either. But the simple fact is that Martin does a great job writing very realistic characters and most…
