  • That is NOTHING to be embarrassed about! Any victory, no matter how small, is STILL a victory! Congrats and keep up the good work!
  • Thanks guys; 40-45 minutes is about what I was hoping for. If I can get up on my soapbox for a minute, this is why I HATE BeachBody. Based on the Supreme 90 Web site, it offers a full 90-day program of 10 workouts on 10 different disks, a nutrition guide, online support, and the ability to purchase extra recovery drink and…
  • If you haven't gotten anything yet, let me recommend the Weider PowerSwitch 12.5 pound weights. They let you pretty easily adjust and choose weights in 2.5 pound intervals from 2.5 to 12.5.
  • On their "Channel" page, they have the first 20 daily playlists; just work your way down the list. When you reach the bottom, click the "view all" link for the other 70 days.
  • Hey, JellyBean! Sounds like you're looking for alternate ways to strengthen your abs. Here's a YouTube video for a standing ab workout (so no situps/crunches): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HK6mKUEY09o The video is @ 4 minutes. You're supposed to run through it 3 times for a 12-minute ab workout, but if you feel your abs…
  • I already posted this as my status, but I'll be happy to mention it again. For the first time I was able to do all 200 reps in the TH-200 ab program. It was a struggle and my abs are sore, but I made it!
  • I just heard about this program and am really interested in it. One quick question though: How long are the workouts? I prefer workouts 30-45 minutes long, but no longer than that. The Web site says that the workouts are all "less than an hour," but that could mean that they are 59 minutes...
  • When I started (almost a year ago) I didn't really "keep it a secret;" I just never bothered to mention it to others. When the weight really started to fall off and people asked if I was losing weight (and how so), I told them "yes," and pointed them toward MFP. I guess I just figured that it really wasn't anybody's…
  • Finished Level One today, and I really enjoyed it. According to their schedule, I should be starting Level Two tomorrow, but with my schedule, having Wednesday and Sunday as my rest days works out best, so I'm going to juggle the days around a bit. watch the "rest day" video tomorrow and start the actual workouts on…
  • I workout 6 or 7 times a week. Honestly, I never thought I'd ENJOY working out, but now I do. I feel it has definitely helped in my rapid reduction (70 lbs in 10 months), in making me look and feel better, and in improving my overall health. It has also helped me change some of my goals; I've never understood running until…
  • My wife & I did our favorite tempeh thing last night: Tempeh Rubens! Grill the tempeh, put it on whatever bread you want to use (we usually use large tortillas to cut down on the breadiness), top with vegan Swiss cheese, vegan ranch dressing, sauerkraut, and grill it.
  • I'll be honest: I have great intentions, but sometimes life gets in the way and I only log onto MFP to log my stuff, disappearing from my friends' lives for a week or so. Still, I do my best to keep track of folks and offer support when I see a need. So, if you're okay with that, feel free to add me. Either way, good luck!
  • Ditto! Good luck! Any idea what style you'll be studying?
  • That's because the leg muscles are some of the biggest in the body, burning the most calories, and the lower you get, the more you activate those muscles. And, of course, the more "rooted" you get used to being should you ever need the moves for self-defense. As my Sifu likes to put it: "Low and slow is the way to go!"
  • Wow, the first two posts were from women! Until I met my wife, I didn't know female nerds existed, and I figured she was the last of a dying breed! In any case, how big a nerd am I? I actually found the Nerd Fitness site via a Google search for "jedi workouts" and "superhero workouts." Although, I have to say, looking at…
  • I like to do workouts of about 30-40 minutes at a time (otherwise I get bored). But I also do things like walk the dog, jog with my wife, and take a kung fu class twice a week. So, although my "workouts" are (say) 45 minutes, I average about 1-1/2 to 2 hours of exercise each day.
  • Yep, I saw it on Netflix. At the time it was actually available on "watch instantly," but I'm not sure it still is.

  • Welcome aboard! BTW, for those interested in BeFit, there's a thread for people doing it or interested in doing it: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/557531-befit-in-90-days-anyone-else Another freebie site with some cool workout info on it (not necessarily workout videos, but general info on creating a workout…
  • My wife and I do the unsweetened vanilla 365 Whole Foods store brand. We used to use Blue Diamond Almond Breeze, but the nutrition is the same and it's a little cheaper (especially if you buy it by the case and get the 10% discount).
  • This probably makes no sense, so don't ask me why I do it this way, but the days that end with the sports stretch I log as 35 minutes of circuit training. The days that end with yoga I log as 25 minutes of circuit training and 10 minutes of yoga. The yoga is actually on the intense side (very quick paced), so it probably…
  • I found some more YouTube videos (once I signed up for BeFit, I got a lot of suggestions in my recommendation box). This series is called "Fitness Blender," and they have a Web site at http://www.fitnessblender.com/ I haven't done any of them yet, but I watched a few and they seem pretty good. And for a laugh, check out…
  • LOVE this response! Now that I'm not so obviously overweight any more, I don't really get this response, but I have in the past. One guy in my kung fu school must have said to me like a million times, "Oh, I guess you must eat a lot of pasta." I didn't get overweight on pasta, it was a wicked sweet tooth and a totally…
  • First of all, you're NOT being ridiculous. Second, if you have only ONE person in your life like this, consider yourself lucky! Sometimes my wife and I feel like everyone we know is like this! But, unless you want to end the relationship, the only thing you can do is suck it up when they're around, vent when necessary…
  • I posted about this in a "free online workouts" thread, but never thought to start a thread just about this one... Anyway, I'm doing day 18 today, and I've been really enjoying it. They mix up the combinations enough that even though they are the same 6 or 7 workouts, I don't get bored (with one exception: I wish they had…
  • I also like frozen fruit and find that it thickens it nicely. I usually use frozen bananas and/or berries.
  • This is the recipe for Alton Brown's "Buff Smoothie:" 4 ounces plain, low-fat soy milk 4 ounces acai, grape, or pomegranate juice 4 ounces frozen banana 4 ounces frozen strawberries 4 ounces frozen blueberries 4 ounces frozen peaches I find it to be very versatile, because I change the ingredients around, just keeping the…
  • Blame the beef industry. In order to sell their products, they've basically brainwashed the American people into believing that humans need an enormous amount of protein to live and the only way to get that protein is by eating meat. If you choose not to eat meat, you're going to, I don't know, melt away like the Wicked…
  • I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years and can only mimic most of the advice you've already been given. I'll just add that as a meat replacement, I'm a big fan of seitan (wheat gluten). I like it better than tofu (i'm trying to limit my soy intake) and you can actually make seitan yourself pretty easily. Others have…
  • I hear ya! Last year my wife and I decided to try IHOP’s “Simple & Fit” menu for a special breakfast treat (it was our anniversary). Everything is less than 600 calories, and it was pretty good. But after studying the calories on the entire menu and looking around us at the other people eating there, we realized that…
  • LOL... Well, I was trying to avoid a long-winded explanation, but here we go: I began studying kung fu @ 15 years ago. I originally was interested in just tai chi, but because tai chi is also taught as part of the school's full kung fu curriculum, I figured I might as well do everything. I addition, I've gotten several…
