  • Hahaha... I had a friend who walked into the gym and whipped off the sweat pants she wore over her gym shorts to put them in a cubby in front of the (packed) cardio machines. Unfortunately, she didn't realize that she had peeled her shorts off with her sweat pants and was standing there in her underwear in front of…
  • If I'm getting coffee at Tim Horton's or a coffee place I just add 1% milk. When I make my coffee at home I usually roll with unsweetened almond milk. When I make iced coffee I usually use almond milk & a packet of stevia. My tastebuds have really adjusted to black or unsweetened coffee though which is definitely a nice…
  • Yes! 100% yes! I can eat PERFECT during the week.. no problems, no cravings. Then the weekend hits and I get into this "vacation" mindset and I start craving pizza and chips and bagels. I largely blame weekends (and myself, obvs) for it taking SO long for me to lose weight. I don't have advice because it's something I…
  • I like individual cheese slices, hard boiled eggs, protein shakes, or protein balls... my go-to recipe is from "The Fitnessista" http://fitnessista.com/2011/01/ballz-for-all/
  • Haha, honestly I mostly just drink water. My other vice is definitely coffee (iced or hot) with almond milk. If you're trying to stop drinking sweet tea you could try and make your own unsweetened tea! Just steep 4-5 teabags in a glass jug, let it cool so it's not boiling hot & toss it in the fridge over night! You could…
  • Greek Yogurt Frozen Fruit Peanut Butter Steel Cut Oats Brown Rice Pasta Quinoa Apples Rice Cakes Larabars Goat Cheese Some kind of salad (I alternate mixed greens & spinach) Fresh steak and chicken breast Almond Milk Eggs I think that's it. We usually grab different types of veggies/seasonal fruits every week but our…
  • I looovvveee spin! I take a super intense spin class on Monday nights and usually end up doing my own programs for cardio a few times a week. It's really helped with my running endurance and lower body strength. :)
  • I'm really excited to try this out! It sounds good!
  • PS. I don't think throwing a party and serving food that EVERYONE can enjoy is 'imposing your beliefs' on anyone. It's not like you're going to someone's house and complaining about what they serve or telling someone what to order at a restaurant. There are tons of healthy options and your friends will know you well enough…
  • I used to ALWAYS make my tuna w/ mayo, but I have since discovered the joys of Greek yogurt as a substitute. My recipe: 1 can tuna A few tbsp greek yogurt Mustard Cut up celery Cut up bell peppers Dill Sliced Dill pickles S&P I usually pack it in my lunch and eat it on a rice cake or straight out of the container. ;)
  • I feel the same way. I started with the high number of reps but found they were so easy so I skipped down to the 3 sets of 10 reps and kept adding my weights to that. I haven't noticed any issues with it! :)
  • Personally, I serve the foods people normally have at parties and then practice my self control. :) However, I recently started finding that when I make the healthy snacks they get eaten faster than the unhealthy ones and people RAVE about how good they are. Some ideas (I pulled the links off pinterest): -veggies &…
  • For future reference, I always use this when I get subway. :) http://www.nutritionix.com/subway/nutrition-calculator
  • A trick my grandma taught me is to add 1/4 c. of vinegar and some salt to the water. She swore it made them easier to peel and stopped any egg from leaking out if one of the shells happened to get a crack. You don't taste it, but I'm convinced it works!
  • I personally keep them in the shell. I find that they're easier to peel when they've been in the fridge for a while & they stay fresh longer and don't turn a funky gray color or anything.
  • Honestly there are SO many different opinions on including bread and grains in your diet. I tried cutting them out completely and found myself craving them like nobody's business, so I added a few in and went from there. For me, I let myself have one serving of grains (whether it be bread, a wrap, brown rice pasta, rice,…
  • Some of my faves: Carrots & hummus, Greek yogurt & hemp hearts, apple slices and peanut butter, rice cakes w/ either a cheese slice or some type of nut butter, low sodium pretzels, cut up veggies & dip (I pre-make a container of dip using greek yogurt & then just eat it throughout the week), hard boiled eggs, larabars,…
  • I used to get the worst chub rub too! Then I discovered the joys of knee-ish length compression shorts and body glide... even vaseline would work in a pinch! I hope that helps!!
  • Honestly, the crazy chemicals and artificial sweeteners in diet pop scare me more than the sugar in regular pop. Just because it has lower calories doesn't mean it's better for you. I've never really had a sweet tooth & I never really liked pop, but I have a lot of friends with this problem. Obviously the best choice is to…
  • Nope, when I met my boyfriend he was about 330 lbs. In the last three years he's lost 120 lbs and weighs about 20 lbs more than me. His trainer wants him to get to about 200 lbs and my goal is around 150, so hopefully we'll never weigh the same. I have definitely weighed more than previous boyfriends though and honestly it…
  • I mix spinach into everything! Some of my favorites: A handful of baby spinach in my smoothie. Scrambled eggs with spinach and goat cheese. Spinach in place of lettuce on sandwiches, wraps, tacoes, etc. Chopped baby spinach mixed into turkey burgers or casseroles Spinach mixed into brown rice pasta (just throw it in the…
  • If you are worried about not-enough calories, I suggest adding some healthy fats into your diet (you should be incorporating them anyway!). Nuts and peanut butter are a great way to get some healthy fats & only takes a little bit to add some calories. More protein would also help, you seem to be eating a lot of carbs and…
  • I'm usually lazy and just scrape it out of a tablespoon, but another way you can do it is to fill a measuring cup with 1/8 cup of water and then add peanut butter into the water until it the water level gets up to 1/4 cup. (There are four TBSP in 1/4 cup). Just make sure the peanut butter is completely submerged. Then just…
  • I only weigh myself once a week now. I used to weigh myself like three or four times a day. I found myself getting obsessed with it and restricting my eating if my weight fluctuated throughout my day. My moods were super dependent on the number on the scale and my self-confidence would change with every 0.1 of a pound. So…
  • Smoothies (My go-to breakfast: 1/2 c. greek yogurt, 1 cup frozen fruit, 1 TBSP peanut butter, 1 scoop protein powder), protein pancakes, overnight oats in a jar, greek yogurt with fruit & nuts, omelettes. If you are taking your breakfast to work, overnight oats might be a great option! (Google it for a ton of recipes) I…
  • Congrats! Your tummy looks way smaller!! I had trouble sticking to the 30 day shred so extra points for sticking with it. You look great! :)
  • The obvious use for almond butter is definitely bread/crackers/celery/etc, the spreadable options. But there are lots of other things you can do with it too! For example: -Mix it into your oatmeal or yogurt. -Add it to your smoothie or protein shake (I ALWAYS add a serving of nut butter, either PB or AB) - Dip your veggies…
  • Nuts are a GREAT healthy fat and I totally think that they should stay in everyone's diet. The trick is not to go overboard with them, because you're right, the calories do add up very quickly. I try to make sure that I keep whatever nuts I eat under 150 calories. That's equivalent to about a TBSP of peanut butter, 20…
  • Bread doesn't HAVE to be cut out completely. If you eat a slice or two of whole wheat bread once in a while it's not going to kill you and it shouldn't inhibit weight loss! I slowly weaned myself off most wheat and have gone from eating wheat-products like pasta, bread, etc for almost every meal to eating them once or…
  • I love brussel sprouts, sometimes I even eat them raw. My favorite way to cook them is to cut them in half, toss them in olive oil and spices & roast them until tender. Another way I liked and tried (although I don't do it often because of all the sugar) is carmelized brussel sprouts! These directions are pretty good:…
