  • Extremely important point!
  • I'd suggest you keep it at or below 4/day as I recently heard that more than that can increase likelihood of a couple of problems (eg. gout) but otherwise shouldn't be a problem if you watch the additions.
  • I take Blackmore's Bio Iron several days a week - apparently it's easily bio-available and unlikely to cause side effects. I've certainly not experienced any problems with it.
  • Fair enough - my Mum has rheumatoid arthritis and complains about her weight but then brings/buys blocks of chocolate when she comes to stay for a visit (one assumes she also indulges when at home). I own my own gym 3 blocks walk from home but, when here for 3 weeks over Xmas, she didn't come in and do a single workout -…
  • I particularly hate single purchase chocolate (etc.) bars that have more than 1 serving to the bar - AS IF I am only going to eat half of it!
  • A few weeks ago I came across someone else's post mentioning www.randomabs.com - they post a different workout every day including instructions and videos so you might find it helpful.
  • Most of the ones I see on the shelf are using caffeine to suppress appetite and, as I like my coffee, I'd rather get it that way. On another angle - if I only ate when I was hungry and managed to eat fairly healthily then I wouldn't need to make so much effort. I feel that my problem is not eating when hungry but all the…
  • I just make homemade pizzas on small wholemeal pita bread instead of pizza base.
  • Oops, Pessimist! Dieting is by no means easy, but give yourself some credit- You can lose weight! Try to think positively. In time, you’ll find that you can lose weight and change your life. Guess I better stop stuffing around on these forums and start my workout!
  • Have you checked the ergonomics of your sitting position? As I find with sitting on the toilet, if your seat height is too high then the weight of your legs will put pressure on the back of your thighs, cutting the circulation - your knees should be at 90 degrees with your feet/shoes flat on the floor.
  • Also known as skullcrushers
  • For bread I use Tip Top 9 Grain Original (a few less calories than wholemeal) but you'll probably find wraps are better. Not sure if that meets your '100% wholegrain' requirement though.
  • I usually assume that the position I'm in is what stopped the circulation to the bottom of my legs! My understanding is that Vitamin C (as with Bs) is a water-soluble vitamin and the body just excretes what it doesn't need. I took 500mg/day for years with no adverse affects and will take 4 times as much to stop a cold…
  • Did you want to lose only 'fat' or any kind of 'weight'? You seem to have answered your own question noting that you've built muscle and know some of the fat is gone - this is healthier than just seeing the number on the scale go down without realising that the loss may be water, muscle and bone weight.
  • Water, Herbal Teas, coffee in moderation (be aware of milk and sugar though).
  • I find the exercise bike or an elliptical easiest for HIIT - but I still hate it and hardly ever do it. Looking back over the past 10 years, long-term moderate-high intensity cardio seems to have worked for me - including 10-hour waitressing shifts but no gym workouts. I do 2-hour workouts - including abs and stretching at…
  • I do my homemade pizzas on small wholemeal pita breads - my toppings are nowhere near as gourmet as yours though!
  • I was surprised to find last week that it has 50 calories so, yeah, I tracked it!
  • I usually workout when I've got a cold - I find that, if it's gone to the chest, cardio can help loosen it a bit.
  • Make the gym part of your day - ideally I'd go straight after work in a day job, then it becomes part of your work day. I'm also in Oz.
  • I don't log Splenda or herbs/spices but try to be pretty strick with everything else - calories in Fish Oil tablets add up and iron supplements need to be logged if I want a decent idea of my intake. Besides, the main reason to log my calorie intake was to work out where all the calories were coming from as the weight…
  • Mine does the same although the most weight I've had to lose is 15kg and I've no children/pregnancies to blame it on. I assume it's some fat under the skin and that I may be losing elasticity in the skin with age. Don't give up on the weight, I bet it still looks better in other positions than it used to and remember that…
  • I've experienced it on occasion but put it down to having a lot of fluid in my stomach over the previous 2 hours and not much solid food so don't worry about it.
  • I don't do the exercise because I like it! Unfortunately, I like my food too much and, after a couple of years, came to accept that if I want to stay the size I'm happy with then I have to work out at a certain level - now I've had to open my own gym to have the sort of facility I need!
  • I do 2-hour workouts 4 days a week - usually about 90 minutes cardio, some weights, ab work and stretches. Because each one is a big workout, I find that trying to do 3 days in a row is not viable as I have no strength/energy for the 3rd day. As you seem to be working at a lower intensity and shorter time periods, maybe…
  • Oops, forgot the 4 Fish Oil tablets I take each day due to a combination of low good fats and trying to stave off rheumatoid arthritis.
  • I really like The Hollywood Trainer's Cardio-Sculpt DVD - it's like a Pump Class but only uses 1-2 sets of light dumbbells and enough space to lie down for push-ups/ab work. There's also a Cross-Training one that includes Cardio-Sculpt, Kick-Boxing, Yoga and Pilates - might be good for your ADD.
  • Muesli Bar Recipe from Australian Better Homes and Gardens TV Show Ingredients: 1.25 cups Rolled Oats (traditional, not quick oats) 1 cup Coconut 1/2 cup Wheat Germ 1/4 cup Oat Bran 1/4 cup Sunflower Seeds 1/4 cup Pumpkin Seeds (Pepitas) 2 tablespoons Sesame Seeds (I use Flax Seeds instead) 1/4 cup Almonds (crushed) 1/4…
  • B vitamins help your body release stored energy and iron also helps transport oxygen around the body so those might help if you're deficient.
