Potassium is definitely one of the most important macronutrients that isn't inputted in a lot of foods on the website. Primarily it is found in meats, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, etc. I do a lot of home cooking, and when I log recipes, I always search for the USDA entries on this website for the base ingredients…

I like to mix it up with many different things so I don't get bored (which happens very easily). So far I've had the most success with the following: - Elliptical trainer - Stationary bike - Spin class - Strength training (3X a week) - Walking and generally not sitting on my a** (probably why I got to the size I did) - I…

Hey, welcome to the site. I can relate exactly. My eating is very structured Monday - Friday, but weekends are often troublesome. I often try to fit in more exercise during the weekend, or incorporate a hike, bike ride, walk, etc. as part of the weekend activities. What I struggled with in the beginning was not trying to…

This thread has been on here before, and the unanimous winner is the Polar FT4. Comes with a chest strap that you attach your transmitter to, and your watch tells you your current HR, whether you're in your fat burning range, how many calories you've burned, how long you've been exercising, etc. And has customizable…

Calories, Carbs, Fat, Protein, Sodium and Potassium (mostly the last two for regulating my blood pressure). I am usually always over fat and sugar, and it's always a constant struggle. Especially with sugar. Mind you, the sugar counter doesn't differentiate between natural and added sugar, but seeing a high number all the…

The Polar FT4 is an amazing hrm, and one that I bought because of the need to monitor calories and heart rate during cycling. It will probably run you about 100 dollars. It records calories, duration, current heart rate, and when you finish a session, it tells you your average and max hr. Plus it logs your previous…

I understand completely. I've lost 14 pounds since I started my journey, and I want to continue. I live at home, and hoping to move out soon. I think I snapped one day when my mom called me and asked to pick up a pizza on the way home, and I know I had made some meatloaf and sweet potatoes which I could eat and be so much…

Well I'm not sure how accurate you can be with strength training calories. I have two programs that I do. 8 stations, 2 sets of 8-12 reps, and it takes about 15 mins to whip through the whole thing. I just underestimate it at about 100-150 cals. Really the bread and butter of measuring calories is from actual cardio. Sorry…

I started at 329, and am down to 323 after 3 weeks. I've been getting at least 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times a week, along with restarting my strength training program. I am fully dedicated to this, and MFP is an amazing tool to track and keep myself accountable. I think my breaking point was being diagnosed with sleep…
