:flowerforyou: I am a TF junkie. Love the program, love the music, love Chalene. You won't really need any special equipment though a thigh toner and resistance band might come in handy as you become stronger. Just remember it is an advanced cardio workout so work at your own speed. As you get more fit, the moves will…

As an above poster suggested, the egg thing but don't throw the yolk away if you want the complete protein. Another suggestion, some greek yogurt.

Chalean Extreme gives you the option to work with just dumbells and it does produce results.

Made me laugh out loud.

Well I think it's time I tried the barefoot style shoe. Wish me luck.

Oh don't get me started...I'm vegetarian. Certain members of my family and a lot of the people I work with figure that all vegetarians are going to start dropping dead from malnutrition at any moment. They just can't imagine how we can survive without eating some sort of flesh. Once you get past the annoyance factor it…

Things I have learned, usually the hard way: Buy socks suited to running, cotton will give you blisters. Yes, good shoes are important so make sure you get the right ones and change them up by 500k. Use bodyglide to minimize chaffing. Shorten up your stride and that may help with the stitches. The longer my stride, the…

You can do anything you put your mind to. I weighed 226 pounds three years ago, my heaviest. I started with one step at a time, one meal at a time, one day at a time. I was embarrassed to run at first because I was sooooo over weight. I could only imagine people looking at me and feeling sorry for the fat girl working so…

And I recommend that you give anything new a try before the actual race. The GU upset my tummy so badly that had I used it during my marathon I probably wouldn't have completed. So before your actual race, during one of your longer training sessions, try your fuel out to make sure it doesn't have any adverse effects. Good…

Gummy bears work. So does honey.

Well there is a set schedule that the creators of Chalean Extreme want you to follow. Only my humble opinion but they designed it that way for a reason. Should be careful about working the same muscle groups on consecutive days when it's resistance training. Muscle needs time to recover. And don't be afraid of the…

Way to go!!!! You're going to be fabulous. Just remember, you don't need to keep up with the pack at the beginning of the race. Pace yourself and you will last much longer running than walking. Will be watching for your triumphant post race post on the boards. :flowerforyou:

I have been where you are so I understand. I'm 5'7" and when I started running I weighed almost 230 lbs. Everything hurt, my back, hips knees and feet. But I built up over time. Good shoes, running socks and tenacity won out. You can do it. And the thing that it took a really long time for me to wrap my head around was the…

I'm not vegan but am vegetarian. No beef, pork, chicken or fish but I do have the odd bit of cheese, yogurt or eggs. Didn't find it that big of a transition because I was never a huge meat fan anyway. There's just something about eating flesh.....know what I mean. Take a look at veggieboards.com. They've got a section…

Thanks everybody for your words of encouragement and support. Good to know I've got somewhere to turn when I'm feeling a little weakened. You've provided me with some very doable alternatives to those nasty little artery cloggers. Thanks a million my friends!!!! :flowerforyou:

Careful with the iron supplements. Blood testing is the only accurate way to see if you have enough iron in your system. Visit your Dr and see what she/he has to say.

You've already got the shoe advice but how about your socks? Cotton will absorb sweat and won't breathe, causing the sock to stick to your foot and creating friction and then blisters. Trust me, I had to learn that one the hard way. Go to a local running store and invest in some good socks.

Running is great for weight loss and I highly recommend it. But remember the goal is long term. Your workout should be something you enjoy not dread. That way you're sure to stick with it. Don't want those lost pounds finding their way back. Do what you enjoy for cardio.
