Er.... so I didn't manage to read the whole thing, but I heard it was 0.36 * body weight for the amount of protein. That's nearly 2/3 less than what you are using!! Another value was to keep protein between 15% and 30% of your daily calories. Either way, if you aren't able to get it without adding "artificial means" (like…

Here's what I did one week: Pre-make rice, pasta, soup...freeze these Rice + catfish (make the night before, put in container; add rice in morning with some frozen veggies; add a yogurt and a piece of fruit) Pasta + sauce, clams, spinach, cheese (make the sauce, etc the night before, add to frozen pasta in the morning)…

Try flavoring it naturally - if you like watermelon, cut up some chunks and add them to the water. Cucumber is another good flavor. I like strawberries and mint too. When you drink artificial stuff, it is still water, but not as good for you. "Vitamin Water" is one example of that - water should be 1 ingredient, maybe 2 or…

A few things to keep in mind though... 1. don't leave anything behind to make them clean up after your personal food 2. don't bring anything smelly or too loud (like cracking your own nuts, or tuna fish) 3. consider the cost of the theater - if you get in for $1, buy something there to help support them (ask for popcorn…

I love my scale - between DH and I, we must use it 5-6 times a day! We weigh everything and wow does it make a difference. For the question of dry vs wet: Weigh pasta and rice dry (they suck up water, water will add weight but nothing else, hence weigh dry) Weigh meat cooked (it looses water, hence will weigh less when…

Eggs: scambled with tofu, tomato, salsa, etc (put in wrap or eat plain) quiche frittata mcmuffin style Bagel: with cream cheese, lox, capers with salsa, cream cheese sandwich Granola bars - homemake to taste Crackers: with feta cheese, tomato, olive with cream cheese, olives, pimento with salsa (think chips) Avocados…

Try sardines, dark greens, avocado (5% in half of one), artichoke... I know it's really hard and I struggle too...I tend to fall back on Rice Chex (100 calories = 50% of iron) or Honey Bunches of Oats (130 cal = 60% of iron) but I resist if I can, since this iron is from fortified cereal and I have no idea how much…

My DH says he's "trying to be healthier" instead of "loosing weight"... You can also drop any excuses - bring healthy snacks to work, make food ahead of time on the weekends, don't buy junky food, drink water instead of getting soda, take a walk when you crave a treat (you might just really need a desk break, not a food…

I like to flavor my water - tea is a good way to do that (non-caffeinated) or add lemon, lime, mint, cucumber, frozen berries, etc... if you like the dr. pepper taste, try to find some natural alternative and put that in your water (lots of teas are complex and spicy, for example)

MFP sets the limits at a certain level - I usually bump my protein up higher (20% instead of 15%). It's not really BAD, but you have to decide what ratio you want and then set that...humans can eat almost any combination, but some are healthier than others...usually ones with lower carbs.
-
Seeds are less than $2 a packet - try growing your own! And yes, veggies are expensive because most of the time they aren't subsidized by the government the way cheap corn and soybeans are (used to make cheap candy, chips, beer, soda, etc). You gotta pay for real food! That said, if you slice a cucumber thin and freeze it,…

I ate a clementine and apple this morning and I plan to have grapes for an afternoon snack. I might also add in some strawberries or pineapple with supper... Honestly, I think fruit is fine - just balance the carbs from the sugar with other foods (ie, peanut butter with the apple would've been a good choice for me, had I…

As others have said - nuts are great for high calorie, small package foods. Peanut butter, almond butter, coconut butter, etc are also good (smoothies, etc). Cheese is something else I really like and 1 oz is usually 90-120 calories so you can eat quite a bit if you want to make up a lot of calories. Bananas are high in…
-
I think people are right - except you still shouldn't go under 1200 calories in one day! So if, for example, your "cheat meal" = 1200 calories AND the other food for the day is another 900 calories, you should eat 1200 the other days, but then work off that 900 extra during the week. (1200 per day = 8,400 for the week -…

Just based on your meals today - Where are your veggies?? Add some romaine lettuce with that fish taco and toss in some tomato on top. If you like onions, add those too! And a bit of avocado would be great. I usually keep a bag of carrots, celery, and cucumber (cut up) to eat when I want every day - its less than 150…

I think it needs to be stated here... Unless you know FOR SURE (ie, chest heart rate monitor), you should not eat back everything the machine said you burned. They aren't that accurate and it's an estimate. That said, if you use a specific, for you method of tracking, then you can eat back more. I try to stay around 50% of…

There's no real answer but I do try and stay under about 60g for EVERYTHING and under 30 for crap stuff. So my 17g sugar apple I'm enjoying right now is high, but that plus the pineapple I had as part of my lunch isn't putting me "over". Moderation is key - do a quick "subtraction" at the end of your day to make sure you…

First - breakfast is literally "breaking your fast" from the night - in other words, WHATEVER food you eat first for the day is "breakfast". That said, it is better to spread food out for the day so your body doesn't get cranky from not having a consistent source of fuel (just like your car, it's happy when there's gas in…

Quick snacks: baby carrots cherry tomatoes celery cucumber apple orange clementines pears (ie, fruits and veggies - other things would be mini rice cakes, nori strips, tuna on crackers, big rice cakes, roasted chickpeas) Meals: (use a toaster oven for these or a microwave for the last two - toaster ovens are less than $50…

Wow, although y'all are saying a lot, it's small change compared to how much you'd make! Think of it this way, at least in CO, the current amount you'd get for the lump sum (after taxes) is around $328 million. If you gave 10 people 1% of that, each of them would get $3.3 million and you'd still have almost $300 million!…

Sour cream or greek yogurt (like fage - the thick stuff) works for me...the yogurt makes a darn good deviled egg mixture.... try avocado as well if you don't care about color.
-
There are a million of these...but here are a few more: 1 cup greek yogurt + fruit + a tsp of honey (eat or blend) egg, ham, veggies - frittata Grilled chicken covered in cheese on toast it depends on your definition of healthy too...

My DH gets really sick from it - long term on the toilet type stuff. Interestingly enough, we just found out that a good alternative is beet juice!
-
I like kale chips...made with just a bit of oil and lemon juice and garlic and a pinch of salt. I also like roasted chickpeas, they are really good when crunchy.
-
Sure! Those are made with like a half a stick of butter ;-) There are healthier donuts (cake types) and healtheir biscuits - but yes, unhealthy versions of both exist. I prefer the biscuit though, at least I feel fuller after...
-
Sure - kale chips, peanut butter cookies, almond crackers with goat cheese, fresh fruit, baggie of carrots, tomato + basil + mozzarella + olive oil + salt + pepper... Meals/large snacks: zucchini and yellow squash + tomato sauce (make your own if you don't trust the store) + goat cheese Turkey breast sliced and rolled up…

If you want to stay home and snuggle, what about pizza and popcorn and hot chocolate? Pizza isn't toooo bad (around 200 calories per slice - just stick with 2 slices) and popcorn takes less than 10 minutes to make on the stove (and even less with an air popper). The hot chocolate will be a treat, but it's perfect for…

So...as suggested, find alternatives, for example, a sweet potato, baked, with greek yogurt and cinnamon (instead of mashed potato). Or Kale chips, instead of potato chips. Or make your own health air-popped popcorn. Or for mac & cheese, make some pasta and then add some grated cheddar on top instead of doing a box. And so…

Keep them fresh by adding lemon juice, then tightly wrapping and putting that in a closed container. We just used one last night for a "cerviche" of blood orange, mushroom, grapefruit, avocado, green apple, shallot, mixed with lemon juice (and lime is good too). I love them plain, just a bit of lemon juice on and eat up.…

What a great choice - I wish we could do the same, but the expense is too much right now. There are some great tips already - I wanted to highlight a few. 1. Check around locally - in Colorado, there are a lot of farms for meat, veggies, fruits, etc that don't have a lot of advertising (road side stands and such are the…
