Fun post. I am proctoring an exam. Nothing to do but sit quietly and make sure no one cheats. LOL My wife, daughter and I are going tonight to see WTF with Tina Fey. It's playing at an old movie theatre in our neighbourhood. It's very cool and the atmosphere is almost as good as they films. I will have some popcorn but not…

@ki4eld thats a wonderful NSV! How uplifting! I had an NSV today but not directly related to my WOE. My wife and I have sold our house and will soon move to a Condo. Downsizing is something we are looking forward to, but it had one major downside. The building we are moving to doesn't have natural gas hookups for the units…

Ive recently shrunk out of the last business suit that fit me. Went to buy a couple of new ones and was expecting to need a size 50 regular but turned out the 48R was what I really needed. Before going LCHF I was looking at 54R, so the change is dramatic. Also, everything now fits a looks better. At the larger sizes I…

Honestly if you can figure out how to not yo-yo diet then you'll be a billionaire overnight. I'm 48 years old and I've been doing it my entire life. Each time I pray that this will be the last time. But in the back of my mind I know that there is always a chance I will slip. Nonetheless, we have to keep trying and we can't…

I like to eat some berries as a treat. I occasionally have half an apple - usually granny smith. Once I get closer to my goal weight I intend to include fruit in my diet as a way of reintroducing healthy carbs.

Tablespoon of peanut butter and three slices of bacon. Not a lot of food but maybe that will be enough until lunch.
-
I'd be concerned about that amount of output. You may want to discuss with your Doctor.

Wow! Just, wow!

Preaching to the choir. I'm the mayor of backslideville! Been doing it my whole life - sadly. However, I am finding LCHF to be very effective and have lost 60lbs since mid-October without any backsliding. I hope that I've made a lifelong change and I wish the same for you.

I started adding peanut butter to my scrambled eggs just to switch things up

IMHO, unless eating the burger presents an immediate health issue, I would go ahead and have it. The relationship with your daughter trumps all. You can always cut out something else to make up the difference. Also, the shear act of making the burgers and sitting down together to enjoy them as a family is what truly…

Jealous! WTG!

Giving up beer was at the same time both easy and really hard. I've always been a beer drinker and love rich, bitter IPAs. However, prior to going LC I was experiencing a lot of acid reflux due to my weight and poor diet. As a result I had started cutting back on the beers I truly loved and switched to Guinness, which I…

On flight home today I was able to cross my legs.

That is awesome! I'd have been bawling my eyes out.

So, we got home today and it seems I may have actually lost some weight! I think my main takeaway is that it is really hard to change life long habits. I guess that isn't surprising to anyone, but it is the hardest thing to do and to fully embrace. The entire week we were gone I felt like something was missing and/or I…

Where in Ontario? We are in Ottawa. Made it home safe and sound with no issues.

@dasher602014 what a coincidence! We leave tomorrow as well. We are at the Westgate Palace Resort (trust me, that sounds a LOT swankier than it is). Would have been fun to meet up while we were here at the same time. Have a safe trip home.

This is pretty much exactly me. Twice a day. Usually breakfast and dinner. Sometimes I skip breakfast and have lunch instead. That's usually because I have to eat out either with clients or my family. My pref is breakfast and then dinner. I usually have a small snack in the evening mainly out of boredom.

Blackberries and 85% dark chocolate

We were lucky and had a full kitchen in our unit so we cooked some meals and also bought some things like rotisserie chicken from Walmart (how can they do that for $5?). That really helped and what @nicintime said re:planning. We always chose places where there would be food for all of us. I'm mainly happy that I have been…

Thanks for all the words of encouragement! I think I may actually lose weight on this trip. The only real indulgence I've allowed myself was a couple of diet cokes and five coconut shrimps. There's been a bit of sauce here and there that was hard to avoid but I haven't had any of my old favourites that would have…

Honestly, I think they mainly use cream to thicken their sauces. Personally, I love butter chicken and shrimp or lamb vindaloo (spicy). I wouldn't bother with the naan bread unless it is made fresh and by fresh I mean 60 seconds before you put it in your mouth. It's not worth the carbs when there are so many tasty meaty…

When I have Indian I will eat most any of the meat dishes and just try to limit how much of the sauce I consume. In general, I don't get too hung up about sauces and gravies by just being careful not to eat much. I think the big "win" is avoiding the naan bread, rice, potatoes etc. It's not like you eat Indian every day…

@lowjax75 that is an awesome nsv! I've had the same issues and understand completely how great it feels. @PaleoInScotland a mile is nothing to sneeze at! If my grade school math is correct that is 1.6km. Hint: everything sounds better in metric ;) I can relate to both of these nsv's. I am at this moment in Florida with my…

I too have struggled to maintain a diet over the long term. In recent memory I would estimate six months at being the longest. Anyway, one technic that has helped me is asking my Doctor to have me come in every three months for an official "weigh-in". He agreed and that helped me stay on track as I wanted him to see me…

Not sure if it is "on plan" or not, but I really like adding a tbsp of peanut butter to scrambled eggs. Just a thought in case you start to get bored. Good luck and I like reading your updates.

I've recently noticed this new social media phenomenon of the rapid fire, short clip cooking demos. It's usually shot looking down into a mixing bowl and ingredients are quickly added and mixed. The whole thing is done inside of 60 seconds. Ppl are always posting and sharing as tho they will actually make this stuff. I'm…

@PaleoInScotland that's a great nsv and a lovely pic! Today I had to tighten my belt another notch. Also, falling into the both good and bad category my one remaining business suit that had only just recently begun to fit is now getting a bit big. I hate spending money on new suits but in a week or two I won't have any…

I try to hit 5%carb/25%Protein/70%fat My calorie budget is 1800 Basically, I mainly focus on keeping net carbs at or below 20g. I don't track grams for fat and protein. Over time I have made an effort to increase my fat content by choosing fatties cuts of meat, using butte and bacon fat and whipping cream.
